  • Dragoon's Update

Looks like Dragoons haven't been left out of the update after all:

The Super Jump ability of the dragoon’s wyvern will now be called Super Climb
    Yup. That'll help.

Well its nice because there was always that glitch where it would say "Wyvern readies Super Jump .".

its nice how the fixed the fact that the period came late by makeing the word one letter bigger! Plus, if the change in jump timers can be changed, it could be a real help. Imagine Jump timer down to 30 seconds!

"Jump ." could have been changed by deleting the space in the string.

The more likely reason for changing it is that since the Wyvern is flying it can't actually jump, it climbs.

I'm "psyched up" about potentially lowering our Ancient Circle, recast!!!!!!

I'll be the envy of my HNM!

Well, it re-confirms my suspicions that drg is already too high in damage output to add any more damage abilities. I guess even a stun effect jump is too much to wish for. (Probably put drk out of a job lol.)

            Missing the obvious

They didn't necessarily have to change the name. I want them to change the animation. If I don't do damage, then please don't make it look like I did.

As for the bonuses, I think DRG sort of got the short end of the stick. If I have to be level 75 to exchange merit points for these in the first place, perhaps it's OK to give us better options. I'm not saying the options aren't good, but compared to other jobs, we're averge at best and lacking in comparison to bonuses to jobs like DRK or RNG. I want the following options:

            Jump/High Jump/Super Climb recast timer
            Ancient Circle recast timer
            Spirit Link recast timer
            Accuracy Up bonus
            Wyvern HP bonus
            Wyvern breath bonus
            Wyvern regen ability

Naturally, that's a lot of options, so the points would have to be limited to avoid ex ploitation (edit: why did it *** that last word?). But imagine how we would be able to personalize our character! Playing in areas with nasty AoE's and wyvern life is a problem? Focus your merit points on Spirit Link, HP, and regen for your little buddy. Want to maximize your damage since people don't care about your wyvern? Focus your points on Jump/High Jump recast timers and Accuracy. You enjoy farming as /WHM? Focus your points on Super Jump recast timer, HP and Breath. I like what S-E is trying to do to make the end-game more interesting, but I think they really missed out on the potential of DRG.

Anyone got an idea on how much seconds you lower the recast timers on the jumps with every merit point?

I heard it's 10 seconds on SAM's meditate...so would that mean high jump can be lowerd to 2:10. But what about jump? don't think it's 10 seconds cause that would make jump a 40 second ability if maxed out. If it's 5 seconds then it would become a 1:05 second ability. With the options we got i think that our best bet is to lower jump recast time as much as posible since it could raise a lot the amount of tp we get per battle. Then again at 75 i'm not so sure if any of the other jumps would be better, lower Super Jump timer so SAMs and DRKs can SATA off us more times during HNM fights and not have to worry about stealing hate or something like that. Guess it all depends on how many seconds are taken off the recast timers with each merit point.

                What we need to know.

To review, the questions to be answered are. . .

By how much is each timer reduced per merit point? If the reduction is different from one ability to the other, what is each amount?

What is the maximum amount of merit points that may be attributed to an ability?

Is there a maximum amount of points to be spent between all the options?

Each merit rougly takes off 3% of the timer.

                    1 minute abilities = 2 seconds
3 minute = 6 seconds (The 10 seconds off of meditate is a typo)
                    5 minutes = 10 seconds
                    10 minute = 20 seconds

And I think DRG got good merit abilities, as Jumps are good damage in EXP. Lots of jobs got shafted with the new abilities, like DRK, RNG, and NIN.

It just follows you up when you use Super Jump. Kinda pointless really.

Well, before your wyvern usually died when you dodged things like Meltdown. It's a bit inconsistent though, why doesn't he Jump and High Jump with me? :x

The changes won't make a bit of difference on HNMs, your spot would be better off empty. Just giving the mob TP, unless you mean like Bune, Roc, Serket, etc. The only thing they've managed to do is flood the 70+ exp zones with level 75 parties.
                        My stuff~
