Hello, I just registered here because I have a good friend who has been spending some time convincing me that I should play Final Fantasy XI with him. After much pestering and convincing, I was sold. However, this is where we ran into our problem.
Since we both just got new computers capable of handling FFXI well, we went out to look for it. Problem is, nowhere around seems to have it. Some Background information is that we live in Canada, in the Atlantic region and all the stores in the local area don't seem to carry it anymore. (Walmart, EBgames, Futureshop [Some may know as Bestbuy], ToysRUs, Zellers (Getting a little despirate here) and some assorted independant stores.
At each place, we were met with the same responce: "Sorry, we don't carry it anymore, I don't think we can get anymore in and I haven't seen it in Months." We decided to take the search online, but it would appear that the Only Canadian Retailer is Amazon.ca. This is fine, however their price for the FFXI World Pack (Original + 2 Exps) is $39.99 CND +Tax. I personally find this a little steep.
A Third friend suggested we order from one of the Numerous US sites, but I'm afraid in the end it will cost us more, since you pay American Tax, Duties and Canadian tax as well as shipping.
So I was wondering if anyone around here has any suggestions as to what to do with the Predicament. All the other US sites have it for 19.99-24.99 which only comes to about $30-34 CND. Is there anyone with a solution, or should I just quit my whining and fork out $40 (Free Shipping) for the game?
