  • Job Classes in order by DMG

how would each job rank in DMG based on just damage...wether it being melee, magic or ranged.......

  • #2
That kinda heavily depends on your level..

in overall run, there's no doubt that RNG does the most damage. (provided they don't miss ws'. :spin: ) in higher lvl, they use weaker arrows on purpose to lower the hate...

if u r thinking like "Ranger? Gimme a break! They can't be that strong!!" u r completely missing the point. ranged attack in ffxi is the strongest physical attack. u won't believe how strong it is once u actually see it.

anyways, as to the order by damage, RNG comes first, and the 2nd is MNK. members of the japanese forums conducted a test on this matter, and gathered a bunch of data. the result was, MNK was doing the most damage along the other damage dealing jobs, such as THF, DRK, SAM, WAR, etc. the test included damages of weapon skills, but excluded those of renkei effects. sorry, i forgot about others, but i believe THF came 3rd and DRK in the 4th.

btw, BLM in ffxi is both damage dealer AND healer. but even if BLM uses everything they got to do the most damage, without concern for their lives, they may not even come to 3rd. time need to cast strong magics r relatively long, so considering the damages of normal attacks by other physical damage dealers, along w/ weapon skill damages, BLM won't match damages of top damage dealers. also, of course the damage they can do is limited by their mana, so comparing them is somewhat difficult.(Ancient magics doing like 800 damage costs like 350 mana, thus u can only use it 2 or 3 times.)

keep in mind that mobs r sometimes weak or resistant to specific attacks. for instance, skeletons r weak to striking attacks, but resistant to thurusting damage. that means, MNK does more damage and RNG does less. so it's not always RNG>MNK. the same goes to relations between other jobs.

hi. this is a super stupid topic and a bad question to ask.

I've seen monk that pale in comparison to me in damage, the only thing monk got going for them is the best offensive 2hr. I've seen good players of each class do amazing damage. I've seen rangers, monk, thief, drk all do really really insane damage because they used all the tools thier class has to offer.

And I've seen bad players of each class, doing pathetic.

Monk is a stretch though... drk is definately after ranger typically. If you must compare.
        63 dragoon , 31 white mage, 30 warrior, 13 monk, 10 samurai, 5 thief.

ranger-->dark-->dragoon and then down from there... dragoon not *too* far off from dark though. (Side note - only above 60 when dark has guillotine.. otherwise.. dragoon > dark.)

.. thf only 3rd? I would imagine thf to deal more dmg than mnks easily.

Monks aren't at the top due to weapons kill complications... Thiefs drop lower than those three listed as well..

Ranger, Drk and then Drg... It's all about the end game..

As far as the new 250 WSs though.. We'll have to see =0

you've obviously never been thf if you think thfs rank so low. I deal more damage than the tanks in my party as a thf. At higher level, the damage is even more deadly:

Too bad sneak and trick won't stack anymore ;p one thief hit doesn't beat out multi hit weapon skills over and over and over.. is the point =/

                    Thief

Glancing edge+sneak attack+trick attack is one of the best combos if not the best combo in the game.
Glancing Edge=Next attackdmg is 5x stronger
                    +
Sneak Attack=arguably the most powerful ability for dmg
                    +
Trick Attack=more dmg added to the already 5xsneak attack is very very powerful indeed.

                        Not for yokodama... regardless..

And on a side note - you still won't beat out a constant damaging class. A thief cannot do that consistantly whereas a dark or dragoon could pump out constant guillotines, penta/skewer and whatnot.

Sure - for your one trick pony attack.. a thief could come out on top.. But over time? They aren't the best.

The Thief's ability for Sneak Attack only has a 1 minute cool down time in the mean time while you wait for that one minute to go by you build up TP for Glancing edge pumping that out jsut as a DRG would Penta.

Yeah over time the Thief doesnt do alot of dmg poking the monster but every 1 minute is a massive dmg time for the Thief.

It lags behind though... You've got a dark constantly pumping 4 digit guillotines.. as well as a few standard melee attacks in between...

They do great damage at once but over time - they aren't the best.

Yeah but you gotta give the Thief some credit considering its dmg it can do with probably one of the weakest dmg weapons out there right?
