  • Any1 way to make a macro loop?

Been thinking of looping a heal macro on myself to boost my healing skills while I sleep. Any way to make it loop? Thx

Ick. If you don't want to play the game, don't play the game.

Healing is ridiculously easy to keep up with as a WHM or RDM. I have no idea why you would want to auto-gain on it, as regular use should be more than adequate to max it out.

You get access to Regen at level 21, which is THE most efficient healing spell in the game, and happens to be an Enhancement spell. Regular use of this spell, along with Protectra and Shellra, should help keep your enhancement skill close to where it needs to be.

Other commonly used spells that develop enhancement skill :

        Blink
        Deodorize
        Sneak
        Invisible
        Stoneskin
        Bar<element>ra
        Teleport (all of them)

While some people may like to stand in one spot to cast the same spell over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over(should I keep going?) and.... the rest of us just want our spell skills to be in tiptop shape with no hastle.

The program that I found not too long ago(forget where I found it but it's out there for sure), that is not only free, but works is called "AutoIt". Doesnt matter what the game/reason your needing it for it's awsome. Below is a small script I made up for keeping my Enhancement skill up, as just casting buffs like Icemage said is clearly not enough when I see my healing skill at 65 and my Enhancement skill at 21. I am a 21 WHM if your wondering.

Ok, between these lines is the script, learning the program only takes about 30 minutes if your clueless. If your still lost study the examples by watching them and looking at the code, also the Help file is extremely nice for finding what commands are available. If your playing on playstation sorry your SOL

Oh yea, easy explanation of that script I just posted.

Basically it casts Protect 19 times on myself, /heals and regens MP to full, then stands up and starts casting Protect 19 times again. It repeats that 40 times, around 3 hours or so worth of casting all while I sleep or work or whatever. You can imagine the posibilites, and actually I have had it for a long time, I used it in Everquest and SWG for well over a year till I finally quit them both. Thankfully I now have use for it again and for a much better game

That is kind of spiffy, but I'd be careful.

In EQ that kind of stuff was bannable. Essentially a GM could come along if another player reported you and if he sees you doing something you SHOULD be at the keyboard for, like casting a lot, /heal etc, then he'd talk to you and say things like "if you are actually online, respond." If you never responded to the GM, it was pretty obvious no one was there and you were AFK macroing, which was against the rules.

I heard some people got banned for it.

I have no idea if they check out stuff like that in FFXI.

I never use stuff like that, I prefer to just play. If enhancement is lagging behind, I'll cast protectra and stuff inbetween times that I'm able to fish (13 or so seconds until can cast again) Then when low on mana /heal inbetween fishing casts.

Just curious, since my enhancement is behind too, if you max your enhancement does protect actually "protect" more?

Yeh... I thought unattending macroing was bannable.

It usually is in other MMORPGS.

However, I have leveled my Enhancing skill and its a major payne in the arse.

One easy thing, though to do is, instead of just healing, you could go in and out of your Mog House, since you regen your HP/MP full anyway when you enter there. The screen change time is must quicker than healing for like a minute or two.

Although, one cool thing about raising your enhance skill is that, at the Mog House, you can buff everyone that comes by and they appreciate it. Nice way to earn reputation if you're into that sort of thing.

                Goodbye everyone.

Enhancing skill isn't that hard to keep up with. Maxing it is difficult, yes, but I think at level 34 I have something like:

                  96 Healing
                  96 Enfeeble
72 Divine (I rarely use Banish except for Magic Bursts)
                  86 Enhancing

In general, with normal use, Enhancing will be a few points behind your prime skill (Healing), but as long as you're diligent about using Regen, it's a simple matter to keep it where it needs to be.

I've never seen an official stance on FFXI, but as noted above, all MMORPGs actively discourage scripting of this sort.

As I said before - if you don't want to play the game - don't play the game.

What are the skills caps for white mages?

(eg. I'm a level 10 white mage, what is the max level my healing or enfeeblement could be at?)

It astounds me whenever I see the mental acrobatics people use to rationalize cheating. In the same post you admit that what you are doing is obviously not allowed, yet you somehow try to defend such actions. The cognitive dissonance this generates must be staggering. But I digress.

What makes it strange is that, as I said above, it is NOT NECESSARY to do this. Enhancing skill is not so important that having it lag 5, 10, even 50 levels behind is going to cripple your character in any way, shape or form. There is no difficulty in levelling the skill - as you gain in levels, your skill will tend to increase, even if you never do anything except cast Shell/Protect. Casting enhancement spells on higher level targets tends to produce more positive gains - the higher the level the targets, the more likely you will get a skill gain, and the larger the skill gain will be.

Sitting around doing nothing but casting enhancement spells all day will give you some gains, but honestly, it's a waste of time to try and bring it up to your max. Even if you have 0 skill in Enhancement all but a handful of spells will still work just as well. And if you're the sort who wants to rely on the spells that DO depend on Enhancement skill, you're probably casting them often enough to have a relatively decent level of skill with them anyhow.

On the other hand, if you almost never cast those spells, chances are you'll never need that enhancing skill, so what's the point?

                        *shrugs*

Just get 21 and start casting Regen, enhancing skill leveling is pointless. I cast Regen 2-3 times a battle on IT mobs, enhancing skill is rising pretty fast.

My RDM friend had only 9 Enhance when he got Enthunder, and complained of it doing 1 point of damage. Mine was much higher, in the forties, and the En- spells consistantly did 4-6 damage. I've also noticed Blaze Spikes lasting much longer than they when I first got them as a BLM. I don't know if it's usefull for a WHM to have high Enhance, but it helped me quite a bit when soloing for money or on the rare occasions when I was expected to melee.

I raised my skill mostly though casting Protect on PT members when there was no WHM (I've been the main healer in 90% of my PTs as a RDM) and constant recasting of the En- spells. When on the boat I use a macro with two Bar- spells and Protect to raise my skill while I wait below decks.

Trust us when we say that Regen raises your enhance quickly. I sometimes use that more than cures in a good party. I debuff so much that each time I lvl, my enfeeble skill caps out first before healing. I can get by using Regen and maybe the odd Cure2, in each battle. It's such an amazing spell for only 15 mana. But yeah it raised my enhance massively whilst lvling from 21 upwards. Only skill that isn't high is Divine, but I hardly ever use Banish.
