Hi everyone, since I've started playing on release date. My buddies and I have been trying to pull of a chainskill without any success. Now we are around lvl 15 and have the next WS avaliable. Anyone know what combos can be done with a theif or/and warrior or/and monk or/and white mage. Also, I've read somewhere that you need to wait 3 sec between each WS to pull of a chainskill. Is this correct? So far I haven't seen anyone done a chainskill so I can observe at the order of their WS and timing of it. Thank you.

There are several rules to skillchaining, but here's the basics:
(1) Each skill must "chain" from the previous skill. Using the wrong weapon skill will break the skillchain and result in only normal damage.
(2) You must wait a few seconds between skill activations. A good rule of thumb is 3-4 seconds.
So player A activates, say, Burning Blade(second 1-handed sword skill). Player B then waits 3 seconds, then activates Fast Blade(first one-handed sword skill), which will produce Scission, an Earth-based Skillchain effect which deals a small amount of additional damage. A Black or Red mage could then start casting Stone immediately after the Scission and trigger a Magic Burst to deal even more extra damage.
It takes a fair amount of practice, and a pretty good memory to learn the skillchain combinations and their interactions. I was in the FFXI Beta for 4 months and even now I can only know perhaps a handful of skillchains well enough to activate them reliably.
