  • Really like thf

    Well subject says it all...

I'm just curious as to how thf's are treated now say 15-45... Will i have trouble getting pt's? Will Ps2 players moove before my sneak every time? And lastly do you think it's worth it?

Thf's a hella fun job, and I really wanna take it to 45... But after playing monk to almost 50 setting around for hours on end waiting for invite doesn't appeal to me...

Can I at least get Thf to 30 without too much problem?

I'm a 47 THF and I've only gotten 2 invites. I've starten almost all of my parties. There's another (42) THF in my LS who has a horrible time getting parties, and is bad at starting his own.

If a Ps2er moves, just say don't move. They normally listen.

If sitting around for hours doesn't appeal, and you can't make your own parties, then THF might not be a good choice. I'm sure it differs from server to server, but on my server THF is one of the last classes picked for parties.

from my prior experiences as an elvaan thf, it kinda stinks if you don't assemble PT's yourself.

      Thanks Yyg!

Kinda talking mainly the 15-30 range

THF is by far the hardest job to get a PT with, but in my experiance the most fun job to play.
Getting people to stand behind for Sneak/trick/viper is a big pain but the higher you go the less difficult it becomes.
THF is great at 45 when you get TH2 and Hide. Getting to 45 on the other hand is a long process. Its easier to get a PT 15-30 with a WAR subbed for THF cuz PTs will consider your voke ability. But having NIN or RNG works best for the AGI and Dex.

          - I have mad respect for any 70+ THF that got there without a spt. Thats serious determination & hard work and they TRUELY earned thier level.

If you havent played BST past 35, you havent played BST.

I made every PT since level 1 ~ for my thief. Been invited twice and turned them down. Making PT's as a Theif is a definite and much easier than waiting around for an invite.

Once you hit 15, you will get a lot more invites. In the low to mid 30's I kinda had a hard time. I have to agree though, it's tons of fun.

I love thief and would like to take it to 75. IMO, thief is the most demanding melee job in terms of dedication and skill. It is very easy to be a bad thief (although a good thief can be ruined with a bad party).

Regarding parties, I never have made my own parties and I tend to get a lot of invites. More so now that I'm 35+ and have made a solid reputation for myself. It also helps than I'm typically decked in the best gear I can get. If I fish in Port Jeuno with my seek flag on and have search comments I can typically get a party in one to two hours. I also try to reserve my thief leveling to the weekends.

First of all, a good description, above average rank for your level & a positive reputation (gear/skill/attitude) will help you out greatly when it comes to getting invited for a party.

Second of all, I do not agree with your 'most demanding melee job' thingy, I think that award goes to the Ninja.

At first I was leveling thief just for the TH1... but I am starting to like pt's. Today I pt'ed with a Ps2 group, before playing I had to explain to them what (|Sneak Attack|) does. After that was done it was okay from there so far. As for the Elvaan Thief thing I mean.. we aren't that bad... I do good damage as one from the nice group I had I feel like taking Thief far.

Ninja is a tank though. A tank and a melee have two different goals to achieve.

And yes, search comment is very important. Listing you're +DEX, +AGI, @, GC, ect. will help a lot, expecially if there is another thief the same level, race, rank, ect. as you.

Fine, lets compare dmg dealers only. The contestants are:
Rng, thf, war, drk, drg, sam.

Thfs have to compete with 5 other jobs for 1 spot on the pt. Even then, I would take a rng over thf if I have pld.

Lets take a look at tanks:
                        Nin, Pld

Oh wow, you only have to compete with only 1 other job.

My point: Yes, nins do get a ton of invites, and no, thfs dont' get very many. As for the person that claims he gets a lot of invites (usually within 1-2 hours) when he puts up seek and fish, I disagree. I don't think an invite every 1~2 hours is "a lot." Try leaving your character on without seek overnight in your mog house, then wake up next morning and look at your /tell log. You'll probably only get about 1 pt invite. Now try doing the same thing with pld or rng, you'll get at least 3.

And what does that have to do with THF being the most demanding melee?

                          EDIT :

Unless they meant demanding as in wanted in parties, though I took it as a demanding in that you have to pay attention.

Yes, what I meant was that it was the most demanding melee job in that you have to be in charge of party positioning, getting in the proper position for trick attacking, and most likely, you are the puller for the party.

Lol i'm not a noob... Always use Search comments, Always eat food, Always have good gear, the problem is PS2 noobs...

I took my war from 25-30 in 6 hours...
I've spend that amount of time getting thf from 15-18.... People in valk right now just don't get it...

But ima keep going... really gotta get Thf to 30 so i can use it for a Mnk sub upon request... I really like thf, but I've not been able to get a good PT so far.

And btw anyone that turns down Elvaan Thf at this lvl range is stupid... Cause the only person I've seen outdamage me was a Rng
