Are my nuke macros actually working?

Here's how I usually have a macro setup for a nuke

/equip main "Solid Wand"
/ma "Fire" <bt>
/wait 6
/equip main "Elm Pole"

See when I start a fight, I start with an elm pole and I melee, but since Solid wand gives me +5 INT, I put it in a macro so whenever I cast a spell, the extra INT is counted when I cast a spell. Then when the spell is done it automatically puts my pole back on.

So am I correct in this? Are these actually working? WILL the spell count the extra int if I equipped it so recently before casting the spell?

Simple Solution:

Don't melee.

/party Using Fire
/ma "Fire"



Thats what I do.. Simple as that.

Judging from your still using a solid wand... There really isn't any reason for you to do switch.

BLM should not be meleeing.



Eventually though, you will need to switch between elemental staffs though.


There is no need to switch off the staff, just switch on before you cast.

1) AOE attacks will hit you, causing extra mana needed to heal you, causing less efficiency.
2) If you're standing away from the mob, and if it changes aggro to you and starts to run towards you. That's a) a few seconds extra time for the tank to do something before it swings at you, and b) sometimes people just aren't paying attention - if it turns and runs away, the tank will notice that a lot easier than if it just turns and starts to swing at you.

I'm part of the party too, any AOE usually hits me no matter where I am anyway, and I have drain. Mobs never aggro me usually, I'm a good BLM :D

Look, I'm a party member too, I have every right and reason to want to skill up my weapon...which I may add is doing damage.

So if no one else has an answer to my question, I'm gonna go back to meleeing.

Those are ALL valid reasons, AoE CAN be avoided depending where you stand, what about Antica? Do you melee that? That thing Area Silences, if you distance yourself right you can nuke and do your duties without suffering the penalties. Bomb Toss, Cursed Sphere can hurt you alot. That means more MP wasted which also means that you lose precious MP that can be used to achieve that chain. Sure you can Drain, but those moves can be used multiple times and i am sure if its within that 1 min timer, you will be wasting mana. Also more TP is an issue, do you think that the bombs just hit you? They hit every other melee too, more bomb tosses ALSO mean more mp loss, that means also less efficientcy. There will always be a way to avoid AoE for the most part

If you draw aggro yes the tank will have less of a chance of directing it away, and that means that you will get hit no matter what, so therefore more lost mp.

You contribute more by not meleeing and just nuking and enfeebling and other blm duties. You do have every right to swing it, but since that BLM melee party i had that turned out crap and more wasted mp for me i prolly wont let a blm melee unless its crawlers or beetles or things like that. Lvl up on a skill up party for your weapon.

OMG dude. BLM are not Meleeers. A couple reasons are, AoE attacks of coures, but the most deadly is AoE Sleep spells, that put u to sleep. Anyways why bother Melee, it just makes the tank have less time to voke it off you, and also BLM are Magic DDers, they cast not attack.

Also u say ur a good BLM... U dont even know how to play as one!

Anyways, why waste mp on Drain when u can stay far back and cast more effective spels AGAINST the enemie not just to you.
