Your main tank party in Dynamis was PLD WHM RDM THF SAM MNK? Scary. I'd get some religion and start praying for divine intervention, because if your main tank party is set up that way, it'll take a miracle for you to clear a zone....

Yeah....mebbe it's a goofy definition of main tank in that LS? Maybe they are the pullers and PLD is main caller/tank and they have other offtanks in proper PTs? Otherwise I'm with Ice on this that you are never going to clear a zone unless you go zerg style.

Agreed... I'm often refresher for the main tank party, and our setups usually consist of PLDx3 WHMx2 RDM, or PLDx4 WHM RDM if the WHM is really good. The melees in that setup should be where they belong... in a melee party.

Re: What is the role of RDm in Dynamis?

First off, it's helpful to find out what 'team' you're on. If you're on the puller/kiter team you'll more than likely are going to be sleeping mobs and holding them, while occasionally healing/refreshing whenever you have a chance. If you're in the melee or tank team you'll be more enfeebling/healing/refreshing/nuking with an occasional sleep if the puller/kiter team is struggling.

Re: What is the role of RDm in Dynamis?

Depends on what party you are in, but you should always be ready to sleep or silence anything that needs it.

I'm surprised to see so little mention of silence on this thread so far - it's very powerful in dynamis. BST pets can cast Breakga, Silencega, Paralyga and Dispelga if they are not silenced, which are all extremely annoying or even dangerous. Even NM beastmen are generally not immune to silence.

Aside from that, depending on party setup it can range from mostly refresh (BLM parties), haste, healing and bar spells (if your LS has enough RDMs to put some in melee parties), or refresh, haste and backup healing (tank parties).

Right you are! I knew I was forgetting something! Yes, thats another one of the main points of RDM in Dynamis, especially the Vanguard's Scorpions in Dynamis-Bastok... a well placed Breakga can lead to a wipe if you're not careful.

I was just doing what I was told to do! lol It was my first time, and we got pretty close to getting the flag.

We did pretty well until some idiot woke up somebody's Shiva avatar, and she killed every single person in one fell swoop. This was Dynamis - Jeuno, and just on the way to the final statue the BLMs got a little excited and walked into a congested area and wiped. /angry So with 10 minutes left they get slaughtered and we kinda got stuck. Shell basically broke after that. Not enough PLDs, not enough WHMs, not enough experience. So with my work schedule, I've yet to find a group that I can even go with. /cry I had a lotta fun during that run, I would really like to do it as often as possible. For drops and the fun.

Maybe that's what you were told, but I'm dubious. See my reasons below.

We did pretty well until some idiot woke up somebody's Shiva avatar, and she killed every single person in one fell swoop.
If you've got people waking avatars, I'd hate to see what that same person would do near the Death House in Dynamis-Windurst (so named because if you walk more than a couple inches too far off the wall while passing by, it will spawn such a huge mass of death and destruction that it will single-handedly kill your entire multi-alliance).

A proper clear on Dynamis-Jeuno leaves very little in terms of randomly triggerable aggro on the map. Theoretically, if you're ready for the final boss, you've cleared the upper quadrangle, the palace, the statue near Maat, and the palace again(second time, since it respawns). There's not much of anything to accidentally aggro unless you somehow walk downstairs into the lower courtyard where the Consulates are, run directly into the AH, or run into the final boss.

Hence my skepticism of being close to getting the key item; I can't think of anything your BLMs could have accidentally wandered into anywhere on the Dynamis-Jeuno map - pretty much everything on the top should be dead except the above-mentioned areas: the lower courtyard, the section near the AH, and the zoneline where the boss spawns.

                      ---

Either way, it's probably best that you didn't stay with that Dynamis shell. Poorly organized Dynamis runs make the game less fun, not more (yes, I know you said you had a good time for the first run, but trust me, the newness wears off if you die 5 times or more per run due to people doing Stupid Stuff).

We had one run where we got just past that house and someone cast dia on an avatar.
