Strange happening with my game

Okay, not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but here goes.

I can log into the game perfectly fine but after about 15 minutes, I get booted, no warning just dropped out of full screen. Got the message there was an error in full screen mode so it terminated, (-1) at the end of phrase. I will get a screenshot later. But this is occurring every 15 minutes. I had this go on before but once I completely wiped the computer and reinstalled XP and FF it was gone, suddenly last night it starts up again. Very perplexing unless my HD could be dying?

Any suggestions? I appreciate any help with this.

That's the error you get when some other process window tries to take precedence or generate a popup - XI detects when it's lost focus and crashes.

Have you installed any software that pops up information windows, like antivirus software or chat clients? Try running the game with some of these disabled.

I will check for auto updating to be off, that could be causing the problem but I do know I had all my messengers turned off (wasn't even signed in on them)

I can see that happening once in a while but every 15 minutes consistently?

That happens to me when I forget and leave FireFox running I have a wether slider instaled that comes up once every hour when I have the browser open.

You mentioned that it stopped happening once you reinstalled everything from scratch, then suddenly started up again.

How long did it work properly?

What were the last few things you installed before you started having this problem again?

It worked fine for about 2 -3 weeks, over the weekend I installed abode reader 7 and the photo program that it comes with but uninstalled it last night wondering if that was causing the issue. After I uninstalled it and rebooted my machine, I decided to log in and test it, was in Windy to get some cooking support so it was no biggie if I got bumped and it was still doing it.

When I get home from work later will get a screen shot of the message and hopefully that will help you figure out what the issue could be, will also disable all the autoupdates for my printer and stuff and see if that helps too.

Thanks for all the help so far, am giving you what I know so far. I really don't want to reinstall again if I can correct the problem without doing so.

Run several mal-ware and virus scanners. My friend, after ignorantly running IE with activeX turned on, got some naughty mal-ware installed. Every now and then, something pops and kicks him from the game. When he gets back to Windows, there's a few pop-ups that he closes and returns to the game.

acrobat reader has an auto-updater that runs in the background if you don't turn it off.

I am not running IE but I am running firefox. Browser is closed, but will get a few spyware and anti-virus checkers. I like Spybot and usually run Norton's AV any recommendations on other ones to look into?

The error comes up from either a pop-up like everyone has said or possibly a conflict in your resolution registry settings. I'm presuming you haven't changed those based off of your posts though.

I would check your running processes before playing and look for anything odd. You can usually search for the process name on Google. Most likely though its just some background program that you usually run that is causing the issue.

On an added note, are you using Comcast? They make a firewall available that works pretty well but pops up a little alert any time you get pinged.

I can see the pop-up thing but there is no pop-up on my desktop when it drops me to POL with the error. I know cuz I had to reset my weekly AV update to sundays at 3 am since I am asleep and it wouldn't interfere with my gaming. (that was a while ago).

Thanks eticket will check the processes tonight too. Again thanks to everyone for helping me with this. At least I can check my bird even if parties would be out of the question till I get this cleared up.

Here's another thing to take a screenshot of:

Go to Start -> Run... and enter 'msconfig'. Click the 'Startup' tab and show us what's in there.

easiest thing to do is to look at your running processes in your task manager whenever you get kicked to desktop.

That's the thing though. It doesn't have to be a new window or anything. When AVGs, firewalls, updates or things of that nature, do their thing, the task bar in the lower right usually shifts as a status icon pops up and then goes away. Sometimes something as simple as that shift can force you out of the game.
