I get bothered though when people dis other people when the purpose of a thread is to talk and have fun. So please stop calling people noobs and idiots bc if you dont like it then ignore it.

In Tank we've got Paladin, Ninja, Warrior, even Monk in a pinch.

Damage there's Warrior, Monk, Dragoon, Dark Knight, Samurai, and Summoner and Black Mage for magic damage.

Buff/Debuff there's Bard and Red Mage.

Healing, there is White Mage, and that's about it.

Consider how telling it is that every party, past lvl 20 even, is not considered functional, unless it has a White Mage in it. When one considers that there are fewer than a sixth of all players playing a White Mage in this game, that indicates that we have a significant shortage of healing magic.

So, what we need, is a class, probably advanced, that is capable of filling White Mage duties, that is not a White Mage clone. Therein lies the quandary.

I've got to go get labs done for class, so I'll leave this at here for now.

Correction, MNK doesn't fit in tank category, and healing category, RDM/WHM and SMN/WHM.

Second, Why would they add dancer? Bards were offensive, and dancers were defensive (May be the other way around been a while sense i played FFT) And From what i can tell Bards on FF11 are A bit of both, like they merged the two

Blue mages would be alright, but alot of enemy skills are way to powerful, like Forest hares get a kick move, that did 50 dmg to me at level 5, Gobo with there bombs... IMO That would be way to powerful

all these melees your saying they should add are a mix of others, imo we dont need 100 classes that can use swords a differnt way.
On EQ they added a new class, Dumbest thing its basically a warrior thats forced to use two handed wpns so that he can use throwing axes..IF 11 started doing things like that i would be pissed!
Pissed me off on FFTA, that most things were the same ..

Well..im goingback in game See ya later

        Zils Theif of Alexander!
At level 5, those hares would be decent challenge or even match to you and vice versa, the damage you do on DC/EM is a lot different than those you would do on IT/VT. Wait till they become easy prey or too weak and laugh at their damage, and that would probably be the damage a Blue Mage would do in a levelling party, on VT and IT mobs. It's not really that powerful.

Blue mage seems like the only job people can agree on; and it *is* a FF staple.

It would be difficult to implement it tho, who can suggest a reasonable way of having the blue mage class acquire their magics?

I'm not sure about that, but they could differentiate the blue mage class further from other classes by not giving an MP pool but having the abilities acquired become job abilities - so that they're timer based rather than MP based spells. That would probably be a bad idea in practice tho :/

you could have a blue mages 2 hour let them learn the ability..

goblin uses goblin rush on blue mage. blue mage hits his 2 hour. viola blue mage learns his new skill.

1 skill every 2 hours. isn't all that bad. and for the most part. keeps them from learning them all 2 fast since you can only get certain abilities. it is definitly doable.

i personally would like to see geomancer added. but only time will tell.

Even 1 skill every 2hr can be alot
                Imagine if he's power leveling....

I think there should be a limit to your skill lvl. You can only learn the skill from an even match or lower.

And maybe the 2hr can be Learn Enemy Skill Increase

I dont think it'd be wise to make it automatic learning skill.. Maybe increase the chance of learning it by alot more. That'd be fine.

Bluemages should have mp also for a few spells, pretty much have white mage cures, etc. or just not have any spells at all? dunno.

I like the idea of a Mediator. no, not a bst, a mediator, someone who can cause the mob to give up more gil, to lose a turn, put them to sleep, etc. This would in a way help give bst a challenge, and give ppl another option for mob-control.

If bluemages are coming, so should Time Mages. I believe time mages should use time (in a way to calculate a certain spell) for example: TM at lvl 1 should pretty much get
Job Ability : Twice the magic in 1 : pretty much, for every cure you get cast on one person, the magic is doubled. So if Whm cures you for 50 HP, you'll be healed 100HP in that same amt of time.

Give that a decent downtime, and not make it as long as Divine Seal. And time mages will be definitely wanted.

TM being an adv job should get Haste at same time as whm, but get Haste 2 MUCH MUCH earlier.

And then comes the idea of demis. Ppl often hide from this topic cuz it could prove to be overbalanced. However, it's easy to do it like this. Every 5 minutes, TM can cast a demi 1/4 to the mob, with a very low % of it working depending on the mob con. Pretty much, if you're fighting an easy, it'll work better , whereas if you try against an IT, you might be wasting mp cuz it'll work with probably 1 out of 15 IT mobs.

And TM 2hr should be meteor. It'd be pretty much their only blm "copy" but honestly i remember most FF's in the past had TM learn meteor first.

Regen, Quick (to make casting spells faster), and possibly an auto-haste passive ability. so if you had TM subbed, even as a melee you could be happy.

Geomancers i'm sure are coming as well, they'll just have to be careful how they make their environmental effects work. Depending on the type of day, and perhaps on the entire territory, maybe they can cast different status effect, enfeebling spells: I'd like to see them cast Petrify on a Malboro in marshes, or something like that
And to balance them, make their magic effect stronger and weaker on certain days.

Since ninjas have already become an alternative to tanking, i'd suggest they add a job - Assassin, where you pretty much have really high delay, but 100% chances of doing criticals. But the delay would have to be really really high. Or make this an ability with a downtime of like 10 minutes. Delay incr, criticals = 100%
And their 2hr would be pretty much a strike through 1 mob with instant death chance % increased by much.

And have a passive ability (that kicks in much much less than double attack) where you can do an instant death to the mob. Overbalanced? no, just make it very unlikely to happen. This job would have to be thought through though, cuz their TP gain would be slow, but their ws could be all hard to renkei with. However, each ws on its own does multi-hit (2-4). To balance that out, make it that one of their passives is half the tp for higher chance of criticals. The idea is, if they use the ws, they will draw aggro, but not be able to spam even with /sam cuz the tp return from the multi hits would just not give enough.

Ah well, i know some ppl may think these are sum dumb ideas but i don't, and it's a snowy day in April, and i'm bored, so i have an excuse. so there.
