Healing your party while locked on a mob?

Please forgive what is probably a blatant n00b question (and one whose answer is almost certainly *somewhere* on this board), but what is the best way to heal members of your party while your prinary target is still on the monster you're tanking?

I've a couple of hi-level PLDs, and many have a macro for each party member at their highest Cure level. However, others refer to secondary targeting options like <bt> and <st>, which I have not been able to make work in an especially useful way.

Isn't there a way to have one macro for a Cure spell, and simply select the recipient before casting the spell, while still locked on the mob?

Use one like this /ma "Cure II" <stpc>
That will target pcs only with the purple secondary target cursor. You can then use f1-6 to quickly target the party member and fire. This is the only way I know of for Paladins to cure party members while fighting short doing it manual or having a macro for every single party member.

This will let you switch through party members like Rones said, also, if for some reason you are saying who you are curing in that macro, use <lastst> and it will say their name instead of the mobs name (I have met waaay too mant RDM who didn't know this and they would say "Casting Cure on Greater Pugil! <mpp> MP remaining!)

This works well for cover so you can write something like:

/ja "Cover" <stpc>
/p Covering <lastst> Get Behind me now!

Using the one suggested is probably the best method makes 1 macro very versitile. An alternate also if you dislike using the F1-F6 is to create macro's like this:

Macro Set1:

Ctl+1
/ma "Cure ??" <p0> (yourself)

Ctl+2
/ma "Cure ??" <p1> (member just under you on your list)

Ctl+3
/ma "Cure ??" <p2> (second member under you on list)

Ctl+4
/ma "Cure ??" <p3> (thrid member under you)

Ctl+5
/ma "Cure ??" <p4> (fourth)

Ctl+6
/ma "Cure ??" <p5>

Macro Set2:
Ctl+1
/ma "Cure ??" <a00> (First alliance, first member)

Ctl+2
/ma "Cure ??" <a01> (First alliance, second member)

etc....

Ctl+6
/ma "Cure ??" <a05> (First alliance, sixth member)

Macro Set3:
Ctl+1
/ma "Cure ??" <a10> (Second alliance, first member)

Ctl+2
/ma "Cure ??" <a11> (Second alliance, second member)

etc....

Ctl+6
/ma "Cure ??" <a15> (Second alliance, sixth member)

As you can see though this method is very cluttering. The first macro set only provides a slight faster reaction to the method already suggested so not a huge point having it. The other two sets MIGHT help in an alliance to save an alliance member faster, because in a full alliance relying on <stpc> to get that person fast enough will be tough (Still may not be needed if each party in the alliance has a healer and are good healers at that).

Do people usually have just one healing macro, and then select themselves or a party member, or is it most useful to have a <me> macro and a separate <stpc> macro for each spell?

If using <stpc> with the F1-F6 keys, there is no need to make a <me> macro. just using the <stpc> and hitting F1 is the <me> macro.

Actually, I believe that you don't havt to hit F1 on a <stpc> macro, because the cursor will automatically be placed on your character, but don't quote me on this, I need to check it.

Actually, that's probably right. I know that <stnpc> when used will first target what ever you already have targeted but if nothing is targeted it does closest one. When targeting players in this manner there isn't a player closer to you then you.

So <stpc> I think would target you first. As long as you don't have another player already targeted.

<stpc> does target you first, it's actually the only way i have my cure macros set up, just to save space for the future, not i play pld much

You can also use ctrl + M.
On pld I have only one macro, my voke macro which I also use to know the cooldown on other abilities or spells. For example I know that by the 3rd voke Flash will be just up, then available again halfway to the 5th one and such.

So I use ctrl + key to do rest.
Ctrl + M = spells
Ctrl + W = Weaponskills
Ctrl + J = Abilities

I have two sets of cure macros. One set for all three cures with <me> in them. That way I can click them immediately after the mobs last swing and quickly get it off without my cast being interupted.

The second set is with <stpc> and with /p curing <lastst> that way I can cure whoever may take aggro from me and let the mages know I am using some of my precious mp on said aggro sponge. This prevents redundant healing.
