    Think he meant a mob of quadavs. Like 20-30 amethysts, ambers, and youngs.

      erm...what mob did you kill for 600-1k gil? The most I've ever seen is like a shade under 200 from a Giant in delkfurt...and those you can't really train effectively (take too much damage to be able to drain it back efficiently without /whm).
      yeah i'm sorry, i should've clarified. thats 600-1k gil for a mob of quadavs in palborough mines, anywhere from 15 to 25 of them. or, -ga farming on the 1st floor with the bunch of weak quadavs, that'll net you a tad less gil but you get quadav backplates to sell. of course it isn't the most efficient way but it is pretty fun and decent money when you're lower level. now that everything is so damn expensive, -ga farming is just way too slow.

        see that's the plight:

        Lower levels, when the amount of gil you'd get from -ga farming means something, you can't really farm well because you take it in the face.

        Upper levels, when you can -ga farm like crazy, the amount of profit you get is basically negligble.

        Whoever thinks a blm farms well should be brutally beaten ; ;

        or just forced to farm as one >_<

          I dunno maybe it's just me but -ga farming just doesn't seem to be that bad, i -ga farm in highlands atm and i make at least 10-15k a hour, everything there drops good stackables and i get at least a stack of sheep leather a hour which sells for 10k by itself (Minus 2.5k for crystals and ingredients to make) and this is only at 34 with my blm, one of my LSmates is a 58mnk/thf and he usually makes around 10-20k a hour farming (And he farms aloooot, 20atk kotes, brown belt etc, sniper rings etc.) so i don't think we are hindered that much.... and like i said before -ga farming is still much more fun than melee farming ><

            including all the drops from -ga farming quadavs, you can make 8k an hour or so, depending on how lucky you are with the drops. this is perfectly acceptable, since you should be able to do this easily as a high 30s blm. or at least i did anyway. if you're a taru though, -ga farming probably won't be your cup of tea.

              8k doesn't cut it if you want good gear even by level 40 (2 morion earrings? Right.)

                believe it or not, thats how i made money to get 2 morion earrings, as well as all my other equipment and spells up to about 40 or so...its been a while. it took forever, but getting a few NMs occasionally helped quite a bit. i found 3 bravehearts, selling for 15k each.

                got both earrings for about 100k or so when i originally bought it...so thats 200k/8k per hour = 25 hours spent farming palborough mines for those earrings. that sounds a bit longer than i actually spent doing so but it might be close. call me crazy but i like being a cut above the rest. after i hit 51, i sold both earrings to help pay for my dark staff (bcnm40 and lots of farming helped). after that, i farmed (yes, farmed) for my ice staff. then i bought zircon rings and 1 morion earring (60k each and 80k respectively) and camped mysticmaker profblix for moldavite earring.

                i have plenty of time to farm, quest, help people do shit, whatever because my static group levels only once per week. thats not much, but i'm satisfied with it since i take the rest of the time to make money to update my equipment. 8k/hour through the 30s to 40s is fine (for me at least). look at the alternatives...farm beehive chips (giddeus...varies greatly, can be decent money), silk farming (west saruta, often heavily farmed, results also varies greatly), misc. junk in tahrongi. since -ga farming the mines generates most of your cash through direct gil drops, its more consistent than all of these other methods. they're all viable, its just personal preference. i'm sure there are plenty of other ways to make money at that level besides farming for it, like fishing or mining. after giving those a try, it just didn't suit me, so i stuck to farming. why don't you offer some suggestions, perhaps how you made your money at that level Atrapos?

                  the way I made my money was luck, really. That, and I never bothered to buy morion earrings/zircon rings. +4 int for like 400k never struck me as a smart investment as long as I didn't have any staves.

                  The way I made money was almost entirely luck. First, I got invited to do some BCNM40s while I was still kinda low (35 or 36). We won all our attempts, and got an erase and a phalanx. Coupled with all the little crap that dropped, that was like 120k. Using that money I basically bought all my spells and crap. Anything I was missing, I farmed up.

                  Any time I could camp a mob for a piece of equips, I did. Basically, that means my 50k Morion Tathlum actually cost me -120k (3 total drops, plus a few darksteel ores). Also, I used my CP to buy Tactician Magician Espadon/Hooks back when they were worth something (both dropped to about 35% of their previous value because people caught on ; .

                  Since then, the majority of my money comes mostly from BCNM60 (spectacles ) and doing runs of avatars (with a good group, 50k in 2-2.5 hours isn't bad, and at least you're guarenteed the 50k). Everything else doesn't seem to be as consistent.

                  I also just recently joined an HNM ls, so here's hoping that helps me with getting gear and crap.

                  Oh, and the farming methods I've tried:
                  Spiny spipi/crawler farming (really boring and ineffective, although might be better with /thf. I picked /rgn so I would have widescan).
                  Palborough mines - I never managed more than 5-6k/hour. Most of the time, my trains got messed up because someone thought I was running away and they killed half my train. Also, in the time that it takes you to gather all them together, you're bound to lose a few. Makes it so that you have to nearly constantly run around gathering them together.
                  Mining - I mined in ifrit's for a short period (2 adaman ores worth), but it ended up being more expensive than it was worth. Each trip cost me about 20k in sneak/invis pots (I stayed for the whole day when I went), and I got an ore once every other trip. Not bad, but at the time adaman ore prices were dropping like a stone, and had hit 60k. 80k gil for 40k profit wasn't so appealing to me. I might start back up though, seeing as adaman ore is back up to 80k.
                  -ga farming in Giddeus, Oztroja, Davoi, Beaduex, and a few other places. Ineffective due to the amount of time you have to rest, made more difficult by the fact that you cannot use /thf in the harder areas or you'll get pounded real quick.
                  Camping various monsters: not reliable. I tried, I didn't make squat. My friend tried, he made 600k. Also intensely boring ; ;

                  That's about it for me. I'm currently staring at 3 500k+ items I have to buy, and I don't know how I'll get the money. Thank god Black Cloak's price is dropping like a stone (360k and falling, down from 600k (1 million+ a few weeks ago)). Still leaves me with a 450-500k elemental torque, and a 700k dark staff. I'm hesitating though, because they're all dropping like bricks...so I wanna wait until their price stabilizes a bit before I shell out the mad moneys.
