Way to prevent valuables from being tossed?

I just tossed my Lucky Egg by mistake. I'm looking to get a Hedgehog bomb to replace it, and tossing a 3mil gil bomb would surely be sore. Is there any way to prevent this?

If your talking about throwing it just make sure you have no /ra macro atall i had a ranged macro and threw my lucky egg

Disable your Ranged Attack macro (and also the Ctrl-key hotkey).

Ctrl-key hotkey.. huh?

One of the key combinations is set to /ranged. I don't remember which one offhand - Ctrl-D? Something like that. Turn that setting off in the FFXI configuration tool.

Getting rid of that macro, plus using a macro to shoot with, is the best defense against losing valuable ammo slot items (that and not playing jobs that use ranged of course).

For a /ranged macro, try doing a forced /unequip on the valuable item, then do an /equip for the ammo you SHOULD be shooting (and remember to add a /wait to make sure you don't hose your /ranged or /ws command afterwards).

I believe they completely got rid of the Ctrl + D ranged hotkey just because of this reason. People were throwing eggs unintentionally.

no its still there by default, its up to the player to disable it.

Oh, I didn't know there was a shortcut key for /ranged. I'll take a look at the config tool when I get home from work and see if its enabled or not. I briefly looked at it before when the event came out, but that was to ensure there wasn't any shortcuts enabled for /range for the PS2 game controller I use playing FFXI on my PC. Thanks Icemage for explaining it and tips on disabling it
