Re: What makes a player unique?
Playstyle and personality
There are certain items everyone of whatever job hopes to one day obtain, some people will put them to better use then the others.
Sometimes you pt with people with mediocre gear and go "woah this fool is awesome" and sometimes you play with people decked out and go "lol"
Personality is just a bonus, always fun to meet nice/funny people.

That's really subjective. But I suppose. Besides, my response wasn't for you Icemage. I should quote more often.Originally posted by Icemage View PostWell, in the case of all of the items I mentioned, it takes pretty unusual players to go through with the quests, considering the requirements.

I'm not the first one to point this out in here.

Don't forget RSE and JSE.Originally posted by Icemage View PostI'd say there's a handful of items and quests that are so ridiculous that the number of people capable of obtaining them is small enough to be considered "effectively unique" for all intents and purposes.
Maat's Cap, most of the Relic Weaponry (fully upgraded), Ebisu Fishing Rod all come to mind off the top of my head.

Re: What makes a player unique?
I don't know whether to be appalled or impressed by that......
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...
My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life...
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!
Every night before I went to sleep for 13 weeks,, 14 years later and it is still engrained in my brain

Re: What makes a player unique?
This is my RDM.
There are many like it, but this one is MINE.
My RDM is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
My RDM without me is useless. Without my RDM, I am useless.
I must Solo with my RDM true.
I must solo better than my enemy who is trying to kill me.
I must solo him before he solos me. I will...
My RDM and myself know that what counts in war is not the spells we cast,
the noise of our bursts, nor the fire we make.
We know it is the hits that count. We will hit...
My RDM is alive, even as I, because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a brother.
I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its spells,
and its abilities.
I will ever guard it against the ravages of decay and damage.
I will keep my RDM Refreshed and ready, even as I am Refreshed and ready.
We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God I swear this creed.
My RDM and myself are the defenders of Vana'diel.
We are the masters of our enemy.
We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until there is no enemy, but PEACE.
