There are a few reasons.

1)Ninjas are cooler than thf
2)they are using /thf to get around having to spend gil as ninja main job.
3)They want to be a THF, but their AF looks dumb compared to NIN :p
4)They don't want the responsibility of tanking.
5)They are not ninjas IRL, so they do not have the discipline or attention span that NIN/WAR demands of them :spin:

Thief AF doesn't look that bad to me, the Relic version looks much better I think though.

I think the AF would of looked a lot better if the head piece was a wrap around Bandanna like in FFT or Locke's bandanna. That'd look pretty awsome.
