RDM Race and Sub

I'm glad I found this. All the research and info I've been given from other RDMs had me thinking that you sub BLM to Lv.40, then WHM all the way to Lv.75. And I was not looking forward to that at all.

The reasoning for that was:

Macro - Convert
/jobability "Divine Seal" <p0>
/jobability Convert <p0>
/magic "Cure IV" <p0>

Now I hear all these people who are in their 70's and have never touched WHM job a day in their life. I heard this and got excited.

I always planned to level WHM to Lv.42, but that was for Teleport Taxi services. I hate being the full on Cure Monkey. I hated it at the lower levels being put into a WHM's place because the leader couldn't find one. I could easily do the job, just hated doing the job.

I know leveling WHM isn't really that difficult, it's just annoying to solo to Lv.10, and then trying to find a decent or even good party in some places.

All Melee parties in Maze of Shakrami, or crappy tanks and no BLMs in Valkrum. I can't wait until I have all jobs to Lv.20 so I can never have to worry about Valkrum ever again!

I have been a RDM/WHM from day 1. I read all of Jei's posts about him starting as a WHM and it won my heart. I took the advice of the RDM sages at the time and leveled my sub before tackling RDM, giving me a good feel for the game up to lvl 30 and also giving me macro/casting experience.

I really enjoy RDM/WHM. I still get a stiffy when I Convert/Divine Seal/Cure IV. Lately (lvl 62) we have been fighting Torama's and I come in very handy. I usually just look at the text while I XP anyway to see if my enfeebles stick and whatnot, so when I read "Torama readies Blaster" (paralyze) I immediately hit alt-m and Paralyna-F#. The WHM usually misses the text but since us RDMs are trained to do 1000 things at once, I usually handle it.

BTW, I swear RDMs are made for ADD people. Do any of the other classes have to juggle as many things as we do? Enfeeble, watch to make sure they stick and if not recast, always Refresh, occasional Dispel and Cure, /WHMs healing status and /BLMs throwing elementals (/WHMs can throw em too ^^).

Honestly, I think the only other job that does as much work as a good RDM does, is a NIN. They have a lot of work to do to hold hate. But all our spells, and all the things we have to pay attention to, that means a lot of work for us! But I love it, and wouldn't have it any other way.

Leveling DRK I check how much EXP I need to level like every 5 minutes. As RDM, I can be playing for 3 hours, level twice, and never look once! I love this job!

I enjoy DRK, but it's not nearly as much fun as RDM is.

though some may take that as an insulting comment, i'd say it's true. i have ADD myself, and this job is the only one that keeps me entertained long enough to not just turn off the comp and run outside and chase random things around the yard. i seriously had that urge playing white mage one day while i was tapping my cure macro. that's why i like my red mage, i never have enough time to think about other stuff while in a party. thinking gets me in trouble sometimes. :sweat:
