  • Problems seeing animations - gfx card problem?

I recently returned to the game after a break period, in which I upgrade my graphics card, and PSU for my system.

Now, I am having problems with FFXI.

I am unable to see Carbuncle, or the animation for Utsusemi: Ichi.

I have a Radeon x1300 card, driver date 11/09/06 (latest drivers from ATI) and it's occured with the previous driver version as well.

I'm at a loss of what to do.

The game doesn't glitch in any other way? I'd force a file check and see if anything's corrupted - this sounds more like you've got bad .DAT files than a video card problem, if it's just those two things specifically.

To force the file check, go into this folder:
    C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI

    Delete these files:
    patch.cfg
    patch2.cfg
    patch.rst
    patch.var

Make sure you only delete these files and no others.

Start up FFXI, and it should do a file check just as if you were going to get a new update (warning: this can take a while - maybe a few hours if your computer and connection are very slow).

If that still doesn't fix it, then I don't know what's wrong. :/
