Started as a warrior, but not sure of weapon

Yes, they are aloud to use whatever weapon they want. However, it's pretty fucking stupid to be giving up better damage, accuracy, and weaponskills.

im sure if ya use sword on shield.. somone thinks as it as totaly dumb and weak. its all about opinoin.. nothing more.. i do understand your outlook on it but ppl could care less u kno.. like i told a elvaan rdm to use a sword and he told me no staves do better damage and are overall better.. and i said not for low lvls.. he didnt care

It makes a HUGE difference to what somebody uses.

Classes have certain "ranks" when it comes to weapons. For the best damage output, you should use the A rank weapon you have

There are time when using a different weapon for what's best for the party. For instance, a DRK will use a Great Sword to create a light/dark skillchain. Also, some weapons will have curtain +stats on them that will make them better then then A rank weapon.

However, 99 out of 100 times, using the A rank weapon is the best choice. It has nothing to do with an opinion. These are formulas that are calculated using math. It isn't an opinion that 2 + 2 =4. It isn't an opinion that an A rank weapon will bring the best damage/accuracy.

1-40 classes can get by with crappy weapons. 40+ is when weapons really matter. just like subs. unless you leech ur xp like most of those "unique"(dumb as fuk) characters.

If you use a B or lower ranked weapon as your mian, it'll be like your 1-2 levels lower... your cap will start and be 3 points off an A weapon.. thats like being 1 level behind... at 40+ it's like being 2 levels behind...
Using a GS as a pld is only good i would say in very very few situations... you'd be basically like a samuari using a polearm... (except without penta thrust)...
Pld's need to use shields... and they do have some pld only WS's with sword at higher levels...
only use GS for fun but dont gimp any xp parties with GS... your not out there as a pld to do damage, but to take it and hold it... And sheild helps you a lot more at doing your job...

no.

@45 youll be taking too much dmg, thus whm/rdm heal you more, thus less mp for higher chains, thus crappy xp, thus crappy pt.

I've got a lvl 30 Warrior. I started a WAR because I eventually wanted to be a SAM. Also maybe try out PLD if I wanted, so I used a 1hd Sword as my main, only planning on getting WAR to lvl 37. I never used anyother weapon, just sword and shield.

Now however, I'm having second thoughts about SAM. I will still try it, but I really enjoy WAR. So I'm thinking of getting WAR to 50+ (depending if I like it higher lvl).

My problem is that I need to stop using 1hd sword now. I can imagine leveling G'Axe to lvl 90 (my sword skill) will be very hard. How far do you think I can take it soloing (in WS lvls) until I am forced to PT?

I'm just worried because I can see myself being invited to PTs and expected to tank, but cant keep hate for more than 10 secs because I cant hit the thing.

Demon_of_Elru: Ask your LS if they want to create a skill up party. Almost everybody has something they want to level. If you're able to get a full party with peoplea round your level, you could probably max it. If you're able to get a full alliance, then it deffinatly wouldn't be a problem. However, most likely, you won't. Around ~10 levels from cap is fine to stop at and can easily be made up in an EXP party. That's with atleast a WHM or somebody else who can cure a lot (and it's great to have Regen). Solo wise, it'd be pretty hard to get your skill to 50 :p

What are all the A class weapons for warrior?

I'm not sure whether to use axe and shield or sword and shield for my defensive weapons. Axe does a little more damage with a little higher delay.

Unfortunately I spent all of my money on smithing so making 5k for a hellfire axe looks a long way off
