Low prices in general are still mostly beneficial, because you still get just as much from beastmen, treasure chests and quests that give gil. (You also pay just as much for purchases from NPCs, but only mages have to buy things from NPCs.) Also, of course, deflation increases the value of everyone's gil they already have.

Any job can be ridiculously expensive if you want the absolutely best possible everything (yes, the Kote fall in this category). If you just want pretty good gear - good enough to earn good exp if the party is skilled and works together well - you can generally outfit most jobs for under 100K at least up to level 50 or so (not counting the costs of spells, ammo or ninjutsu tools; jobs that require those really *are* more expensive.) And of course 50-60 you start getting AF armors, which are always at least pretty good.

Don't be intimidated by the rich players (almost all JP, it takes years to accumulate that kind of money) with a level 75 other job. You don't need millions of gil to do your role well; SE just added some stuff that gives *slight* improvements so that rich players could show off.
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
    RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

Probably the most expensive purchase that most paladins make is the Gluttony sword, that's at level 57.

The best part about being a pld is that your AF armor is good enough to hold you all the way through level 75. So your wallet will be emptied by purchasing accessories like shields, and... magic... and maybe adaman armor if you can handle it.

Only a PLD would call spells an "accessory."
Retired for good this time; been a fun ride everybody.

If you're worried about the money for higher-end stuff, just slow down your levelling a little. *If* (and although I keep hearing it, I've seen nothing official) the level cap goes up in the fall, all the 70-75 gear is going to become dirt cheap very quickly when everyone evolves past it at once.

Of course, the stuff you need to have at the *new* level cap will probably be even more expensive than the 75 stuff, simply because a ton of players will want it at the same time, instead of in the trickle we have right now.

Still, the people who are going to be most screwed financially are the current 75's who all sell their stuff at once (for cheap) and yet need all the new gear right away (for ridiculous expense). People who hit the new cap later will only benefit from abundant 75 gear and an end-game with costs that will have started to equalize by the time we get there.

Adaman armour is not necessary to be a good pld, your hate skills are. I bought mine for the looks, if that says anything.

Pld certainly isn't one of the cheapest jobs, especially at higher lvls. While some stuff isn't a neccesity like adaman armor, they are still nice pieces and worth getting if you can raise the money. Here are some of my planned purchases in the coming lvls:
                hume rse belt: 100-200k
vigor rings (if I can ever find them, if not topaz rings) 200k each
                cassie earring 600k
                koenig shield 500-600k
lvl 70 bow that has +3 vit and +10 hp 500-600k
                complete adaman set 2.5mil
                company sword 300k
earth staff 250-300k (depends if I do any tough hnms in the near future)
                behemoth mantle 1mil
As far as expensive go, by lvl 75 I would say pld is deffinatly up there w/ some of the most expenisve jobs.

                  LVL54: Vigor Ring (X2) ~400,000gil each
                  LVL57: Gluttony ~350,000gil
                  LVL60: Behemoth Mantle ~1,500,000gil
                  LVL65: Save the Queen ~500,000gil
                  LVL66: Diamond Shield +1 ~1,000,000gil
                  LVL66: Espadon +1 ~500,000gil
                  LVL70: Rosenbogen ~1,000,000gil
                  LVL72: Ice Shield ~ 750,000gil

(NOTE~ I did buy a full set of Darksteel, but I never used it except when soloing PLD/NIN in boyahda on decent challenges. I do not recall how much this cost, but it was not that much. Please also realize I am eccentric about having what I feel is top equipment, but you can get by just fine without this as there are other options.)

                  ***

This is what I have bought for future levels (I also like to be prepared...)

                  LVL73: Adaman Armet ~ 400,000gil
                  LVL73: Adaman Gauntlets ~450,000gil
                  LVL73: Adaman Cuirass ~850,000gil
                  LVL73: Adaman Cuisses ~450,000gil
                  LVL73: Adaman Sabotons ~450,000gil
                  LVL73: Koenig Shield ~670,000gil
WOW looks like I need to sell my Lu Shang rod then and better start farming since my paladin is level 9 right now.
