I'm not one to care about getting to lvl 75 as fast as the next NIN. Sure, laugh at me for that. I level with my friends and people I know which aren't hard to come by.

wow thats all fine and well, but take a look at the other parts of a ninja besides debuffing, if you want to debuff go be a red mage for a whole lot cheaper.

Hocus, don't waste your time. You'll never convince them, all you'll get is flame. Every single time I step into a Nin/Thf discussion I get flamed to hell for offering my opinion. Just let them level thier Ninja, and let them find out the hard way :p .

I've been in PT's with Galkas that are effective mages. I'm sure you haven't. What I'm trying to say is don't tell someone how to play just because you don't play that way.

and btw i've played with plenty of galka/whatever who knew what they were doing.

suppliment equipment for what the race needs and youll be fine. obviously a galka BLM will have to spend more $ to be efficient. but it can work and is possible because i've seen it.

anyways, no one is making fun of how you play, i've never seen it..but if you think a NIN/RDM or NIN/THF can somehow hold hate... well thats.. great!

NIN/WAR barely holds hate as it is. thats why there is provoke; for when something crazy like a freeze manaburst hits for 1078+ damage you can pull it off the mage. or a ranger goes sidewinder happy hitting for 1500+, youll be able to pull it off in some cases.

Any job can pull. I was once leveling BRD in a PT full of new players and the THF was doing a terrible job at pulling, and since I had experience in pulling from other jobs I requested if I could pull instead of the THF and I did a much better job with my BRD by pulling with a Harp + Requiem than the THF with the boomerang.

Recently I've been raising Ninja, and 99% of the time I don't get hit at all while running back to our camp spot so I don't lose any blink shadows allowing me to tank more efficiently, because that's what a ninja does.

A ninja who has to rely on Utsusemi to pull is like a Black Mage who needs to rely on the other five members of his PT to yell "CAST BLIZZERD NOW SO U KAN MAGIC BUSRT!!111one <call219>" every time he has to magic burst.

Why do you think we're on welfare? just becuase we dont play nin/war?... makes no sense.... I'm NOT on welfare, because I DONT play nin/war, I dont wast money on utsusemi powders, I buy all the debuffin powders, and paralyze, slow, blind, poison ones, and all the elemental ones.

Well not that I know too much about anything but, maybe Vivid will post on this soon as he is a high lvl Nin/Thf who says he has no problems w/ grps and the such, idk idk.

Let it be known...

Vivid was in a set PT that allowed him to level his Ninja from 50 to 60 without getting random groups where high level JP players expect ninjas to tank. Instead, Donnovan, a WAR/MNK in the set was the tank. I was the RDM in the set for a while.

At level 60, -many- melees and mages sub THF while NM hunting or farming, so when PT leaders are desperate for group members they start sending tells to people who sub THF because they are obviously not in PT and just farming (or so they assume). I get PT invites without flagging with my RDM60/THF21 despite my low level THF sub and being 10 zones away from Jeuno. At level 60 the same thing happens to WHM/THF, BLM/THF, RNG/THF, BRD/THF, SMN/THF, PLD/THF, SAM/THF, DRG/THF, WAR/THF, MNK/THF and yes, even NIN/THF!

I also heard that originally the 2nd tier Ninjitsu was pretty useless because of super long casting times, which would make blink tanking almost impossible.

Every once in a while you can find an old japanese FFXI site saying stuff like "Zilart expansion classes, all terrible. Samurai, Summoner, but worse of all is Ninja. No role in a PT, worse than Beastmaster."

I believe the expectation for a Ninja to tank was a more recent development.

If you're not tanking you're still playing with the old ninja, which wasn't looked on too highly.

The thing i don't understand is, if all these people want to dual wield and backstab, and use Utsusemi sparingly, why aren't they playing THF/NIN? This is probably one of the best damage dealing combos in the entire game..

The more I play this game, the more I find the forced race/class combinations of EQ/WoW etc are far superior to the job system of FFXI.
