  • Ideas for New Jobs

    What new job would you like to see. Made up one or a classic from a previous game. Give me your input.

    Personally I would like to see the Blue Mage Back. Even though they did kinda suck it was fun to go and see which kind of abilties you could get.

    Blue Mage's didn't always suck, i.e. Quina and the blue mage class in fft:a, they just took more thought to use properly, but I do agree Strago wasn't too hot and enemy skill in ff7...kinda lame imo. BTW, I too would love to see their return.

    I would also like to see Alchemists and Time Mages make an appearance. Imagine a taru decked out in FFT style time mage gear.

    There aren't really a lot more classes from previous final fantasies that would seem really viable in this game. Of course I would love to see SE prove me wrong.

    There are a couple of threads like this already, and some people have some really interesting ideas. I would put some of them here, but I'm going to bed now.

      My theory is that there will be one or two new mages and one mage knight. RoZ had two dmg dealing jobs and one hybrid between dmg and tanking. I think that on the next expansion a new mage knight will be revealed. Main attributes will be Dex and Chr. Maybe a Summoner Knight that can summon small minions to fight by your side or a Tactician Knight that can sing a few bard songs and maybe has some of his own too.

      New race:

      Male mithran: everyone thinks they will add a new gender to the mithran race. But I think Squenix won't add one. Bcus it will ruin the storyline (unless they change it), just add to looks and disappoint a few gamers that went with female mithra.

      Moogle: NO. Moogle's are there to help you with your inventory.

      Remember Zidane from FFIX? He had a tail and was a guy. Freya comes to mind... She's a Dragoon in that game. I thought that maybe the new race will come from the dark side; from Promathia. It will either have no gender or be male. Because they were created by Promathia with only one gender or no gender at all. I've seen that race in Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced.

        What about some body that summon monster from cards and when they summon the monster from the cards he card break afterwards

        and sages they could have the same ability from ff:tactic advance

        and Vikings
        err...10...warrior....hate...play...online

          If a new job with high CHR would be introduced then BST, BRD and SMN would be subable for this job and so would this job to them. A TCKnight could be very useful in PT's. 2hr could be to nullify all the moves from the enemy (no MP or abilities) and make it stunned for 2-3mins. The TCKnight could be like a judge. You blow the whistle and command the enemy to attack another player. That player has to accept or decline the offer within 10 seconds.

          A SMNKnight could burn summon cards like Ninja burn Ninja Tools but still be a bit powerful/dexterous. 2hr could be to make your summons more powerful or to summon a copy of you that lasts 30sec.

            If a knight was made which could summon beasts with cards or something or had long timers, this knight class would have to have low chr. Otherwise you're making the BST pointless in a sense. I think it wouldn't work.

            I think blue mage could be implanted into this game though, plenty of cool enemy abilities and spells to to have them learn. Not all but select few. And if a blue mage was made I'd give them long recast timers. This would make them a med-high level job and they could melee some like RDMs.

              A male mithra is a bit.... weird..... since the story already said mithra male stays at home, and female fights ;;

              Blue mage would be nice, gathering new magic is a bit fun as well... may be 2 hours would be.... random monster skill including those you didn't get?

              Time mage is ... well.... what can a Time mage get...? Stop? Haste 2? Hastega? or something? since Haste and Slow are in game already... and time mage would sorta coincide with bard, no? both a supporter class...

              Mechanics, like that king-type person from FF6, use like... special gun and chainsaw... and 2hrs would be..... a power attack like RNG, may be?

              Mimic.... he's in almost every snes FF....

              Fung Shui person+ Dancer from FF5.... like... being able to use the weather and the terrain... and use special dance to attack... etc

              (I played Japanese versions of the old FF series, so sorry for the confusing job names m(_ _)m )

                Blue mage would be really cool, having all these different attacks and spells from different mobs, and you can only learn them after you've fought 1 and nearly died or something.

                Time mages could be implemented in the game easily: They have Demi, and Demi 2, etc. Also, i think they should have float, Quick (which allows them to do double magic once they've cast the spell "Quick" but that could be a high lvl spell), and many other time-related spells that are stronger than the ones that Whm, Rdms have. I think Time mages should also get this one spell, "Zone" as their 2hr, which would basically zone the entire party (except those who died) to the nearest zone, or closer to it, making it easier for the party to escape.

