I'm being a Sam/Thief because warriors are overused. =\ Every time you make a thread 'What should my sub class be?' (in reference to being a tanker) it is nearly ALWAYS 'WARRIOR MAN BC IT HAZ TAUNT AND BOOSTS STATS IT PWNS ALL OTHRS HANDS DWN' The hell with that. I'm going my own route. All warriors can kiss my ass.

Jumps are awsome in the sense they deal pretty good damage and build TP quicker than waiting for each attack, however i can't speak for their effectivness when subd =\

as for this - "I'm trying to figure out a job that all partys are impressed by, a job that is a good fighter, that PT's won't just except but want. "

it may be said some of the newer expansion jobs "impress people more" but it's really just a passing thing - they will all be held in the same light as the starting jobs in time. really no particular job impresses people. what people desire and what truely impresses people in this game when it comes to partys would probably be quality of equipment, like "Wow he has the + 1 moded version of that sword." or "wow that food she eats is expensive." and the other big factor is how well you play and maintin your role during a PT. those are the things that make people hold you in higher regard - not so much jobs.

            Well Nodachi...

All I can say is that you have been extremely useful thanks for all your help... However now to pester you (or anyone else) more:

            1. When I said Dragoon and Paladin, I was considering them as main jobs, not subs. I heard Jump sucked in this game though.

            2. I don't understand the difference between Renkei and WS?

            3. I assume that arrgoed(sp?) monsters are ones that will attack you unprovoked, and that hate just makes the monster want to attack that person. Is there anything more to this?

            4. I don't really understand weapon leveling... at all.

            5. By interesting, I more meant what class will make partys say "Hey wanna PT with us?"

            6. The main reason I want a thief is that I prefer DEX & AGI to STR & HP is this stupid? Do DEX and AGI make a difference?

            7. Does INT determine anything other than BLK magic strength?

            8. I like the 2 handed Katana but a lot of people are saying spear is better for higher lvls why is this?

            9. What's the lvl cap right now for the JP edition? Because shouldn't I EVENTUALLY get triple attack as a passive abililty (lvl 55 btw)

            10. Is the Samurai job hard to obtain? Is it like the DRG where you NEED a party or like the DRK where you can solo?

            11. And my last stupid question (for now) I want to be a Hume, but after looking at the stat calculator not sure how much I trust it but Elvaan have more HP and STR, but Hume have more DEX and AGI... again I guess it's How usefull is accuracy and evasion in this game?

            Thanks for your time.

Some of your questions are statements and the others I just don't know the answer to,
so I'll just answer the ones I'm more sure about.

#2: WS' are Weapon Skills, Renkei is when you combine multiple weapon skills.

#3: Besides the different things that can add to hate, not really (that I know of anyway.)

#4: You use something, you gain points. :p
There are caps at each lvl and depending on your job,
one skill type may be higher or lower than others
which will give you a higher or lower cap.
For example, every job can use a 1h Club
(at least one weapon per job it seems :x),
but Paladins have the highest skill grade in it,
so they have the highest skill cap.

#5: Basically, if you fit a role well, you get in.

              #6: Its not stupid. :/
              Dex/Agi always make a difference,
but they REALLY make a difference when you’re a Thief.

#7: I’ve heard it affects the strength of White Magic power, but I’m not sure.
The whole thing has been bouncin’ around. ._.

#9: The cap was just made lvl 70, there is a quest you have to do to get past lvl 65.

#11: Do whatever you want. Don’t think about stats (unless you’re a galka and want to be a mage. :x)
              Rude, but not wrong. ;x

-Berserk- Boring.... and I'm sure it probably makes almost NO difference.

-Defender- Same as Berserk only... lamer.

-War Cry- Well your already taking the damage you may as well get it over fast and up your homies stats.

-Aggressor- It's not like your trying to evade anyways.

                  Thief's Triple Attack >>>>>>>> Warrior's Double Attack
As a warrior, it's MUCH better to leave taking hits to the monks... and warrior's AGI isn't really low--they dodge pretty damn well if you're elvaan, and AGI is also one of those crucial stats as a WAR because you definetely don't want to be taking all the hits when solo'ing, it helps, for sure. Make sure te monk in your party is taking the hits at all times-they make great tanks at first!! And use berserk, it DOES help, most monsters you fight at one point take your HP down to red, +3-10 damage can make a HUGE difference... er... doing like 15 damage a hit at lv.19 is awesome, so if you get a +5 bonus on that it helps...alot. Anyway i have alot to say but i can't seem to put it into words, so wathever, you get the picture

                    Muchas gracias mi amigo!

Thanks for all your help... All of you. One more question though, well really more of your opinion I guess. For just a Samurai/Thief, which race would be better? Hume... or Elvaan? Oh one last thing (in this post I promise) kinda complex:

You can equip items that will change your stats yes? Such as rings and what not? What are all/how many different things can you equip? Are there items that will lower hate? (since I'm not really a Tanker with THF, and SAM AF adds it... not to mention WS etc...) Or any other ways to lower hate or other items etc... you think would be beneficial to a SAM/THF?

Hume or Elvaan? Well if you went hume you would do a bit less damage, but end up hitting more oftend. If you did Elvaan you would hit for slighty more but hit less (also have more hp). Overall there is little difference, because as elvaan you will be hitting of for more yes but end up missing one that the hume might have hit there for evening out the total damage.

But I suppose at higher levels the elvaan would begin to pull ahead a tiny bit. So if you are all about stats then go elvaan.

What I recomend though is do which ever race you think looks coolest. I am willing to sacrafice some extra damage if I think I look cool doing it. PLus to me when you dodge an attack (will be doing more of as hume), it just cool sort of like an extra hit in. Although in the long run it probably does not matter.

This is the best thing i've heard in this topic . Who cares what people are going to be just play how you are suppose to play and everything will be good.

Heh..Just had to say this.. I still wouldn't choose Thief as your sub. I'm at level 27 Thief right now and inless your level 50 you wont get much out of it as a Sub Job. The best thing you can do with a Thief is Sneak and high damage in Renkei's, but i'm not sure you can perform that great with it as your sub. But I wouldn't try it as my sub anyways..to high.

I agree, THF wouldn't be a good overall support job for SAM, especially at the beginning. The THF job doesn't really become useful until LVL15(when they can use Backstab), so you would have to be SAM LVL30 main job to get anything out of your THF support. On top of that, your Backstab ability is severely neutered since THF is support instead of main. With THF support, your Backstab only amounts to a critical hit, which is more or less 2x your regular damage. With THF main, that damage becomes almost 4x-5x your regular damage.

As for best race for SAM/THF, I think Elvaan would make a better class since they are have more HP and generally stronger than Humans in melee class. The HP actually will not matter that much since you probably won't get attacked much because of your lack of a Taunt ability, but better safe than sorry I suppose

Of course, this is all up to you what you want to do Play what you like, experiment, and just have fun

                            A question ...

Since people mentioned weapons here, I have a little question :

If you start out as Samurai with a Katana , but then decide to switch to a spear, will it be hard ? Do you have to fight for a long time with it to get good WS ?
