  • Divine Magic (This is for you experts)

    Hello folks, I was wondering if some of you gurus had any knowlege of divine magics. The Pally in my static party basically is curious if there is anyway to get more out of his flash spell.

    I am sure the pally forums would be a better place but I also know some of you are very interested in statistics and stats.

    Some of my friend's main questions are: Will a moldavite earing help, or are divine magic and mnd the only considerations.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Moldavite only helps with spell damage, so basically nukes of some kind. Not sure if it helps with Banish series/Holy or not, but it certainly won't do anything for Flash. That spell does no damage.
    I would assume that yeah, Divine Magic and MND would be the primary stats. It's a short-lived spell though, don't expect it to last more than maybe a couple rounds of attacks from the mob.

    Might ask on the WHM boards as they also have the spell, we're still trying to figure out why we have Divine skill in the first place >_>;
    (yes yes I know, for when we get spells from a sub)

      Since its a shortlived spell he would do better with more enmity+ gear to increase its hate gained.

        I am pretty sure Banish series in terms of damage are calculated in INT arent they? Since they do damage....but i am not sure since it does have the White Magic dot in front of it and some say its MND and others say INT..and others say its neither @_@;;; Bah.

        As for Flash i am not sure if its affected by MND...i usually have 20 MND equipped and i can take off all my MND gear and try flashing a few mobs and see if theres any difference.

          Flash seems minimally affected by Divine Magic skill, but for RDMs it doesn't really matter since the only way you can cast it as a RDM is to sub Paladin at level 74/37+ (and who does that?).

          For what it's worth, with 294 Divine Magic and a Light Staff, I'm still batting 0.000 against Fenrir with Flash. Resists me every single time.

          For a paladin, Flash is basically a second provoke with a longer timer that costs MP. There's no reaosn to go out of your way to "help" it as Paladin - those item slots are better used in improving enmity rating, defense, VIT, etc.

            I’m the paladin in Drow Static,

            I always avoid 2 hits per flash and I was wondering if there was a way to make it last longer. Seeing that nukes can have items to improve dmg, my questioning was to see if there was a way to make Flash last abit longer, like avoiding 3 or 4 hits instead of 2.

            And any good paladin would know not to use a slot for that kind of item. Macros are your best friend.

              Honestly dude, I just wouldn't worry about it. I understand why you want to try and I'm not saying you're wrong to want to avoid a few hits but it really isn't worth the effort. If you must, you can macro in some MND rings or something and keep your Divine skill capped at all times. But realize, if you do that then you also have to make a macro to re-equip your normal tank gear. So you're talking about hitting 2 macros where one would normally do. Ice is right about Flash. It's there for hate and nothing else. But if you're intent on trying, then I say good luck to ya and I hope it works out. ^_^

                Only thing i see Divine Magic helping with flash is that the higher the skill the harder it is to interupt.
