How hard is the quest to get drk?

I know you have to kill 100 of certain type of mob..how hard are they? will I need a group at lvl 30 or is it soloable?

Its true that you gotta kill 100 enemies, but there isn't a specif type u have to go after.

When i got drk, i went to Bastok, finished the quest, recived the big sword, and switched to my war, it was lv 14, i just killed the bees and worms right outside of Bastok.

U can kill anytpe, easy or not, as long as u get 100 kills using that sword.

The sword is also veryy weak, but it wont matter against easy monsters, especially if ur war is lvd a bit.

Wait..you get to be drk just for starting quest? What do you get for completeing it then?

Anyways thx for the response..there isnt a specific type of mob you have to kill? So I could just go around killing lvl 1 mobs all day till I kill 100 of them to complete the quest?

DRK is the second easiest ADV to get IMO. BST being the first followed by RNG after DRK.

I had a THF/MNK and used a LVL 1 War to get my DRK, little tip, if you start as LVL 1 War do not kill bees, cause you get them low on HP and they do final sting, well it doesnt count as a kill : /

You dont get DRK till you complet the quest, they give you the swrod to do the quest.

yes u can kill 100 of any type..but i reccomend keeping in track of what number you are on...because that sword is so slow :sweat:


how do you power up the sword u get..alotta people in beta used the powered up DRK quest sword till like level 15-20...

Yeah, follow the advice listed above, but let me add a bit.

If you don't already have a warrior leveled up a bit, use war1/blm1. nuke the thing with stone, then follow up with the killing blow from the chaosbringer. That saved a TON of time for me once i tried it, though i was very skeptical at first.

The only rule regarding the 100 is that the chaosbringer deals the final blow, and it has to be a normal hit. If it dies from dia/bio/poison/etc. it doesn't count. If you use a weapon skill and kill it, it doesn't count. If it suicides, it doesn't count. I recommend killing a few extras, since it's a long way from Beadeaux back to any town to switch jobs to kill a few extras.

To power-up the sword, go talk to Gumbah again and read the letter he gives you (a key item). Then kill 100 more enemies (same rules) with the sword and go to Gusgen and trade the sword to the water. (If the NM ghost is above the water, wait for it to despawn). I was able to solo this quest as 30mnk/13whm. Mages will probably need help, the bandersnatches are still decent challenges and tend to gang up on you.

OMFG!! Dude I gave up on this quest, I thought I had made some big mistake. I went to Gusgen like 20 times and never got crap, now I see I had never killed them properly. I did the lazy thing and made a huge link of like 50 quads in palborough and kept using shockwave-darkness to kill them all, thinking I was being smart, guess not

u gotta go thru gusgen mines for what?? i thought it was palsborough....the gusgen mines are a nightmare..so many undead stuff there and it spawns real fast :\....


how many levels would u say i should use that sword for..or should i switch at level 14 to plantreaper...or wait till 18 and then switch to the level 18 weapon
