So I got off my Taru bum and decided to change my font colors to be better suited for Enfeebling. You know, when I'm back to doing Red Mage stuff.

So I found the text for landing an enfeeble. And I found the text for a resisted enfeeble.

But Altana help me, WHY does it not allow me to change the color of the text for when enfeebles wear off? Normally, it's white, and I changed every white font there was to a different color. Nope, still white.

Ugh. I guess I'd be better off making everything not-important something that isn't white. Maybe a nice, barely noticeable dark blue . . .

I'm sure I've used this one already, but it needs repeating. People who whine about the AH cost of spell scrolls that are easily quested. (For a definition of "easily" that includes "and you've kept up with city fame", and "if you don't have sneak/invis, get some damn powders/oils".)

Yesterday I went to flag Utususemi: Ichi, and helped escort a RDM through grotto for whom it was the first trip to Norg. Said escort consisted 50% of simply saying "use sneak". But said escort-ee was still newb enough to not feel confident to recast when it went down just before the door. When I zoned into Norg, the first thing I did was target her, and I was surprised to see a 20% health bar.

But that wasn't the peeve part. The peeve part was when I mentioned I had just flagged Ichi, she offered to buy it off me. Twice. Er, no. I was flagging it because I was just about to start NIN. And the hardest part of the quest really is getting the fame level. But I had been turning in Yagudo Necklaces from time to time since months ago (yay Windurst home city), and sure enough, I had the needed 4 fame. (Then after leveling NIN a bit, I found out that Tonko was a Norg quest too, and I could've gotten that at the same time, grrr, so I just got both scrolls in the same trip since I'll surely hit 12 today.)

Then a bit later, a ???/BLM17 shouts in Windurst Woods complaining that Warp was 40K. (Which was a double WTF, since the Jeuno AH price is more like 20K, so she must've been looking at the Windurst AH price.) And it's a quest that requires 1) a Slime Oil, and 2) 2 fame in Bastok. Which you can get by means of a repeatable quest that is gil-positive even when you buy the copper rings from a nearby NPC vendor, and even stops working the moment you hit the needed fame. It's probably easier to farm from a fresh content ID than Blaze Spikes.

And a few months ago, an LS mate was whining about the Teleport scroll prices. For the inner crags. And I was like WTF? I had those quests flagged and tagged when I was 35 or so. With WHM/BLM being my only job. I even soloed Altep when it was time for that. The only one I bought was Vahzl, which requires a "very rare drop even with TH2" chest key from Fei'Yin, and I still managed to hit a record low price for it. (75k when was usually 100k and is now 200k)

I guess that brings up the only reason why you would want to buy a scroll instead of quest for it, and that is if you expect inflation to drive up the price. I was doing all my stuff as the economy was still falling, and it only finally bottomed out in December. I'll come out 125k ahead if I get Vahzl now.

Not really a game based peeve.. well it is kinda.

        Timezones and Endgame..

Being Australian, I catch the Japanese prime time (Hell, I'm an hour ahead of them to..) So I'm finding it hard to get into a good Dynamis linkshell that I can actually do both runs a week in. (I have school until 3PM every day) So thats turning out to be an irritating task to try finish.

        Maybe I'm doomed to missions, merits, assualt and parties? ><;

        • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

I'm in the UK. I either have to stay up into 3am for US prime time or wake up at 6am to get JP prime time so getting into an exp party at a reasonable time is difficult in itself. My main LS is mostly UK players with a couple of US and Australian players so at least I have a chance at getting mission/quest help at a reasonable time.

Endgame...I was invited to a Dynamis LS by the Shell runner and while it was a good LS it would have involved me getting up at 5am 3 times a week for the compulsory runs. I'm too busy to to much endgame because of college anyway but yeah that is what I more or less would have been doing.

The Smn can't Carby pull, because that takes even longer to summon an avatar and sic them on the mob than it does for you, the Cor, to shoot off a 600 delay gun. If the Smn has Carby out while running around looking for mobs then they are wasting MP for the most part. Also there is a good chance that the mob will kill Carby and go unclaimed on the way back to camp, letting some other party pull it away.
I had to Carby pull and main heal for the entire 35-37 stretch on my SMN when levelling it as a sub. To be honest with Carby Mitts MP while Carby is out isn't actually that big a deal especially if you know, invite a BRD.

Ive been puller AND tank many times on NIN, SAM, and WAR so being the tank isnt an excuse honestly. You want exp? Then break out of the mold and do something you normally dont do if needed.
I hate pulling on NIN because you can never rely on the second voke actually oking the mob off you while you put your shadows back up. I've died so many times because the party assumed that a low level NIN can throw up shadows without being interrupted.

I don't even know how it's an issue. You have a ranged attack? You pull. Pulling and tanking in Qufim of all places doesn't mean jack. You shouldn't even be getting hit on the way back if you have enough space between you and the mob. I've pulled and tanked with like no issues at all.
To be honest if I'm being invited for the sole purpose to pull and occasionally cast a buff I'd rather the leader ask me to go /NIN or /Mage so I can at least buff myself to be able to take a few hits instead of /RNG which pretty much means that I have to pray that I'm not going to aggro something on the way back to camp (which when you're pulling is going to be inevitable at some point especially if you're at a dangerous "Everything is out to eat you" camp like Garliage or the Mire).

