    yagudo drinks recover 3 mp/tick, same as refresh does, but it wears off sooner, so it recovers less mp overall.

    at least, i think it does.

        You guys really need to do your homework before you start posting nonsense.

        Melon juice and yagudo drink both give 2mp/tick. Refresh is 3mp/tick.

          AHHHH RUUN!!! Apple Pie Jr. I mean, Icemage scolded you! That's why I stay in the corner and laugh at you all. I think me and only 10 red mages on my server (glares at Zempten) are like the only Red Mages that COULD melee and do their shit effeectively.

          However, It'd take a crapload of potions and uhm, it would be pointless. Point being, chill out when you have to stretch your MP to the point of crying for the Refresh Timer to wind down. Ha, swords in exp. Only if there is a ninja tank and a Bard and a WHM for the Haste.

            Only uncursed beverages grant you an MP regen rate (without having to rest) higher than Refresh ...

            On an aside, I think the best RDMs are the ones that actively use their JAs too. I've seen RDMs that never use their Convert ability (On top of a piss poor Refresh management) and I've been partied with a few RDMs that not only do convert actively, but use their subjob abilities as well (Elemental or Divine Seals) AND ...

            enfeeble
            refresh
            dispel
            cure
            MB
            melee

            Yes, some RDMs are extremists and also quite the perfectionists. I've even had one RDM (JP) scold a RNG (JP) about not pulling more frequently even going as far as challenging him to pull 3 mobs because he said something to the effect that if he couldn't sleep the adds (Bibiki Bay) that we had no business being there in the first place ... ;3

              nooooooo!! the scolding hot water! it burns!!! lol^^

              i was in a pt with a red mage the other day. he would only refresh the white mage between battles... once in awhile...
              and get this: he melee'd. not with a sword... with a wooden spoon.

              every time he would step between me and the mob, i would sata>>viper bite over his shoulder for 500+ damage, hoping he would die.

              come on! when i played rdm, i stopped meleeing when i learned convert. i don't mind a rdm meleeing, but with a wand?

              we made chain 1's.

                But it doesn't cost mana or interfere with your cast timer, and Yag drinks net you about the same MP. In a situation where you have to keep a lot of people refreshed, using drinks on yourself instead of Refresh doesn't seem like such a bad idea, if expensive.

                This idiot on the other hand ... ZOMG. Synthing and handing out refresh effects via the trade window has got to be a hundred times more of a pain not only to everyone in the party, but for the dumb rdm that's doing it. Longer time to synth than to cast and then the deadtime of using trade has got to mean that rdm was doing nothing else in the pt. Why on EARTH would anyone do that? To show off their 1337 level 40 cooking skill? Pfft. And furthermore, if someone were to do that, why would they even bother playing the job that gets refresh as a spell?

Finding a publisher might be a trick and getting SE's approval too but in the end it could be a goldmine if done by KNOWLEDGABLE FFXI'ers.

                      you know what else would be cool? if we could get real ffxi'ers to make a real strategy guide.

                      not like that Brady Strategy Misguide. it only covered the first 25 levels or so and sounded like it was written by a dunes n00b. (it suggests job combo's like war/whm and smn/blm lol)

                      of course, the book would be the size of a phone book lol, if it tried to include everything...

                        Give the guys some credit. Strat guide teams have to work on very short time lines and it takes some people months to stop being newbs if they ever do.

                          Ya thats the problem. A knowledgable player isn't going to make a half assed guide. They are going to pimp it out to the max with info. A guide the size of a phone book of a large metro area isn't too appealing! LOL

                            You also have to think of the hard work and time going into that.

                            Furthermore, why even bother with a strategy guide. We have this site and others that are pretty informative. Also, if you don't understand what you are reading you can ask people on forums like this one.

                            And on top of that, its practically free!

                              I use alla and this site, and they give all the info i will possibly need. plus like Raynor said, we have ppl to ask questions here... personally, i think the brady games strat guides suck major. i only use em for sc, spell, and synth charts, but they're not even complete :/
