  • My Setup

I am a 31blm/9whm with Tibiam but I am going to start a Mithra and be a SAM/RNG but switch THF with RNG sometimes.
    This will be the Setup.
Also, I dont know a name for my Mithra, can someone help?

    Here it is:

    -LvL Thief to 12
    -LvL Warrior to 18
    -LvL Thief to 30
    -Get Ranger activated
    -LvL Ranger to 18
    -Get Samurai activated
    -LvL Samurai to 30
    -LvL Thief to 37
    -LvL Ranger to 37
    -LvL Samurai to 75

Hopefully it would be a steady pace with LvLing, amd during the itime I am lvling my SAM to 75 I may switch back and forth subbing RNG or THF.

Hopefully that will be good, and also can someone give me Armor by lvls when lvling.

    Please level your sub (O_o)

Anyways good luck getting a samurai to level 75, most people get frustrated and quit by the time they are around level 60 or so.

But your idea seems good. RNG and THF are excellent jobs for a Samurai.

Samurai has meditate at level 30. At level 60 other jobs can sub samurai and use it's Meditate ability. Samurai's are then no longer needed. But good luck anyways. (*´д`*)

I'm aware of the Gimping of the freaking meditate and TP nerfs. I'm not much of an Idiot, but still it's rare to see a samurai after level 60-70. If you guys would know anything about how frustrating samurai is at higher levels ( I dunno there's maybe like 30-40 threads on this) you wouldn't have to call me an idiot.

It's also rare to see a DRG past 60, or a SMN past 60. Searching through the server, I find fewer DRGs and SMNs post 60 than SAM (surprising to me since DRGs are one of the most popular jobs). But then again after 60 most people are already in a Perma party, so... moot point.

Listen, wit the TP nerf and the low, LOW accuracy of a great katana, a samurai will have a hard time getting invites because they aren't used for much other than skillchains. Good luck getting a party without a black mage in it, seeing as how they're starting to complain about invites post 65. I'm just saying that samurai isn't really a versatile front line job. If any of you would do some research and talk to post 65 samurai's then you will understand how frustrated they are about their GK accuracy and the TP nerf, which limits them to using a GK now.

the tp nerf doesn't really affect samurais because we dont have any weapon skill that are more than two hits. The accuracy for all weapons is the same based on your skill. Do some research yourself.

Is it just me or do parties "want" more skillchains? More skillchains=more damage=faster fights=more xp:confused: If I get a good blm in party, fights go by quite fast

Rodin, I see you have already a lv17 blm. but before you say something about a job, they are weak with that or hard to get.. blah blah. just play this job till lvl65+ and then post your comment and not before! most people just post something what is not true and its just a rumor..

Actually, post-nerf, I've been getting pt invites that I never woulda got pre-nerf. Being limited to gkt (and bow, buut that's another topic) is not such a bad thing (less money to spend and no more wasting time maxing plm skill every lvl). The nerf happened in the early 60 level of my sam. I was blown away at having to turn down invites all in the sudden because I have a spt. The nerf really raised Sam on the pt member totem poll a bit (versatile renkei combo, ability to pull if needed, good to use to Trick onto someone else [like a nin], etc.).

Anyway, back to main topic. Tibiam, I think you should hold off on Rng until Sam is level 50+. You'll have more gil to blow of arrows and Rng equipment then. I easily spent 250k getting Rng from 1 to 40 and just about anyone will have an easier time doing that with a lvl 50+ job. Personally, I got Rng from 1 to 40 in less than 7 total days (not consecutively) because I didn't have to worry about making money. Using Sam/war or Sam/something is pretty much ok til 50.

Another piece of advice. Unless you get bored with jobs easily, I reccomend getting your primary sub-jobs(s) to 18, 30, or 37 (or 40 for BCNM and/or Ballista) before switching. It's more cost effective and Mog House effective because you don't have to keep gear and items/food around for all these jobs if you can just level one then be able to completely forget about it. The only exception is Rng (and Nin but that's another topic) because of its costs. Make sure you are able to cover the costs of Rng before sinking gil into it.

                              For example:

                              -LvL Thief to 18
                              -Complete subjob quest
-LvL Warrior to 37 (or 40 because War is better for BCNM than Thief imo)
-LvL Thief to 37 (or 40 if you decide you like Thief better than War and want to forget about War)
                              -Get Samurai activated
                              -LvL Samurai to 50
                              -Get Ranger activated
-LvL Ranger to 37 (or 40 because Rng is great for BCNM)
                              -LvL Samurai to 75

For armor, I recommend sticking with NSE (noob specfic equipment) for any job until between lvl 10 through 12. At those levels, you can use scale mail at lvl 10 for war, rng and sam, or Doublet/Brais armor for lvl 11 thf (yes, I hate subligar that shows legs). You can cheat and use those gear until lvl 21. Then, get full Beetle gear. Its lvl 21, cheap (prolly 10k or less for full set) and war, thf, and sam can all wear it. Also, Beetle Subligar doesn't show skin. ^^ For Rng, you can use Lizard gear at lvl 17, then upgrade piecemeal to better armor as you lvl. Hopefully with lvl 50 Sam, you can afford the niceties like Emperor Hairpin (lvl 24), Martial Slacks (lvl 24), and Leaping Boots (lvl 7) (or Winged Boots [lvl 24] for extra def since you'll be stealing hate sometimes). Beestinger (lvl 7), and Archer's knife (lvl 28) are a must for Rng too. Thf can use them, but it's not absolutely neccessary. I forgot how much they cost. If they are cheap, go ahead use them for thf. Like I said, if you can save money and Mog space, go for it. Even if you have to resell/rebuy the Beestinger, keep the Archer's Knife for Skilling up Archery on your Sam. Oh, get Drone Earrings (lvl 35) too for Rng or skilling up Archery for sam.

Also, Sniper's Ring (lvl 40) is a must for Sam and Rng. I wasn't able to get one until lvl 50ish. ;; Actually, since you'lll be playing a Mithra (I play hume), you may not have to stress over it until lvl 50...

Other than that, weapons and equipment upgrades should be easy to decide upon.

One last note: You may want find time to lvl Blm to 17 for warp eventually. It saves time and annoyance over ghetto warping back to Jeuno and isn't that expensive to level. You can do whm/war or rdm/war to 8 or 9, then blm/whm or blm/rdm to 17.

Good luck. This should keep you busy for quite a while. lol.
