  • Unlocking Paladin Job

Could someone please let me know how I unlock the Paladin as a job?

I heard that you can switch to a Paladin at level 30 when leveling a warrior... does it just magically become available then at the moogle house or is there a quest/mission involved?

    Thanks!!

    Quest giver: Balasiel in San'doria

(1.)Give him a root which can be obtained from a undead enemies.
(2.)In the Ordellas cave which is a cave in La Thine. Go to location (G-7) and there will be a small pool of water touch the ???, then quickly touch another ??? which is located about 20 steps from the pool. You will receive a item if done correctly.
(3.)Talk to Balasiel, then talk to the guards on 2nd floor of the guard post east and west Cahaurme(J-9) & Baurise(H-9). Then go to Davoi E10, examine the Disussed Well and get an item. Get back to Balasiel and you an get a Lvl28 Kite Shield, and you can change to Paladin.

In English, the quest goes something like this:

Part 1: Obtain a Revival Tree Root from any undead enemy (Dog, Ghost, and Skeleton-type enemies can all drop this).

Part 2: Obtain the key item "Stalactite Dew" from the Ordelle's Caves as noted above.

Part 3: Travel to the Disused Well in the southwest corner of Davoi to obtain the "Knight's Soul" key item. Note that you MUST have a high level white mage or red mage who can cast Sneak and Invisible to travel to the well. Otherwise, find a level 50 friend who can fight through the (many, many, many) aggro enemies on the way there. You must be level 30+ when you touch the well or you cannot obtain the key item. There is a jelly-type monster near the well. Sometimes it is a NM. If it is, leave and come back some other day - you won't live long enough to touch anything before he kills you.

I just completed this quest a couple days ago.

The Ordelle Caves are in the first ravine SE of W. Ronf. Inside take a right, go down, then another right. Touch the water first then the sand second and you'll receive the key item. At level 30 the creatures in the way are too low to be aggressive.

You can infact get the Knights Soul (key item from Disused Well in Davoi) at level 29. I had lost my level by the time I was able to make it to the disused well and was still able to finish the quest.

In Davoi (south of Jugner Forest), the path to get to the disused well is to enter the water at J10 then exit the water at D8 . Then go south to E10 to find the well. It was the jelly-type creature there the day I did the quest so I have no idea how hard the other creature Icemage mentions is. The jelly-type creature did not detect me with sneak/deodorize up. I had my WHM friend, Nylia, wait at D8 for me while I quickly ran up, snagged the item, and ran back to the water.

In the water you'll find aggressive pugils that see invis, but they do not detect you if you have sneak/deodorize. You can of course fight them as they con easy to even at level 29. Nylia and I decided to fight the pugils on the way in for some experience. The orcs are another matter. Once you get past the zone entrance, the orcs are bad news if you mess with them.

The NM at the well is Blubbery Bulge, a level 45-47 Jelly. He'll hit you for well over 100 damage per hit if he spots you at level 30. You might be able to sleaze past him with Sneak and Deodorize, as this type of enemy normally doesn't use sight to detect, but I've seen a few cases where NMs have abnormal detection abilities, too. Your mileage may vary.
