    Excalibur Lv 75 DMG49 Delay233 RDM/PLD
Attack+20 Additional effect : Damage proportionate to current HP
    WHY NOT USE THIS!?
no +vit no +%dmg reduction. I would never use vs HNM, however I would gladly use in an exp pt. You want to try and maximize damage for exp pts since the only goal is most exp per hour.

Heres a question, has anyone bothered to confirm HOW the latent on StQ works? I'm under the impression that it will trigger only when Cover is activated. Remember that Latent Effect doesn't always mean 'low hp = trigger'.

I've only partied with 1 paladin that used Save the Queen, and it seemed that the latent effect was in effect the majority of the time. He didn't use cover more than once in a 3-4 hour exp session. Using StQ, he out-tp'd the dark on every single chain, and the dark had very good equipment.
      For The Horde!!
Current Gil total spent on gear:
      3,235,000
      Current Gil Value of gear:
      1,151,000

It's not hard to out tp a drk in xp group. Cuz a tank doesn't just get tp from atk but also get tp from been attacked. I can normally out tp the drk after the initial mob. It's not that hard to do at all. The drk has decent gear as well includes Hauberk.

i was under the impression that save the queen latent effect was activated only when cover was used. and the pld should gain tp faster than the dark as the pld being tank gets hit and builds up the tp :D

as for what uber sword to use, i'm going to sub a ninja and get 2 wingblades, i may be lfg forever but at least i'll look good. when i get that high.

If the latent effect = Cover... it's a waste of money for me. The only time I use Cover, is when I BCNM with a Ranger, and Lv. 65 can't sword can't be used in the BCNM60s. I'll just get an Esp +1 when I hit Lv. 66.

I've been using Espadon+1 since 66, I loose the +7 vit from Gluttony but dmg taken wise, not a lot of difference with def food.

sorry, off topic. thefallenranger, is that your pic? very attractive

Excalibur isnt going to be much of a xp party tool, unless they raise the cap, or, unless your using it to bring all your friends up to lvl 75 with you. Not to mention, the level of difficulity to obtain that weapon, your more likely to get lvl 75 long, long before you can complete the weapon's forging details. The actual ingredients and proceedures is incomplete as far as I can find.

I've said this on my server for a long, long time. The type of sword doesnt make the paladin, its the hate control. But for arguments sake, Gluttony is one of the best paladin swords you can have. If your not searching for any real damage production, just sit there and get beat on. Lionhart said on another thread, VIT is your main exp factor.

Its hard to say what sword you -should- get at those levels, cause its rare for me to see a whole lot of paladins on my server holding to one specific type of blade. I see Dainslaif, Ridill, Joyeuse, Gluttony, Es..whatever +1 all the time on tons of the plds. If you want to take less damage, go with the plus vit sword, want damage, go with one of the others. Kinda just depends on what your own preferances are.

                  Pld's can't use the Ridill. =\

And I would think in the next expansion squaresoft will make items tuned to tanking with sword/shield again. I.E. Excalibur and a shield with damage reduction like the Genbu Shield.
                  Screw this game.

Looks like I'll buy the Esp+1 after my specs sell... I already have the Gluttony, and I was talking a very nice paladin last night (spoke great english) and he told me he used StQ from 65-70, then switched to a Company Sword. Never heard anyone go from StQ > Company...

You are right about the main factor of a paladin: Hate control. I think I'm good at my job, due to the fact that I only really need to tank half a fight (thank you spinning slash). Mainly, I'm only confused on equipment. I've used the gluttony and to be honest, I can't really notice any difference in the damage I take between the regular Espadon that I'm currently using and the glutt. sword. Seems that everything still hits me for the same amount.

Another thing I'm confused on: Shield.
Ritter Shield... I see some of the top paladins on my server using it when the Koenig (statistically) is better. I think the looks of the Ritter Shield are very nice, and just like Miles says, "Because looking good, is priority in online games..." I'm still far from the ritter/koenig shields. I should hit 67 tomorrow night, and maybe get my LS to hunt for a Dainslaif (just for the hell of it.). Thanks for all your imput guys.

The Dainslaf is droped from Preconsul XII in Quicksands. Fair warning tho, he takes a PT of 70+ to kill. About 7 months ago, a couple 65's could take em out...then they made him all buff.

I use an Espadon+1 now since I am lvl 66, although I will never sell it since it will be good for really hard hitting mobs plus the sword dropped from 300k ->160k, since I would be losing 140k it really doesn't seem worth selling anyway.

Ritter Shield is nice dont think I'm gonna sell it until I hit 73 to use my koenig shield. But I really want that genbu shield to go with my jelly ring and defender ring.

                              You can't use genbu shield.
