    what level are you?

Most likely you should join a skill up party headed to Boyahda if you're close to 200, or a party headed to Kuftal if you're in the 100-125ish range

Equip the weapon and find some too weak enemies.

Con them, if they have high defense or evasion, you will get skill ups hitting them.

Typically this is what I go by:
<50 anything in the game really. Go for lvl 10-13 monsters.
50-70 Dunes works well here. Crabs may go a little higher.
70-100 Worms in Koro Tunnel/Qufilm etc.
90-120 Eldimer pull a skelle at zone in whack it and zone when needed.
120+ it gets real tough there. Most of the higher stuff in Crawlers is good here.

But why would a blm ever want to mele? You farm better with spells anyways.

and yes, our spells work "better" for farming, but:
          A) Our farming ability is hindered by the fact that we have to rest to regain MP. It's utterly ineffective, imo, to train a bunch of gil-droppers, -ga them all to death, and then rest for 5-6 minutes to get back all the MP you burned killing them, and
          B) When soloing NM's and such, it'd be nice to have some leeway in terms of how much MP you need to use...like it'd be nice if you did more than 0 damage when/if you struck...

have never swong my staff or club as a blm

Run around, diaga stuff, get a big train, and waterga them. Can do that 3-6 times before you need to rest.

You still kill 10times the amount of enemies as any other job in the same amount of time.

First off, yeah, you might kill them faster, but in the time it took you to round all those mobs up, any other job (save whm or brd) would have killed those things 1 at a time. Resting makes you *EVEN SLOWER*.

Lv27 blm. Pfft. How much do you need for your next spell (Aero II at lv30)? 10-20k? That'd be nothing to farm up with a melee. They can sub thf effectively and actually get shit to drop. We can't though. We're stuck using /whm or /rdm if we don't want to die, and we're forced to farm gil droppers...which is utterly ineffective EVEN WITH /thf. Oh, and if you want to farm things that have a particular drop (tigers, cockatrices, ect.), have fun killing one in the time it takes a melee to kill 3-5. Unless of course you want to burn MP on killing it faster, and then sit for 5 minutes recharging 900 mp.

I'm currently camped in Kuftal doing solo WS on Robber Crabs (20-25exp), because everyone in my LS is too busy killing each other in Jugner to be my skillchain slut. I get something like 40 WS per hour; so at my current rate it's gonna take another 5 hours (been at it for 2.5 already) to get rid of my Trial Sapara Latent Effect (for Savage Blade). I imagine it would be close to impossible for a blm to solo his/her Trial weapon's Latent Effect, seeing as mobs you WS on must give you exp for the WS to count towards your 300 'points.'

Best place to skillup 190+ is Light or Dark Elementals in Tu'lia. These are VT to me at 73, not too hard to hit, have gimp spells, and stay alive forever. Also not hard to get a party to skillup there; I did a shout in Jeuno for skillup and within 15 minutes had 10 people on chocobos headed to Ru'Aun Gardens. Took about 4 hours if I remember right to get from 227 skill to 240 skill.

mid 30s and mid 40s, i -ga farmed the quadavs in palborough mines for my spells...i also got enough to buy dispel in rabao for a friend. of course, this took forever. a mob would net me 600-1k gil (thf sub). i merely kept myself alive by using drain. not that its not do-able, its just horribly slow compared to melee farming ability. speed up money gain by also bringing a couple stacks of picks and your mining gear ^_^.

as for farming stuff like tigers...it takes forever to melee one of those suckers, and yeah a melee job like drg or drk can kill 3-5 in the time it takes me to kill one...really really sad. however, if nobody is on, i have to resort to killing tigers and average about 10k/hour which isn't too shabby. if the spot in sauromugue isn't camped, i go there instead...i do slightly better and i can use spells and rest for mp while waiting for them to respawn. if you really make cash farming, pair up with a melee and farm in slightly more difficult areas where they can't kill forever and rely on your healing .

edit: totally forgot about the original post...sorry >_<
for skilling up weapons, i solo them up to 120 or so on crawlers and whatever else i can find in crawler's nest...past that, its kinda tough (for me at least) so i join limit quest parties or something that involves lots of killing. bust out my staff (or club), melee away. my club is about 10 points away from cap while my staff is about 30.

the only way this would possibly be effiecent is if the mobs grouped themselves together... which they don't so... just no...

even with aeroga III farming money droppers with AoE is the most stupid, ineffiecent way to farm gil.........

erm...what mob did you kill for 600-1k gil? The most I've ever seen is like a shade under 200 from a Giant in delkfurt...and those you can't really train effectively (take too much damage to be able to drain it back efficiently without /whm).

It may not be as effective but to me -ga farming is some of the most fun i have in the game, sure farming with my drk is more effecient but after 2 hours of farming with him i get so bored i have to take a break, i could aoe farm all day though and not be bored, one of the reasons why i continued on playing blm.