                I still believe there should be an extra mage knight class, but more of a Necromancer type. Since we have skels, ghouls, maybe the necromancer knight could raise an army of skels, perhaps get about 4-5 by the time they're level 20 or so. I think that would be just another cool summoning (besides Bst, and SMN).

                I believe Samurai should have more SwordTechniques, like they had in FFT, maybe just the main (GK) could get a special attack where a sword spirit is cast from the sword to hit the mob(just like how Jump is a special attack) with long timer.

                I also think that a new class that would be beneficial would be a calculator or a mime, more importantly a calculator, as he would help create the link between attacks and spells from alliances, and make them hurt the IT mobs even more.

                That's all i can think of for now.

                  how about "Machine Makers"

                  a group who specialize in the creating of robotic lifeform... you would be able to create all kinds of robots/droids,etc from metals found throughout the world.... the robots could serve different kind of purposes... there could be classes of the robots for destruction and would work kind of like a bst how you tame creatures but instead you creatre differnet kind of bots with all kinds of abilities.

                  "Shapeshifters"

                  this group could take on the form of different things.. maybe it could take on the form of other monsters or it could take on the form of the monster you are battling and become a clone of that monster.. like a mirror image of that creature.... you would gain all the effects of the monster you are fighting and look exactly like him.. in effect becoming its shadow..maybe the name could be changed to "Shadowshifters" heehe..


                  "Gravespawn"

                  to get this job you would have to die... and become undead... you would focus the rest of your life as one of the undead and your appearance would change over time... untill your higher levels you would appear more and more like a vampiric demon..

                    I'd like to see Blue Mage, Sorcerer, Karateka, Fencer, and Geomancer make a return.

                    Blue Mage (BLU), well, we know what that'd be like. They could add a bunch of new enemy abilities in for the Blue Mage to learn, should they put the class in.

                    Sorcerer (SOR) could have the Red Mage's En- spells, as well as higher versions (Enthunder II, for example), multitarget ones (like Ramuh's Rolling Thunder, Enthundaga), and spells that make the Sorcerer do pure elemental damage with his attacks, instead of physical damage and a little added elemental damage.

                    Karateka (KTK) could have a bunch of abilities that complement the Monk's, and could have new weapon types, such as tonfas, nunchaku, and sai.

                    Fencer (FEN) could specialize in using a one-handed sword, but would get a bonus to their abilities without as shield. Their abilities could focus around evading, parrying, and countering attacks, as well as attacking fast. They could get abilities that let them counter attacks more often and abilitie that give them a chance to counter an enemy's attack every time it's parried or evaded, and maybe an ability that gives them a chance to counter an enemy's attack even if they aren't the target of the attack.

                    Geomancer (GEO) would, of course, have their Geomancy abilities from FFT, but also have the Elementalist's abilities from FFTA. These elemental spells would have greater or lesser power depending on the day and the terrain.

                      Just set up an account here and ran a search for this very topic I really woudl like to see a blue mage implemented.


                      The take I had on it was to have your 2 hour be "learn" and it is only active for about 5 minutes. Then it'd be really hard to learn abilities (as it shoudl I think). If there aren't many creature specific abilities (like the old staples of Goblin Hammer, White Wind, Big Guard) then maybe allow them to learn spells from a player that is lower than 3/4 of their level, but only if the spell is cast upon you something like 100 times. Also you could implement a limit of ~15 spells that they can learn till they have to start forgetting old ones to learn any more, then you would have to be a bit more picky with what kind of abilities you learned. They would most likely have to be at least RDM level of melee ability for most of these ideas to work.


                      While I am posting anyway, is there an Ultima line of spells/abilities yet?

                        There is no Ultima spell line really or any other spell thats hugely powerful. The closest spells are the Ancient magic spells like Freeze, Quake and Burst which are balanced by high casting times, high MP cost, and high agro generation due to the damage they deal. I doubt their will ever be any spells which are utterly ungodly like Knights of the Round or Ultima...it just isn't balancing in MMORPG's. Its also why Holy in console FF's was superb, Holy in this game isn't that great, the biggest benefit to it is the really fast casting time.

