Is there a reason for leveling up enhancing magic on a BLM? I know RDM need it for Phalanx and what not, but should I bother as a BLM to raise it? Its my only magic skill that isn't capped
It's kinda good... later on you can use stoneskin with /whm, and even phalanx with /rdm.
does BLM have this skill tho?

Yes, BLM does have Enhancing Magic Skill, but only for 3 spells. Blaze Spikes, Ice Spikes and <thunder> Spikes. (Can't remember the actual name.)
Enhancing Magic will effect how much damage a mob takes when the Spikes is trip'd. So there's that, and thenere's the use of Stoneskin and Phalanx at higher levels.

Warp allways gives me .4/.5 when it does skillup, ive actually spent a lot of my time warping myself near mog house and going in for refil and eventually the skillups got lower, great nonetheless. Capped enhance does wonders with blink and stoneskin, i think the higher the enchancing magic, the more chance blink has to activate.. you know how blink doesnt really work like real shadows.. sometimes you still get hit, higher enhance apparently makes it better in such a way, so yea, i'd say it's important.

O yea and dont forget en- spells, spikes, phalanx, stoneskin, aquaveil and protect/shell for when you solo! you can actually be pretty strong with those buffs in solo situation, this is why i use /RDM mostly, these buffs help me alot when i get that one second of hate sometimes after an MB.

Blink isn't affected in any way by any stat. I don't get any better results from it at level 75 WHM with 240 Enhancing Magic than I did at level 19 WHM.
Really? I say that because i noticed i took less hits with blink on on exp pt after i capped enhance... maybe luck or wishful thinking? lol thanks for the clarification

wow it really affects that? that's interesting... and it makes sense since those spells also give skillups..
another thing ive thought about, how is conserve MP activated? could it be depending on your magical skill? perhaps thats why those spells have skillups too?

Most likely you'll want it for for escape, since life or death can hang on interrption.
But yea as mentioned, stoneskin and blink will be useful, especially as you get to higher levels, bc, and missions, where your nuke of death enmity is not a good thing vs your puny hp.
I think most blms by the time they hit 75 have 200+ enchanting skills without additional effort, so it's not the biggest deal in the world to train it, but, if it's lagging behind, a little training can't hurt.
Enhancing magic is very usefull to have jacked up on a high lvl blm. I hardly ever use the spikes for anything but farming. The ultimate enhancing spell for blm imo is stoneskin. You get that spell with /whm or /rdm. It saves my character from dieng so much its not even funny. Maybe it is funny. Also it helps phalanx and blink in there protency but stoneskin is the best, last line of defense for a blm in surviving. Keep that spell active at ALL times in battle. It also makes high lvl blm soloing easier as stoneskin tends to bring the damage of a hit from some low number to zero and ussually I still make the cast which is ussually the spell stun, or sleep, as soloing goes. In parties it is just as usefull in surviving and I reiterate, stoneskin has saved my tail loads of times.
Edit: Blink is also a life saver, keep it up at all times.
Yes enhancing magic, like all types of magic, is very important for blm.
Again, Blink is NOT affected by anything. Not enhancing magic, not INT, not MND, nothing.
Stoneskin and Phalanx are really the only real reasons to level enhancing magic on BLM. The spell interruption effect on Warp/Warp II/Escape is largely meaningless in XP parties as anything VT+ that hits you for any damage will interrupt you regardless of your skill level.
Odd... I thought my number of shadows went up after 150 enhancing from 2 to 3 with /whm... but it was always 3 on whm main. So maybe they "nerfed" blink at some point?
