Shield Skill

Well, I realized that pld have 4 A skills (sword, club, staff and shield), and when check mine, I can only see maxed my sword and evasion. As a tank, I should have my shield maxed, (227 at lvl 65), but It is only at 168...., I´ve tryed everything (soloing mnk beastmens, tanking the high lvl mnk beastmen, tanking garliage or eldieme key partys) and I realized that my healing skill lvl up faster than shield.... Any trip to skill it up? taking my boots off? or else buying the necklace with shield skill + 7? and where?

Shield is really hard to skillup, nothing really you can do except level other jobs and hope it overlaps. My skill is capped as a 57pld.. dont know how:dead:

Yes yes, Shield Skill can be tough to raise up. I am level 69 and my shield skill is at 192.

I am not going to worry about my shield skill until I hit 75.

a) Leveling is getting longer and longer. I have 6 levels left and it will take a while to get there. Your shield skill will go up.

b) Once you hit level 75, if you don't have high enough shield, consider doing the following:
Get every + shield skill item (torque, the shield that gives +10 skill, etc). Supposedly, AGI affects your shield skill so maybe run with an AGI build also. The reason for all this is that theoretically, the high your shield skill is, the better chances you have of blocking something so the more chances to skill up.

Other than that I really am a little lost also. I'd like my Shield Skill to be at 240 or so too ;(

well I was about to say remove all +evasion and +agi.

Apparently the game sees if you evade an attack before blocking or parrying.

The Stumbling Sandals (NM sapling in Battalia) give -20Agi I believe. There are some Mantles with -Agi too and the Heavy Cuirass from Adamantoise also is -Agi.

One thing that I've noticed that if you just go healing or do nothing at all, you'll automatically level up shield skill. So what I would do is go to a spot where your skill can level up (Use the skill level up charts found on mysterytour or the pld forum) and do something to get the monster's attention.

Another thing that helps, is fight a monster that has a lot of 2x hits like Madragoras, ninja/monk type monsters.

Do you really notice a big difference with higher shield level?
