staff macros

how are you guys setting up the macros to switch out your staffs?

do you switch them before song like"

/equip light staff
/ma elegy
/equip instrument

or how do you do it, and where do i need waits? etc

As long as you have the instrument/staff equipped before the song finishes, it doesn't matter where you put it. You do not need waits in your macros.

I put all the /equips before the spell line in the macro.

my elegy macro looks something like

/ma "battlefield Elegy" <t>
/equip Range "Horn +1"
/equip Main "Earth Staff"


this means the song will start casting as soon as you hit the macro and the instruments will be equipped to take effect by the time the song actually fires off.
I tried putting the equip lines first, but I think I found that the equip change lines (without a wait) interrupted the song casting line, so I had to mash the macro a few times.
I tried having /wait's in there also, but after exping a while the delay betwen macro and song gets annoying. (not to mention that same damned tune every time)
I did however find the /wait useful soemtime because if you timed it right you could hit your macro just before you stopped running, and still nto have your song interrupted.

I usually do something like this:

/equip main "Earth Staff"
/equip range "Horn +1"
/ma "Carnage Elegy" <stnpc>

This will change your equipment and bring up a sub-cursor, which you can then use to cast Elegy.

Same applies for Cure macros:

/equip main "Light Staff"
/ma "Cure III" <stpc>

This way is good because it will allow others to see your song/casting animation go off after you've changed equipment.

for my purpose, i usually do
/ma <song>
/equip <instrument>
/equip <staff>
/p <what i'm casting>
/wait
/equip <sword/dagger>
/equip <sheild>

and i can keep fighting cause spending an entire fight without throwing a few hits isn't too fun w

no fight for me on pt...doesnt have time

so i use the macro line for equipment change (body - neck - legs - head) between chr equip and skill equip
