Re: Equip at 60 for Elvaan RDM

I have all three RDM Gear sets on me at all times. I actually wear Wise around--I dunno... I've grown rather accustomed to the pink clogs and wicker basket pants.

Anyway... Wise gloves are nice. They don't leave my hands--there's not much to replace them with unless you have Duellist. The other pieces of the set get macroed in for various spells.

Paralyze/Slow [spells whose effect is based on the amount of Stat you have]: +Stat > +Skill > +Magic Accuracy [Assign AF, Errant, Wise based on this]

Gravity/Silence/Sleep [Spells whose effect is not based on Stat, but need to stick]: +Skill > +Magic Accuracy > +Stat

Nuke [Spells with a basic potency that have tiered resistance tied to skill, accuracy, and stat differentials]: +Damage > +Skill > +Magic Accuracy > +Stat.

The last category is tricky, and I'll say that I'm not 100% Sure here, but I feel I get good performance out of the Wise here (I use Warlock's Chapeau instead of Wise Cap though).

Re: Equip at 60 for Elvaan RDM

I don't see the appeal to Wise Gloves. The only useful caster stat they give is +4 MND, but I already get +5 from my Devotee's Mitts for a lot less. For spells that require INT, I just swap in my Errant Cuffs.

I do have some Wise Pigaches that I swap out with my Errant Pigaches, but that's really the only piece I've been able to justify purchasing.

I just don't have enough problems with Magic Accuracy to warrant the purchase* of a full set of Wise gear. Maybe if I do in the future? I don't know.

*Not because NQ Wise gear is pricey. I just can't afford the inventory cost of making room for it.

Re: Equip at 60 for Elvaan RDM

Me, personally, I don't care much for trying to min/max my stats as far as enfeebling goes on my RDM. When I get to the point that I start doing HNMs/Gods again and such, then I will focus on a BLM sub and +Enfeeb. skill and +INT/MND.

I was more interested in getting +MP to be a cure tank for the breadth of my career, so as far as all of my equipment went, it was focused on +MP. I subbed /whm of course. With the high mp pool I had, I was able to refresh and haste up to 3 ppl on a regular basis and still throw out the odd dia2/bio2/grav ... and I would leave slows and paras to a nin. But that's just what I found most effective in my pt invites.

However, everything everyone else has mentioned here is great info. You basically want any equipment that focuses on skill first then stats.

I have always wondered though, was it ever worth subbing BLM to use the elemental enfeebles? Because, if so, gearing up for Elem. skill + INT would be the way to go there and there's quite a few items that give +elem skill.

I used to cast Frost and other Elemental Enfeebles a lot in parties. But this was in like, the 50-60s range when I could sub BLM. I usually sub WHM these days.

Your exp set-up looks pretty good, but I'd replace Eremite's and Saintly rings with Zircon and Aquamarine rings, respectively.

Edit: You could also use Devotee's Mitts macroed in on your hands (+5 MND is nothing to sneeze at), and a Promise Badge instead of Justice if you are able to... not really a huge deal since you'll get Torques at 66 (65 for Spider).

Chains of Promathia 8 - 1 "Garden of Antiquity"
Treasures of Aht Urghan 13 "Lost Kingdom"

Re: Equip at 60 for Elvaan RDM

Wow thanks for all the replies, Iv not been here for a bit.

Just to update - Im 10k to 62, using (XP setup):

              Main: E Staves (macroed)
              Ranged: Morion Tathlum
              Head: AF
Neck: Promise Badge/ Philomath Stole (Macroed)
              Ear 1: Geist Earring
              Ear 2: Black Earring
              Body: AF
              Hands: RSE
              Rings: Aqua/Zircon (macroed)
              Back: Red Cape +1
              Waist: Peni Rope
              Legs: AF
              Feet: RSE

Now I know I really really want the RSE2 Gloves, if anything, for the +55MP, but on Bahamut the male versions are close to 1M...So I think I will save up a few (20ish) more seals and see if I get lucky BCNM'ing them like I did the Peni.

If I do get the gloves, no need for Devotee's right?

I would like the RSE2 Feet as well, but the stats if I remember are not overly "uber".

But the last thing I want to do is to buy a peice and then having to rebuy another piece to replace it after 2 or 3 levels so I am currently looking at 65+ as well. The Spider Torque I am going to struggle on ><

All in all, I seem to be doing ok though. My MP pool is around 500 mark, and from that I can do all I need to do, and still throw in a few Nukes as well.

Refresh meself, and inter-weave hastes and refreshes with all my enfeebs (Dia/Bio, Slow, Para, Poison)

Im feeling lazy right now though so I will look up the stats later, then more importantly...the price :p

Re: Equip at 60 for Elvaan RDM

Devotee's are dirt cheap. So you might want to get them until you can afford the RSE2, and just macro them out for INT based spells.

Re: Equip at 60 for Elvaan RDM

I use the RSE2 feet for int enfeebles and convert macros - 30 mp is pretty good on feet. I know I could get the wise feet for more, but I can't justify another inventory space lost.

Another piece to work towards when you can is the Yigit Hands - +5 int and mnd in one pair of gloves. No need to macro swap for me!

                    Slow - MND
                    Paralyze - MND
                    Gravity - INT
                    Poison - INT
                    Bio - INT

You forgot Bind, which is INT, but you don't really cast that one so often anyway. I don't even have it in my regular macro bank. Otherwise, yeah. Some of those spells are going to rely a bit less on the stat, and others more, but those are the correct assignments, regardless.

If I can ever get into an Assault group, there are a few Yigit pieces I have my eye on. I haven't done any as yet. Nor Salvage. I'm so tired of being a PSC.

                        Murphie,

You are correct I left out Bind, I just listed my main macro list. I am glad I got it right though, some (like Grav) I wasnt too sure on.

I am in the same boat as you mate, with Assualts. I have done all that needs to be done, just need an assault group :p

Here's a handy tip so you know which spells need which stat.

If your right arm goes up in your casting motion, it's a white magic spell. White magic = MND

If both your arms go out in that weird thing elvaan males do, it's a black magic spell. Black magic = INT
                          召75|吟75|黒75|赤75|戦72|白60|獣40|忍37| 暗37|シ37|ナ32|侍30|モ30|竜21|青14||か8| 狩7|コ7
                          San D'oria: Rank 10 | Windurst: Rank 10 | Bastok: Rank 10 | Cooking: 97 | Zilart - Completed | CoP - Completed

Two words - Hale Ring. I know it's level 50, but it's a awesome piece to have at this level esp. if you already have Tamas.