I was taking issue with the people that can claim faster refusing to pull especially that WAR that was carrying acid bolts. Qufim gets overcrowded quickly and I regularly lost mobs in that party because someone with a Crossbow or voke would come along and claim before my gun would fire and that taru being a jerk about it really didn't help any.

Don't get me wrong I'll pull if nobody else can or if say the current puller really, really doesn't want to (as was the case in my last party on COR where the THF was pretty new and wasn't the confident about being able to pull safely).

That doesn't make you less wrong about thinking a DRG can pull with Jump. Jump is hardly a ranged attack (barely more range than normal melee) and it has a long delay after you use it. If you're asking a DRG to Jump pull you might as well ask anyone in the party to pull by running up to mobs and claiming with auto-attack because it's effectively the same thing.
I once had a THF in a party that would do that then hit Flee just to show off. It was hilarious to watch. But like I said above, if I'm doing something wrong I'm more likely to listen if someone simply says I'm doing something wrong. If someone is a jerk about it you'll bet that I'll be a jerk back regardless of if they're right or not. It never hurts to be polite.

What's more annoying is the people who quest the scrolls, sell them for some easy money then complain later when they come to level a job that needs that spell. I know a WHM that sold her Teleport scrolls for easy money when levelling it to sub for RDM them complained endlessly when she decided she wanters to take WHM to 75 instead and found herself having to buy back the scrolls from the AH since parties tended to kick her when they found out that thier WHM couldn't teleport.

My new peeve: how the abilities menu defaults to Job Abilities whenever I log in. Back in the good old days when I was leveling WHM, that just meant I would accidentally hit Benediction every now and then until I learned how to manually sort that menu and move it out of the first slot. Then it was only a Divine Seal wasted every now and then.

But now I'm leveling NIN, and guess what the ONLY thing on that menu is? So just now I go out to hunt up an FoV page and I use the menus to hit my weapon skill because I always leave them pointing there, and... BOOM. Aw, crap. At least I had a Reraise up, but there go 30 tabs counting my Refresh too. The good news is that I can't make that mistake again for two hours.

I'm with Elwynn ....Tired of complainers playing an RPG that don't want to do quests. I'm a quest whore... I've maxed my Sandy fame and my lowest nation's fame is Windy at 4. I remember people offering me gil when I was collecting Yags and almost done... or someone saying "just sell it on AH and make mad gil" YEAH RIGHT!!!

Now that my buddies all want me to help with avatar fights I'm glad to have the fame already so high... all cept for Windy (4). I need to get on that. I knew they were good to farm but I never realized Bee Chip stx were 4k/stk, lmao/weep.

One mishap can occur tho when collecting quest rewards ahead of time. I did the quest for Drain long long ago but didn't have my BLM level'd enough to use. I just got my BLM to 12 the other day and my Drain scroll was gone... Absolutely no idea what I did with it. All I can guess is I either npc'd/dropped it late one night cleaning out spaces thinking it was something else; or I mailed it to someone whose name is very very similar to one of my mules >.< I will never know. But I didn't bitch... just had to farm and buy it. Learned a lesson too.

Got my vote on this too. Do not play Final Fantasy if you dont want to do quest... I mean seriously the game was made around doing quest or missions to get further ahead. I add to the list I cant stand the quest that can repeated so people can just get fame without playing the game.

                    Anyways my pet peeve is myself. Lately it seems like I only play FFXI on weeks when the game economy is convienient lol. When it isn't, I watch anime or play other games. Also, the latent for Foolkiller hasn't been found out still, I have one and still know nothing ;_;

                        /rant on.

Ok. I have recently spent a lot of time away from the game. I spent a lot of time playing other MMO's. I have now come back. And oddly my current pet-peeve is my main charator.

                        Race: Tarutaru. Job: Summoner 75.

Dont worry, this is not going to be about what abilities I think are wrong with the job. Or how avatars and equips are gained. There are enough threads about that all over the place. This one is very simple.

Lack of information inregards to the pet. That this time the only way I can tell the avatars hp is lookin at the bar, or even <pethp> command. But it would be nice to know how much HP that avatar has. Or even the DEF of the avatar. Maybe if we are pushing the boat out.. STR, DEX, AGI,, etc. You see where I am going with this.

At this time Summoners know avatars are weak on their weak day and strong on their day. But we have no idea of how much an effect. Also, given that normal spells can be effected my weaker effects. Can avatars be effected too? and to what degree?

Sure.. I am looking at it from a SMN prespective, but I am sure BST would like to know the stats of the mob he/she charms.

So for now, I have resorted to leveling my mule, a MNK. Just because of the reason above.. and the normal reasons people complain about SMN. It has made me not enjoy playing that job.

Maybe SE wants you to become one with your pet and master it so you don't need to look at the numbers, but feel the strength of your avatar.

So when you are able to say "Ahh, I can feel Carby has 52 STR and 58 DEX" you'll know you've mastered the job.
