  • How many of you use cover??

I was wondering how many of you use the cover ability, Its a good ability and all but its so hard to get it to work smoothly. You cant really make a macro for it unless U make one for every player. Unless u jus wanna change it to the mage every time your in a party. Also tieves tend to get really mad when your running all over the place trying to get in between someone and a mob, Then you have to explain. Ive used it a few times but ever since ive got flash i dont really need it cuz i can hold the aggro pretty well, Ne of u ever use it after u got flash???? i could see maybe as a last resort if you have no aggro toold but do ne of u use it on a regular basis. Jus wondering.

You cant really make a macro for it...
      Sure you can:

Its a nice ability to have for when things get out of control and you have some time to wait for your next ability/spell.
You usually know who the aggro drawers in your party are. Just talk to them and let them know (like in the macro) that you'll cover them in advance so that they stand behind you. Then again, with Yokodama out of the way, I'm not sure THFs are so adamant about the PLD not moving anymore.
Flash is a godsend and I love it but you'll use cover soon enough. Just wait until the post 50 weapon skills and ancient magic.

i love cover, i dont get to use it often since it really never comes to that, but whenever my Whm decides to drop a Ds+Curaga III (she likes keeping me on my toes and has more faith in me then i do o.O) and put cover up asap, funny thing is i dont have cover bound, its the only job skill that i dont o.O, i guess i want to have whole control over it.

<st> select any target that is selectable
              <stnpc> select any non-player target
              <stpc> select any player target

how exactly woulf the <stpc> work on cover? Does it cycle through all the targets like a tab, If it did that would be slower than going to ablilities and selecting it and hitting like f2 or f3 can neone explain how this would be better choice

After hitting a macro with any of the 3 <st> variables, you'll get a blue arrow on screen. Pressing tab will cycle it through the applicable targets: everything on screen with <st>, every player on screen with <stpc>, and every NPC on screen with <stnpc>.

I wish there was a party-specific <st> variable, because using Tab with <stpc> is awful in crowded places. But there's not, so I use <st> in conjunction with the party selection F-keys. If you use them with the F-keys, <st> and <stpc> are equivalent. Hit the macro, blue arrow appears, press the right F-key, press Enter, macro executes.

That takes way too long in conjunction with cover. Especially later on.

Just use this /ja "Cover" Joebloe

Joebloe being your blm/drk/drg/rng or whoever else will draw serious agro.

Yes you'll haev to change it everytime you party, but it saves lives.
                    Screw this game.

Any half way decent party will at least have 2 people who can draw major aggro. I guess its a matter of taste and practice.
Up to 50 <lastst> has worked perfectly for me.
