Unlock Dragoon Quest?

Hello, once I reach level 30, I had planned on doing the dragoon quest. But today when I got on my friend told me that I probally couldnt even do the quest till I was level 40 because I had to kill a really hard dragon?


Is this true? I read something and it said that I had to kill "a dragon", but didnt say which one or anyone in particular. Is there an easy dragon that can be killed with a group of 30's or a raid of 30's or what?

What would I need (manpower wise) to kill the dragon?

If it is one dragon in particular, who is it and what level do i need to be? Or is it any dragon?

I think it would be nearly impossible for a group of level 30's to do.

I'd say get a good group of 40+ to do it, or solo it when you're level 60 or so.

Guess I will just level up Samurai or Dark Knight and do Dragoon once Im able to.

The dragon you fight looks like Bune. I got a 53sam and a 46drg to help me and Tarutim (elementxcore) out with it today.. didn't take long and no one got hurt ^^

But pt of 30s? Wouldn't survive I bet.

Tried to do it today with some 30s just to prove everyone wrong, but it wouldn't even let my party join in the battle. Anyone else run into this? My party was never allowed to follow and always got "the door is sealed firmly shut." message. What gives?

edit: oh, we contacted a GM but they just stated they can't disclose any quest information. Which doesn't really tell me anything.

A PT of 30s could most likely kill the dragon... but anyways... to go through the door, you need to have someone currently doing the quest. They click first, everyone else then clicks.

I am the sole person among my group of 6 who is dying to become a Dragoon. The rest are all pal/drk/sam hosers. Anyway, I did all the parts up to this point and when I click the door I hit "force it open." I got the cutscene(a few times during my attempts) and I get transported to the fight area. However, this is where my party is not allowed to join. It gives me the usual message about your party having clearance to enter the battle but when any of them try to click on the door they never get the option to jump in. Instead they get that firmly shut message.

On the other hand a friendly taru dragoon was in the area and started first cheering us on then chatting with us as we tried to work this out. He got the message and joined in fine with me, but a level 1 drg and level 30 war weren't going to win. =P

I'm not sure about the cutscene rules. I have thus far witnessed the same cutscene twice. Once when I first suicided to get some combat stats on the dragon and the second was when I initated the battle prior to being partied. All subsequent attempts with my full party at the ready resulted in no cutscene, me being ported, and the rest left behind.

My friends suspect that maybe they have to have some part of the dragoon quest initiated. They are going to try to do the first few easy parts in sandoria and we'll give it another shot soon.

BTW, thanks for saying that a 30s group can probably do it. So many people on this forum and others have said 40+. However, I learned during my suicide attempt that the dragon doesn't hit very hard. I'm very hopeful.

I'll give it another shot tonight with friends that have/have not done parts o the dragoon quest and see if maybe for some random reason it works now. I'm very excited as I knew from first hearing of the Dragoon class that it would be my preferred one far above all others. I'll report back as soon as I get to try again for the benefit of all fellow dragoon lovers.

I would love to hear how this goes. I just can not believe that the quest is that difficult that a lvl 30 group has no chance of winning.

I inching closer and closer to 30 now and want to do this quest asap.

I've had one person tell me they did the dragoon quest with a lvl 30 PT. It had 3 wars/2whm/1blm. One of the whms was 31 instead of 30. They had to use potions to stay alive but they did it.
