You do have to have a credit card for the free 30 days. They don't bill you until your trial is over (and if you cancel before it ends, you won't be billed at all), but it is definitely required to set up the account.

Really one of the easiest ways to find out if your PC will run the game is to try out the Benchmark Program. That should give you a general idea.

You don't have enough RAM to run FFXI comfortably. The game will lag very badly, especially with that on-board graphics card (might not even run - try the benchmark if you're really curious, but I'll say off the cuff that your system specs aren't good enough to play it on PC).

      Yes, you do.

There's a chart on the homepage which tells you what those numbers mean. But if I remember correctly I think 1455 is a bit low. Was that in Hi-Res mode or Low-Res?

Although it has satisfied above necessary environment, when it becomes this score, please try adjusting the permanent station software and the like.
When necessary environment has not been satisfied, " to the method which has the personal computer which has not filled up the specifications " in reference, please try thinking of the replacement and the like of the part.

It is expected it is the machine which can operate the FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows.
When the occasion where the FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows was moved frame rate and the like becomes matter of concern, whether setting of the game (resolution and the like and setting and the like of texture) you try modifying to try thinking, power rise of the machine of utilization (addition of main memory and exchange et cetera of the graphic board) are possible, the ???ꂜ???񮠼br />
In addition, the video card is above recommendation environment, if is, increasing the resolution of 1 time FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows, we recommend also that you try moving.
Depending upon the machine of utilization there is a possibility of operating low without resolution mode and great difference.

It is expected it is the machine which can operate the FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows comfortably.
The video card is above recommendation environment, if is, 1 ranking increasing the resolution of the FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows, it probably is to operate comfortably.

they don't sell PS2s that can take the HD anymore so you would be better off getting a xbox360

              Thanks Yyg!

Nothing says he can't find a used one on Ebay. Unless people are capitalizing on the fact that they're not being produced anymore and skyrocketing the price for it, in which case you'd be better off getting the 360.

Re: Can I play FFXI like this?

My bedroom PC happened to be somewhat similar in specs as the one in the linked page, so I ran a benchmark on it to see how it does.

                      Here's a detail;

                      CPU: Athlon 64 3000+, Rev.E3 Venice (same clock as Sempron 3200+, but w/ 512KB L2 cache)
VGA: GeForce 6150, shared memory set to 128MB (not "LE," so the amount of RAM is fixed unlike the linked one w/ TurboCache)
RAM: 512MB PC3200, 2.5-3-3-8-1, SINGLE channel (I only had 512MB sticks in hand; the linked one has 2x256 for dual channel)
                      HT: 1000Mhz

(detailed so others can point the possible difference(s) w/ the linked one)

This PC scored 3821 in Low Res, which is the acceptable score, but not high enough if you wanna push the performance up to the max.

Difference between GeForce 6150 and LE is TurboCache and the max amount of RAM supported (128 for 6150, and 256 for LE according to the linked page), and since ffxi doesn't require any more than 128 (or even 64 in most cases), performance difference should be minimal.

As for RAM, my PC only had 1 stick whereas the linked one has 2 for dual channel, but as A64 has twice the L2 cache, I'd assume these differences almost cancel out each other, while I also believe that CPU w/ more L2 cache would probably contribute more to the score than dual channel does. (In the benchmark I assume much less loading occurs than the actual playing, so dual channel contributes less than L2 does, I think.)

Taking these into consideration, PC in the linked page would probably score somewhere around 3500 in Low Res. And like I said, it's not high enough if you want the most out of what this game has to offer.

For $398 you can buy a good video card and even 2GB of RAM, so unless for some reason you need a new PC in place of your current one, I recommend that you upgrade the current PC, provided it has an AGP slot. (I doubt SiS760 based PC has a PCI-e slot.) By doing that it'll performe much better than the one in the link.

BTW, is it Athlon XP 3200+ or Athlon 64 that you have now? This makes a considerable difference.

Re: Can I play FFXI like this?

considering the chipset, I think it would be athlon xp 3200.

                        Thanks Yyg!

Re: Can I play FFXI like this?

Im also guessing its a Athlon XP(that chipset is used on some Athlon64 boards tho).
But even tho it will not have that much life left in it for modern gameing, if the computer is still meeting your needs and has a agp slot it might be worth it just to upgrade for now. I used to play on a Athlon XP 2000+ with an ATI 9550 and 512mb of ram, not saying it was great but it worked and I could accually play Half Life 2.
                          So....
Upgrade your videocard. (well install a videocard)
And upgrade your memory to atleast 512mb. (useing 2 256mb sticks)

Yeah, looking at the amount of RAM along w/ the chipset, I'm also guessing it's XP. But as Thrasher pointed out it's also used on some socket 754 mobo's, so I just couldn't rule it out.

But even if it is a socket A 3200XP that is still not a bad cpu. Just this current generation of computer games would be its last.
