Elvaan thief is a tough road. No joke about it there. I've taken mine to 35 for my subjob (planning to get it higher eventually). I don't eat dex food though, instead I used meat mithkabobs. With full merc. captains gear and 2 balance rings (don't have drone earrings yet; instead, using beetle earrings+1), my SA+TA+VB isn't as great as it could be yet. Though he's nearly optimum (missing Emp Hairpin and Leaping Boots), I doubt I'll be taking him any further. Good farmer though.

But...that's where I'm hoping my future Hume Thief will be more prepared and could hopefully surpass my Elvaan thief (planning to try to take Hume Thief as high as possible).

I took my war from 25-30 in 6 hours...
I've spend that amount of time getting thf from 15-18.... People in valk right now just don't get it...

But ima keep going... really gotta get Thf to 30 so i can use it for a Mnk sub upon request... I really like thf, but I've not been able to get a good PT so far.

You don't mention what weapons you use. My advice would be to take advantage of Elvaan's STR by using Hand2Hand. You're a Monk so you know H2H is STR based. You'll get good mileage out of it. Plus, Strike Baghnakhs will also boost your Sneak Attack damage. If you're only going to 30, you probably won't even need to use Dagger, asides from skilling it up if you do decide to go further.

Obviously the rest will need to be +DEX gear to further boost Sneak Attack, though I'm sure you're already equipped this way.

I didn't have too much trouble getting pts to level 30. 15-42 was pretty good. Then it slowed down quite a bit. Now it flops back and forth between 2 invites in a week to 3 invites out of the blue (no seeking) when I'm about to log off. I've even got a pt invite tending to my bazaar before work from a JP player. So its feast or famine for me.

Things might have changed since then. The only thing I can suggest is make sure you sub Warrior. Having a thief for emergency provoke is worth more other subs abilities.

No seriously, as I said I use good gear and food rather than most of the noobs in valk, so yes i was outdamaging even Mithran Thf's, I was outdamaging everyone in valk...

With H2H I would outdamage most melee, on my normal physical attack....

My Combo + SA was 150+ before 20...

Im a 25/12 mithran thf/war

I hate kazham. Also im a Ps2er

I use search comments, carry mithakabobs (sometimes +dex fish), keep sword and dagger maxed, skillchain whenever i can (Sneak Attack/Fast Blade), and have a boomerang. Also i have 2 Balance rings and a Spike necklass.

I would invest in Leaping boots and the hairpin, cept i just started and too poor to afford them.

I dont get invited to too many parties!
I hate it!

But thf is LOTS of fun!

Ive had the best of lucks getting into a party , and majority of them are always decent , on one account i've even gotten invited when I was already in a party.

TH and GF are very party friendly

unfortunately 90% of the time exp mobs don't drop anything good or have money so a theieve's pt friendly stats are wasted >_<

The best thing about THF? Farming AND EXPing at the same time. I made about 15k an hour stealing Mythril Beastcoins. :spin:

Mal, if you're still checking on your post, don't forget to Sneak before the mob reaches the party.

If you time it right, you'll be able to land 2 Sneak Attacks in quick succession.

If you liked level 15, you will love level 25 (Flee), 30 (Trick Attack) and 33 (Viper Bite)!

thf job

I have played as a thf since i started playing the game, noe I have a Rank 4 - 25 thf/10 war Mithra.

I love that character, and I think the THF job has a lot to do with it. I get invited to parties within 10-20 min of having my flag up. People on my server know the value of Sneak Attack and Treasure Hunter, not to mention the huge number of attacks a thf can get with a good dagger ( I love my Windhurstian Dagger).

I started playing in january, and I know that many ppeople have passed me in lvl vs playtime, I enjoy taking things at a slower pace, it lets me savor all the beauty in the game...
