Re: Which system is the best to play ffxi on?

I play on the xbox 360 and I have played on the PC. I prefer the PC but seeing as my computer fried and I had FFXI FEVER I had to play it so I got it on the xbox 360. It isn't bad on the xbox 360 it just seems like the controls are easy because for the PC you have a mouse and a keyboard and for the 360 you "should" have a keyboard and the control. If you play the 360 version and don't have a keyboard it is going to take you forever to talk to a person thats just my two cents and PS2 I have no clue how that works I am sure you use a keyboard and a control also but I would still prefer the PC.

I know a lot of other people in the same situation that I'm in, but I know just as many who have had to replace their PS2 several times for various reasons. So I dunno. Reliable may not be the best word to use to describe the PS2, but depending on your personal experience - maybe?

this is my aim i will give you step by step to fix your ps2. I had mine since 1st day of launch and i get disc read errors and with my simple fix i wont get anymore.

Well, since I almost never play anything on my PS2 anymore it's not a big issue for me. However, when FFXII comes out, if it doesn't read the disk I'll have a problem on my hands (that is easily solved by buying a new PS2), but if there is a simple fix, I'll definitely give that a try too.

Re: Which system is the best to play ffxi on?

I have both a PS2 and PC version of XI, and I have to say that the only real advantages PS2 has are the use of a natural controller (read: no adapters) and the ability to relax in your recliner and get some use out of that mondo-huge plasma TV you spent your wife's birthday money on. This, however, is countered by the fact that no matter how big your screen, SE thought it nice to "enhance" the chat log and menus. And when I say enhance, I mean OMGWTFBOBBIXTHURIZNORUMONMAHSKREEN big.

Comparing my PC version vs my PS2?...

Drag your recliner over to your monitor and pick up an adapter.

            As for Xbox 360? Meh, my g/f insists she's following wherever the Final Fantasy series goes, so I'll tell you how the 360 compares when she snaps and buys one >.>;

[GM]Dave>> And what did "the guy" say?
Player>> Something about a guy and a boat.
            Player>> I think.
[GM]Dave>> Do you work for Brady?
            Player>> No. Why?
            [GM]Dave>> Just wondering.

Re: Which system is the best to play ffxi on?

xbox is a lot better, depending on what job you play.

The macro system that myself and WHM75 in my linkshell use are just too difficult on a PC where with the controller on the 360/ps2 you can scroll through targets a lot easier.

For example, it's a lot more natural (for us at least) to target someone OUTSIDE your party on the PS2/360 as opposed to tab key on PC (since the F key's only target your party).

So if it comes down to PS2 vs 360, 360 is HD quality. That choice is obvious..

(and if you bought the 360 without the harddrive you got screwed. The lower quality xbox is just microsoft's way of appeasing people who are angry the system cost so much)

Re: Which system is the best to play ffxi on?

if you have a good pc go pc but if not and you bought the 360 core system you would have to buy a hdd for $120.00 and thats a lot to play a single game

Re: Which system is the best to play ffxi on?

I always got comments on how well my screenshots looked. That's off a PC and I actually shrunk down the image to just 800x600. Left alone in it's 1280x1024 glory, the images are nice.

It's dependant on several factors, of which Windower's cannot be blamed exclusively...

                  1. Your monitor and quality thereof (e.g, you get a crappy sub $100 LCD, you get crappy sub $100 LCD performance)

                  2. Graphics card. Every card has its own quirks. I advise you to install Adobe Gamma correction and go through the steps to normalize the quality that you're getting. Also tweak your graphic card settings. 90% of PC owners don't do this for either a lack of care or are just plain lazy. DO IT.

                  3. Windowers have their own settings for gamma. You can tweak this via the config file.
