  • /sigh Another 9 hour day with no PT...

    I'm level 45 monk and it's been so far 2 days in a row spending 9-10 hours each day looking for a party and finding none. And I heard it only gets worse at higher levels (51-54). I've tried creating my own but there never seem to be any whm/rdm/brd that will join. And people won't party without at least one of those. /sigh I'm about ready to quit Monk...

    Man, you and me both... It seemed so fast and so beneficial when I lvled in the Garlaige Citidel, but when I finally moved on to the CN, man, the parties were few and far between. I was lucky to even get one lvl, and that's because I lvled in Gustav.

    What really pissed me off yesterday was that I waited a good 3 hours seeking a party... when I finally got tired waiting, I decided, I might as well lvl up my sub a little. So from Jueno I decided to switch to my WAR and ride a choco down to Valkurm. And then, when I got to the Stables, they wouldn't let me ride one, they said I didn't have the proper lvl. Last time I checked, I thought you were able to ride one at lvl 15! So, now I have to change back into my MNK, travel all the way to Sand'Oria, change my job to WAR, then travel on foot ALL the way to Valkurm!

    Why, can't they just let you change jobs in Selbina?

            If you quit Monk and take up another job, chances are you'll be looking just as long (unless you're a tanking job or a bard/rdm)...

            Sometimes there are also just bad times of the day to try forming a party, and there won't be enough people of suitable jobs in the level range period... I had a BLM friend who would go days looking for a party and not get one, just because there was no one online.... I'd recommend doing some quests, farming or crafting while you wait, with HP --> Jeuno in your comment... Search comments matter alot too I've found - I'd recommend including all you stat bonuses in your comment (I'll usually put STR +17, Dex +6, ACC +6 in my comment - I'm usually the first one seeking to get a group...)

                Like Mikeb said, make a good search comment. I'm so tired of seeing:

                @whatever {Expierence Points} {Party}
                {I don't speak any Japanese}
                JP/EN PT OK {Please invite me}

                Which says absoluetely nothing.

                  i suggest next time you get into a good party try forming a static with them or just make a good impression so you can get an invite from them later on. also post 50's party invites start to flow in more.

                    Hey... I know what you mean man. I once waited 6 hours and didn't get one party, but recently have been booming with parties I just hit level 45 in Crawlers' Nest a while ago.

                    Here is what you need to do.

                    1) The First and most important rule is to LEVEL YOUR SUB! Never go without a sub job that isn't fully leveled. Parties will pass up a 45Monk/20Warrior for a 45Dragoon/22Warrior any day. Although if you have your sub leveled chances are that you will get the party before the Dragoon does.

                    2) Put up a good search comment!
                    Don't put something like this for example
                    [I pwnz0rz you man. ]
                    [Please invite me because]
                    [I r0x0rz your s0x0rz]
                    Put something like this! (This is mine)
                    [Looking for Party in Crawlers' Nest]
                    [English/Japanese Party = OK!]
                    [Meat Mithkabobs = Yes!]
                    If you don't want to just level in Crawler's set something else in there such as West Altepa. Or maybe none at all so people can just ask you.
                    (Make sure to use as much of the Auto-Translate Function as you can in case a Japanese player is looking at your comment to decide whether to invite you or not)

                    3) Be nice to people and don't spam LFG messages!
                    If you are that desperate you can shout one or two LFG messages but don't over do it!
                    And in case you ever do get a party... Be nice to people! Make jokes, laugh at theirs, pass on loot if they need it. People will begin to like you and invite you to their parties because of it.

                    4) Be patient!
                    Make sure to always be patient when you are looking for a party because you might just be LFG for a while. Parties don't always have room and you need to understand that. There are times when Damage dealers are sparse and it is important of you to be on at that time so you can get a party.

                    5) Make sure you do your job in a party!

                    As a Monk our main job is to deal damage to the enemy obviously. But some parties may want you to pull, and if you are asked to pull, then you should not argue and just pull. If they do not need you to do anything but dmg deal then make sure you do an extraordinary job at it! Eat food ,(Mithkabobs or Chiefkabobs mainly) equip yourself decently, (Doesn't always have to be top of the line, but needs to be close to it.) and of course... pay attention to the fight, especially if you are involved in a renkei. You would not want to miss a renkei because you were off doing your laundry now would you?
                    People will begin to recognize how good you are at your job and invite you more often if you do this.

                    If you can manage to do all this (shouldn't be too hard) then you shouldn't have nearly as much trouble finding parties. The longest I have gone on search these past few days is 30 minutes and have been invited within 30 seconds of putting up my search flag because I followed all these rules.

                    So I hope this works for you... and good luck ^^

                      I have you all beat i'm currently running at almost 4 weeks without a lvl up pt on monk at 63. I live in Europe so cannot make static with NA players, and for some reason the JP players on Phoenix seem to have decided to have absolutely 0 interraction with the English speakers.

                      Kinda sucks to be seeking for 8 hours with no rdm or pld currently available, then 3 JP monks log on same level as you, then a flood of rdm's and pld's log and at then end of it you're still the one seeking ; ;

                      Someone told me it gets better when you get Howling fist, so I endured the horror of the 50's, now I've had howling for a while, its not a hell of a lot better.

                      Now i'm being told get to 65 its much much better then...well how many times do i have to be told this only for it to turn out to be compete bull.
                      Current job levels: mnk75, brd75, thf38, war45, whm 37, 19sam, 58nin, 16pld, 18blm, 21bst, 9rng, 3rdm,smn,drk ^^

                        It all has to do with the flow of people.
                        mages almost always get a party so they will lvl past you fast.
                        I've spent 6 hours a day for a week with no party.
                        Every mage was to low or to high.
                        Now I get parties like crazy and Im a taru monk.
                        Just go make some money and relax. If you wanna lvl everday just to lvl up, be a whm or a rdm or a brd, just remeber all you'll be doing is lvling up the people that are stuck in your same position.

                        I'm a lvl 60 WHM, I knew right from the get go, if I wanted to make a melee job I was just going to have to wait.
                        If you want a damage dealer
                        Get a MNK
                        If you wanna waste MP
                        Get a DRK

                            I see a brother (or sister...) in here. I am from EU aswell. My mnk is 62. Making pt is non existant. Why? The moment I log on around 7PM noon when I come back from work, I see a grand total of whooping 24 people 61~63. And guess what half of them with yellow comment stating "AFK" "SLEEPING" blah blah. What I have been doing lately... Duoing with my RL friend (who is 64 whm and man he didn't lvled up for what... 3month?) killing Tough mobs... (1~4 lvl difference which nets like uh... 70~90exp per pop). Around 62~64 We hunt like deep in Gustav killing craps for a meger exp but still better than anything. Every 15min I do a search all 61~63 but to no avail, just not enough people.

                            By the time it starts appearing people is around 12AM which is 1~1.5 hours till my bed time (or I will be dead at work).
                            I form up my pt, usually. But when it comes to the stage where you can't even form your own PT there are issues -_-;
