I'm not starting anything I'm just gonna post some facts
I am a NIN/THF and I have no problem getting invites from English/Japanese parties. Of course it is not as easy say if you were one of the thousands of PLD, DRK, WAR, WHM etc... Basically your job is to pull, enfeeble, and take the THF's hate. NIN/THF is also a lot less expensive than NIN/WAR since you wont be using stacks of Shihei for every party. Although, it is still an expensive job because you do have to buy the elemental and enfeebling Ninjutsu.
Remember this and always remember NIN/THF works regardless of what people say on these boards.

/sigh we've gotta love lazyness eh? here are 2 links less than 10 threads down that have all the love/hate relationship u could between ninjas and everything. HOWEVER don't be, as someone else put it, a welfare ninja level your warrior sub so u can get invited to partys, and use powders approiately

Hey thats an interesting strategy Cloak, so as Nin/Thf you party with another Thief and sneak attack it off the Thief to take some hits? Or do you do something else?
As far as my own personal opinion goes on this topic, I'd have a Warrior sub ready to use incase. But if you want to try Nin/Thf thats fine too. I think that sub flexibility could really be nice.
Nin/War is the most universally party friendly and useful sub, but the more I play this game the more I think that it all really boils down to how well thought out your party setup is to make whatever combo really shine. Its much more than just 3 melee's, and 3 casters, every damage dealer does damage but has a specific use and way of playing that could work better with some than some others, and the casters all have specific uses that could aid those melee's better, or backup the other casters better.
Anyways, bottom line. Nin/War is a great backbone to have and I'd at least have it at ready, but Nin/Thf or any other one can still do pretty well, especially if you take advantage of party setup and think about the strengths and weaknesses and specific abilities of your own party members, and how they work with your own.
Just remember that one of the most important things in this game is how reliable you are to others, how much they can count on you since they're exp is in your hands as well as your own exp being in they're hands.

So.. I've come down to 2 characters i will pick Theif/ninja or Ninja/Warrior. I'm starting to like ninja warrior but i hear its very expensive to play them... If i farm will I be able to cover the costs or is this class for the previously wealthy character who decides to switch to ninja later on? Also if the cost can be covered by farming will it be a big time investment for example 1 day of xp per 2 day of farming?

Yeah I been doing that alot lately too... I have a few thfs that I regularly party with, and usually I'll be the trick buddy with them, and utsusemi: ni then they trick off me, and i just cast it till the pld gets hate back.... it works good cause the thf dosn't have to worry about me taking damage, its almost like ghetto blink tanking.... but its nice to take some hits from the PLD so he can get full HP too... helps the casters... so I like it
.... also I noticed, elemental Ni spells generate a nice amount of hate too... I spam like 3 or 4 in a row and the mob is on me like glue.

I'm shocked still you guys think nin/thf even stands a chance...
...
...
OMG!
ANY nin over lvl 12 is expected to have utsesumi in a Japanese party. Only idiotic EN parties do not expect nins to have blink. Nins are tanks, not damage dealers, they just happen to be alright damage dealers while at it, but their sole purpose is to TANK. You are expected to use stacks of shihei in every party, because if you're a frugal bastard, then nin is NOT your job, and neither is rng. What good is utsusemi when you can't voke? Ok fine, maybe the thf can't fui off you ever minute or so, but that STILL DOES NOT KEEP ENOUGH HATE considering you do not have voke. For christ sakes, go on your server and type in /sea all nin 60-75 and tell me which one of them in a party doesn't have a war sub.
Nins job is to cast utsusemi, dodge all the hits he can afford, have a secondary voker ready to voke, then have the nin recast utsusemi.
If you think utsusemi: Ichi was expensive, wait till you get to Ni. You'll be casting both of them one after the other, and draining your shihei faster than ever.
If you sub thf, you're basically a gimp war. You won't be able to voke AT ALL, you can't tank cuz you can't voke (and don't tell me that trick attack crap since thfs only get that after lvl 30, and even then, you're just going to be a secondary tanker due to the fact that a thf can only fui once a minute)
P.s. I'm still shocked how most of you thought nin/thf was even remotely good...

At around lvl 50, fights should take 2 minutes maximum and that would be considered one long ass fight. In 2 minutes, the thf could pull off a maximum of 3 fuidamas on you assuming he had sneak and trick ready before the battle. This means you only have the chance to tank THREE times since you have no voke. Your utsusemi is useless, you conserve gils, but you suck horribly due to the fact that you're only a secondary tanker while nins are known for primary tanking. Throughout most of the duration of the fight, you'll have someone with voke fill in for you while you take your sweet ass time casting utsusemi and waiting for the thf's sneak and trick to recharge.
Personally, I don't care you will have your af soon, that doesn't prove ANYTHING that's remotely relative to this thread. Anyone can prove nin/thf works. I can prove to you that nin/brd works, but it won't work very well. Overall, you're a second teir tank, considered only as a backup tank, because you are too greedy to spend 4.5k on a stack of shihei and would rather only use 2 shiehei per minute due to fuidama's recharge time and the fact that you'll only be able to use Ni and Ichi once throughout that duration.
You're not proving anything, in fact, you only "think" you're proving that nin/thf works. I've gotten invited in japanese parties when I was war/whm for christ sakes. AND my whm sub was underleveled. I can honestly say, no rank 10 will invite you if you go nin/thf in an exp party.
Other "good" ninjas and I are living proof that nin/war is definetly a MUST. If you haven't followed my advice already, go do a /sea all nin 60-75 on your server, and tell me which one of them in an exp party DOESN'T have a war sub. Even if you don't trust my judgement, maybe doing a simple search will sway your thoughts.

Before LV37, is there even a significant difference? You can't seriously replace a tank with just Ichi anyway, can you?
Centurio X-I 1/1 - Celphie 1/1 - Deadly Dodo 0/2 - Doppleganger Dio 0/1 - Jaggedy-eared Jack 0/7 - Joo Duzu the Whirlwind 1/1 - Leaping Lizzy 2/16 - Mimas 0/1 - Odqan 1/9 - Orcish Wallbreacher 0/1 - Ose 1/3 - Sagittarius X-XIII 1/1 - Serpopard Ishtar 3/6 - Silk Caterpillar 1/2 - Tom Tit Tat 0/2 - Trickster Kinetix 0/2 - Valkurm Emperor 6/10 - Wyvernpoacher Drachlox 1/1

Ninja's don't really become main tank material they're known for until they get Ni. Even if you load yourself down on Evasion equipment (reccomended) you'll need to pairup with someone who can backup voke and take hits relatively well for the most reliability. Although watching how many hits a ninja with maximum evasion can dodge without utsusemi is fun, its not something you should rely on. Warrior's or Mnk's are good partner's to a pre 37 Ninja. And before 37 Two Ninja's in one pt can be an awsome tanking team if paired with the right frontliners to help them out. Thf is obvious, and it works, but others can work too.
After 37 lots of things about the Ninja change. Thats when you can start solo tanking and doing an awsome job at it to boot.
Maybe we should lay this thread down a little, since its obviously going to transform into another message board halocaust.