                        Anyway as jobs go, I think a lot of the jobs from FFT were pretty damn cool. My favorite was Calculator, even though when you had all the abilities they were fairly overpowering, it just added more strategy to the game to be able to use one well. Blue Mage I could see being realisticlally implemented. Mostly I think they should learn abilities similar to what Xienwolf said, not totally sure though, just no bought spells as it would sort of be out the Blue Mage idea. Dancer might be interesting, I barely recall the job from FFT so not sure. Geomancer would probably work very well in the current set up of the game given the importance of weather effects and what day it is. Time mage...well we have Red Mages which basically fill in any role a Time Mage would have.

                        The only idea I can think of which I haven't seen really is a Necromancer, sort of similar to EQ necromancers if you played them, but more necromancerish if that makes any sense. Idea being you could kill monsters and raise them for a short period of time to fight for your party - say every minute. Also could have a large selection of Darkness based magic which would compliment the mostly underused compression chains, possibly slightly weaker versions of the Demi spell at higher levels, heals which cost little MP but exchange a value of the necromancers HP to give someone else HP, group regeneration spells which drain HP from the monster over time while healing the party, and a personal short duration mp regen ability which trades HP for MP. Actually this is very similar to EQ necromancers, only actually useful to parties as opposed to being underpowered Wizards. Mostly it would be kind of neat to see a healer type of job which can substitute a White Mage but in a different kind of way. Maybe even the ability to distribute the parties' HP as a way to heal. Alternatively, no MP but familiars/vessels or whatever which the necromancer draws their spell casting ability from by draining their HP. Give it say a 15 minute reuse time and the necromancer can only use it until it dies meaning you'd need to manage the vessels HP to use it.

                        Not sure really what job could be added since most of the bases are covered as it is. More melee jobs aren't so much needed, tons of them as is so yea probably more mage types would be added.

                          I have a few good ideas but they would probably be for the japaneese players for this time in the game.

                          I think there should be Master Jobs to get after your advanced jobs and heres a few I though of.........

                          Holy Knight(HLK) Requirements:lvl 75 Paladin and lvl 50 Warrior.
                          I always liked the holy knight like orlandu from FFT and though it would be a awesome job.The job would have AWESOME DEfENCE because its requirements is a paladin and its attack would be better than before and it would have double as much magic as the before paladin job.The 2 hour ability for it would be Holy Expolosion like from FFT and you would do a crazy dmg attack on the monster and however much you hit it then you would get healed that much back or it would be shared with your party.

                          Dragon Master(DRM) Requirements:lvl 75 Dragoon and lvl 50 WAR.
                          This would be awesome with the ideas I have for it.First you would do MAD damage for this job but with LOW defence because the main requirment is dragoon.Second your baby dragon from before evolves into a medium sized dragoon and on it legs would be as tall as a galka and it would have 2/3rds of your hp and hit 2/3rd of what you would hit.Thirdly its 2 hour ability would be Meteor jump where you jump into space and dive into your enemy holding your lance forward and after you hit you jump back and 2 meteors come right after you and smash into the monster this move causing insane damage.Fourly, althought this would be to the extreme but since your dragon is so big you would be able to fly on your dragon only for a certain amount of time like a chocoboo and when it gets tired you must feed it alot of a special exspensive food to fly on it again and this could be a 3-4 hour ability and you could fly on it for say 30 mins to a hour.

                          Sorcerer (SCR) Requirments:Have Red mage at 75 and BLM or WHM at 50.
                          In this job you would have insane magic ability and insane mp pool such as it being as much as your hp is or more.In this job you would have great abilitys in white magic and black magic and a below medium fighting ability only able to use 1-hand swords.
                          Also a great 2 hour ability would be Ultima,hopefully most people know what this greatly renowned ability is.really they would just be all around awesome with all types of magic beside summoning and all around good......maybe too good??

                          I have 3-4 more great jobs for after the advanced selection is master jobs were ever added,but I have to go i'll post them later.

                            Perhaps they will introduce a new job relatable to the limbo areas that will be introduced in the expansion. Maybe some jobs that are more evil in nature or something like that.

                            I think they should make Hypello a playable race in the expansion. =]
