  • Best way to raise 'Enhance' Magic Skill?

Would spamming 'Protect' be efficient enough to raise your 'Enhance' skills constantly and in a considerably gradual rate? Or will you have to move on to Shell 2 or Protect 2, etc. at a certain level?

At the moment, I think my Enhance is somewhere around 40 or 50, and I'm level 51.

    Thanks.

      Simplest way would be to:
      1. sub BLM (I don't know whm skills seem to go up faster if your sub or main base take opposite sides of the magic spectrum)

      2. Make a macro with Shell and Protect (All first level)

      3. Go to Lower Jeuno and start casting away.

When I did this outside the mog house I was told it was rude?!?!

I'm so tired of people telling others what they don't like....if something bothers you, you don't need to stay. Spamming protect may not be fun to listen to, but blame the play mechanics, not the person trying to work with them.

Sub a mage class. Start spamming protect on you till you are out of mp. Go back to mog house. Rince and repeat. Should go up pretty well.

Enhancing skill is meaningless for a Paladin. I'm not even sure why they get it, to be honest. Neither the Shell nor Protect series of spells is affected in any way by Enhancing skill, and those are the only Enhancing spells Paladins get.

its good for when you're a level 30 paladin and your whm doesn't have Protectra II, so you have to make due with your own Pro2.

Also I've gotten nothing but bows and /tells from people saying "Thanks for the protect" and "Arigatou! m(_ _)m." If they think its rude, just keep casting protect on them or move on to another person.

In any case, what're they gonna do about it? Call a GM because you gave them protect? Even if they blacklist you they still can't do anything about it.

and I think higher level enhancing improves the length of time its effects stay on you. Though it doesn't make all that much difference, leveling it up to max is another novelty and thing you can do while you're bored and waiting for a party.

I'm pretty sure that the length of time it stays on you is independent of your enhancing skill : 30 minutes. The length of time it stays on OTHER people you cast it on, however, varies apparently.

The amount of time Shell and Protect last on any character is directly related to the target's level. It has nothing to do with stats or Enhancing skill.

Higher level Protect(ra)/Shell(ra) spells last for less time than the lower level ones, as a general rule. The higher level a character is, the longer any given Protect/Shell spell will last on them. If you want proof, find a level 1 character and cast Protect III or IV - the effect will disappear almost instantaneously. Cast the same spell on a level 65+ though and it will last a very long time.

That would explain a lot of things...

While I was leveling up my enhancing skill and casting it on a bunch of the level 1s around Jeuno who were just sitting at the hub selling stuff in their bazaars I would find that their protect/shell would last a very very very short amount of time.
