I just hit a wall...

At level 55 now, I've been taking my job very seriously in the way I perform and have taken pride in my equips. But just recently, I decided to take a long break from leveling DRK and start saving up alot of dough for a Peacock Charm, Haubergeon+1, And the rest of my lvl 58+ equip (Vassago's Scythe, Assault Earring, Ammemit+1).

But in here lies the problem...

I figured if I was going to take on such an undertaking, that I should start leveling a craft (was thinking smithing). I bought my mining equip yet again after I had sold it earlier, and decided that I should just mine for my ores to supply my smithing. This is when I felt like all was lost...

I had bought all of these items for mining, leaving me with little gil left for anything else. I tried going to the various mines, but they were either too packed, or there was simply NO mining points at all. One time I actually looked for 2 hours to find a spot (when I did, I only struck it once, got an iron ore, and it dissapeared.) After trying that for a couple days, I began to feel very frustrated.

It's almost like every way to make gil now has been dissected and exposed so much that it isn't even worth doing anymore. This weekend I plan on planting some seeds for gardening, but I'm not even guaranteed to get what I want from that either. On top of that I have to wait almost a month for them to grow and the prices for ore have dropped considerably...

BCNM's didn't work for me either. Besides the fact that DRK isn't needed in any of them, I've tried starting my own parties for it only to have everyone leave or not show up when it was time to do it.

So here I am, with no THF sub for farming (I would level it, but then I would have to level NIN and get Leaping Boots and Emp. Hairpin, both of which would cost money I don't have), and just hanging on to whatever gil I have left. I have been thinking of selling all of my gear to level a craft, but I don't want to sell it if I'm not sure If I can get my craft to a reasonable level where I can make any profit. I've even thought about dropping DRK all together for a long time to level up BRD to 75 or something.

I'm sorry if this has come out more as a rant, which in a sence, is exactly what it is. But I guess what I'm really asking for is advice. I have always considered DRK my main job, and over time, it has grown on me very much and has become my favorite.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated...

haha i see your problem. you aimed so high you lost all sense of reality.. its not a bad thing, just an impossible 1. first off you dont need a peacock charm. thats just over kill. haubergeon+1, once again is overkill.i might as well tell you the juice of it all..

thats it man that gear in my mind is stand out type gear. but as you get higher in lvls, an get more af you can sub those in, as most drks do.

Funny enough, little ninja just described my exact gear, down to the AF boots lol, of what I used when I was ~55. It sounds like this is your first main, and you shouldn't put so much pressure on yourself to get the l33t of the l33t. Farming will probably be your best bet as money return isn't the best but at least its fairly stable and you'll have something to show for it, and it'll eventually add up. Just concentrate on being a well rounded drk and you'll probably end up happier. I didn't get haubergeon (regular ) till I was 67, but having all the other prerequisite gear, nobody ever called me gimp.

I would also recommend levelling your THF. If you can stand it, do some NM as well. I made a nice little income off of Leaping Lizzy. Took a lot of patience, but I managed to get a few boots which made me set for gil. It is getting increasingly difficult to farm now with all the chinese gil sellers out there. Stroper is practically impossible on Phoenix. That thing is camped by japanese company LS which gets it everytime.

lvl thf with a war sub...ninja isnt that great of a sub till you get dualwield 2..untill then your very slow..and if you wanna lvl it just to farm...just get it to 15...

I agree that haubergeon+1 and charm is setting really really really really high standards. Most people also like the look of Hauberk better too XD, comparison wise the +2 attack +2 accuracy wont show a great difference in the overall efficiency.

Basically little ninja has it right for the lvl, you can switch things if you need etc (example: I was using 2 physical earrings until assault earring then finally stopped using other physical till coral earring). If you still can't afford sniper rings you can still get by with +3 dex rings.

You do not have to get the Lightning Bow, personally I suggest saving up and just going for the Bomb Core.

As for Chymes I think I'm 2/30. But of course on midgard archers have reached 600-700k each now

Once you get 60 you'll be using AF helm a lot, I prefer it over Celata. I used AF helm all the way till Optical hat.

at lvl 55 the lightining bow was a cheap buy, with the +2dex. it was a nice thing to equip. an just gave a little bit to the dex number. also bomb core isnt til lvl 63. so 8 lvls that +2dex in my opinion is worth it..


yes at 60 you will most likely be going for the af helmet look. an celata is a good second helmet. alot of drks will equip this when they get into the yellow thus getting the latent effects to trigger. but thats something i once read, an never tried it myself..

Lol, yeah I guess you could say I aim a little high in the equipment department. I just figured if someone could do it at level 33, then it wouldn't be as hard at level 55....which is entirely false as I have found out >_<

Other than that, I have all the equip little ninja had posted (except for the level 58 equip of course). I did have a Valkyrie Mask but I had sold it earlier to pay for my level 55 equip.

I will however, stop at level 60 to level my subjobs and whatnot. Maybe during this time I'll see what kind of money I can round up. Because If I'm going to be as dedicated to my job as much as possible, I just would like to have the best equips...

hmm every one says to get bomb core but its quite expensive for what you get...also im in a static and i have to be the puller so equiping lightning bow to pull will delete my tp wich would suck...that or i would throw the core on accedent and that would suck more...so imma just stick with lightning bow...but ya...you should have a lvl 30 war...so stop at 60 then lvl thf to 37 and farm for hubergeon then basicly you are set with equipment because at 69 you can just sell haubergeon for hauberk then farm the diffrence and like 130k for thick set...to bad 66+ our gswords cost 600k+...scythes cheap though...

a few things about "having the best equip:"
1) they make neglible difference in XP pt compared to just average stuff generally.
2) still does not make you very valuable for hnms
3) makes you look sexy^^
it boils down to cost-to-efficiency, and it's up to you to decide if it's worth it. personally, i don't think it is. when it comes down to the equipment, +50 acc can be easily obtained later, but you sacrifice dmg and with a brd you'd be hitting just as much anyway.

oh, and about a bomb core. while it's nice, you're probably pulling for your PT unless you have static with rng or something. i've known a few people who have thrown it also..... so be careful if you're going to use one.

At the lvl you use bomb core, you really can use poison for almost everything you pull. Except when it gets to Weapons in ro'maeve. Using magic there is just evil. But I still suggest the bomb core, I just get 2ndary melee to pull in ro'maeve. Also sky exping too, Exp at Aura pots (farm for water hehe), or Ullikumi camps on golems, that cant use magic ; ;.

Ya I do find that common trend, most gil sellers that I find (sell online) seem to be chinese or korean or taiwanese.

Heh by the time you are lvl 70 you are going to absolutly hate using Zweihander. It's just painful to see low damage like that ; ;. Most 70+ gswords are over 1mil. Mythril Heart / Lockheart is a decent choice as well. And of course the free sword: Arondight is good if you cant afford any other thing at the time.
