Koenig Armor?

BRDs and BSTs have the highest charisma stats in the whole game but you dont see them taking away hate from the tanks (exept bst, they dont party often), otherwise if the chr 2 = 1 emnity trade of were true, a bard would take the hate away from a tank rather quickly with a couple of songs. but now it would make sense why many unique brd equipment, and other mage equipment, deduct emnity... i really dont know, this is just pure guessing

It is simple enough to test. Even at low levels, take a taru (high chr) war and a galka or mithra (low chr) war, have them PT together and provoke a monster at the same time. Observe where the monster goes.

I've already done this and the Taru war won out all the time. In fact when the galka war tried to provoke the mob off the taru, it didn't work.

This was done with both wars. at lvl 10 they were both wearing starter gear.

One quick question about the Koenig/Kaiser Armor...

If it is Rare/Ex, wouldn't that mean that you would have to have those crafting levels yourself?

The cursed armor itself is not EX. It turns EX after you cure it.

I feel jipped. All the cool stuff goes to the pld's I bet the chief equipment designer at SE, plays as a pld. Must be.

And as for enemenity, the interview with SE said that chr has no effect on enemenity

but people keep saying that maybe provoke is affected by chr. So who knows.

Bst can wear adaman cursed. Why would you want tanking gear as a bst when you can just grab a pet and have it tank for you?

And charisma affects provoke. Its been proven countless times and theres no logic in squaresoft giving the ultimate tanking gear +60 charisma and have no affect on tanking.

but one other point about the koening set disturbs me. The shield.

It's got beast killer ability on it. A lv 70 bst job trait. From various rumors, the shield gives you the ability even as a pld or war or drk. (same thing for general's shield and admiral's shield - aquarian killer) (you don't even need to do any special quests or uber hard thing to get these, just buy from AH)

That's just totally unfair. A lv 70 job trait??? come on. That's just not right on equipment balance issues. At the very least, let bst equip it. They have the job ability but can't use a piece of eq that actually enhances their ability. Something just doesnt sit right with me on that one issue.

How would pld's feel if the best shield (in terms of stats) and gave some pld only ability, like shield bash or something, was assigned to another job like blm and was not pld equippable? Where's the logic or fairness in that?

mnk's already gave up counter attack to avenger's earrings and ninja's dual wield might be given by suppanomimi (rare EX hard to get earring lv 72) but those are just lv 10 abilities. A lv 70 ability shouldn't just get handed out so easily.

The best shields in the game CAN'T be equipped by paladin

Genbu's shield... 24-25 defense -10% physical damage and a few other bonuses.

And that other 28 def shield with +10 shield skill.

Thankfully they look rubbish anyway... the third best shield as far as plds are concerned are kaiser/koenigs.... and they look uber!

true, genbu's shield is very uber but hey, it's also very very hard to get. I don't have a problem with that. If it's insanely hard to get, then it should have some super power that the rest of us will just have to look at and drool.

You can buy the koening shield. It's not even all that expensive compared to other stuff out there.

I just feel jipped (read as feeling less special) that a lv 70 skill that would have taken me months or even a year+ to get can be had by another job just by equipping a shield. It'd be like putting rampart on a bst only equippable shoes or something.

Hey, if other jobs ran around with all the skills that we assumed would be the unique benefits of another job, then what's the point of the job system?

It's funny how the Genbu shield is the only shield that a Bard can use. I guess it could come in handy if you had shield skills from leveling white mage or something.

Brd can use Astral Aspis as well.

Regards of Koenig or General's shield ability. The bst killer ability really doesn't happen all that often. I only had the effect happen once while xping down in Kuftal tunnel killing tigers. I really don't think any pld would get koenig cuz the effect. PLDs get koenig shield for the def and vit.

Hmm, maybe a little too late, but I wanted to say it, Koenig is probably one of the best armors a tank can wear for HNM's (least from what I've gathered from all high lvl PLD's). And yes, since Zap beat me to it, we can't wear the best shield in the game (Genbu), and when Sudo said the part where "well of course it's from Genbu" hehe, all the abjurations that can uncurse all of these armors are from the HNM's, I think Genbu drops one as well, i'm not sure. Also the part Sudo when you said that you feel that we're getting favored for the armor? Nah I dis-agree with that since as you can see a War can also wear the Koenig. If we look at the new WS weapons, Excalibur can be worn by a RDM, again we're not favored. .

P.S. not flaming, sudo is cool and has valid points, i just wanted to say something about when he said that he feels that PLD's are getting favored with armor, and I feel that we're not.
