    THAT just makes this game more like WoW or WC, mass troops and just force your way through. I'm convinced there is some way to slow the regen and weaken/stop the 2hrs. It makes no sense from a development point of view to put this into the game. Let's try to stay away from "oh SE must have gotten tired of everyone winning so they put an impossible NM" kind of talk. that just sounds utterly ridiculous.

    and for goodness sakes people. AV has been what... 1 day old? and you're already throwing in your towels? seriously...

      Well rediculous and unlikely if the statement is true that the development team actually tested the monsters first and was able to beat it with like 18-36 members or something.

      Lol, imagine if AV isn't the last one. What if a 3rd pops after it

        yes i think too that the 7 weapons might be the answer but i think it will take a lot of time to get them , to pop the NMs that drop the weapons you need a lot of items and get more items from that NMs to pop the next which it is said they arent 100% dropped and do the same until be able to pop JoL, i dont want to spent months to get that weapons lol, i think i ll be happier in sky lol

            Oh I think Aeni has quite a good idea of what's going on. Her point was to stop trying to throw damage at the thing and look for another alternative. There must some kind of special item or condition in order to weaken the NM so you can defeat it. It might take time to get everything you need and the 7 virtue weapons thing is a good start. (There's still no guarantee that will even work but it's better than just complaining about it and screaming nerf it) That's not that hard to understand. No reason to be so stubborn about it.

              i'm slowly reading through the blue gatyr forum where this was posted, and almost every suggestion made is some sort of over the top tactic. something like 'what about 20 rdm chainspell aspir?!' or '15 drk and 15 blm with capped dark magic aspir?!' or '15 drk bloodweapon kraken club?!'

              macht's idea about virtue weapons is the best yet. whether or not if its true, it makes more sense than any boneheaded brute force tactic.

              i'm totally sure its some tactic like 54 bst cb amigo sabotender sic to destory ze supar AV nm ::

                      3 and 7 are in the bible and happen to be my personal favorite numbers ^^.

                        So do all the people at Blue Gartr (experience players). In regard to JoL, there is no item found yet that can weaken it. If there was the JP LS sure as hell would have used it. You can't just test random stuff on a pop like this. I highly doubt you understand that the work up to JoL is at the very least one month (If you're lucky). Working with what's available to us right now, to defeat it at this moment the best strategy was BLM rush, and it worked. Of course a year down the line JoL and AV will have been popped many more times (hopefully), and we'll know which strategy to use.

                        Not very imaginative to bum rush it but the point was to surpass his massive regen. It worked. AV, of course was harder than JoL. Testing items and strategies on him is even harder. The community right now just doesn't have the resources to put towards popping him just to wipe to multiple 2hrs and -ga spam. No one has said nerf it right off the bat either.

                        You spend your time in sea for hours each week for non-guaranteed drops, ridiculous fight conditions (it's fun though. Quake II 4tw!), and then say look for another alternative.

                          Not saying what you did was wrong. I sincerely doubt I could've done that well myself. And I'm not saying that you guys suck now because you can't find a solution right now this second. What I and others are saying is that there might be an alternative to defeat him. Actually it's not a matter of if there is another alternative, it's just a matter of finding out what that is right now. And it might take some time to find it. Be patient. Obviousy straight damage doesn't cut it. So Aeni was right in saying to try to find another method. If you want to beat it you kinda don't have any other choice...

                              There might very well be an alternative solution, however with the way the whole system works in sea, it's really just stupid the way it's set up.

                              I believe the correct term for this is "cockblock".

                                Look at the recent interview that was posted from one of the Live Events. In it, there was questions about the Development Team looking to make changes to the BLM class. The answer, as usual, was very vague.

                                I do not believe the Development Team will be drastically modifiying the way the BLM job class performs.

                                However, I believe that the Development Team in conjunction with the Monster Developers are looking for ways to nullify "Zerging" in this game. For those of you not familiar with the term, Blizzard a while back developed an RTS game called Star Craft. One of the strategies in a tournament that was used was a massive rush of units, so that any defense would not be enough to counter it. The race in the game, called the Zergs, lend itself well to that tactic. Hence, the term "Zerging."

                                By introducing new areas with new monster types and NMs that have the ability to counter a BLM zerging, the Development team would've succeeded at preventing the proliferation of what I believe is known as an exploit. I sincerely believe the Development Team did not intend for battles and fights to be done in this matter: Jormy bum-rushed in under 15 min., KB blasted to kingdom come in short order, et cetera.

                                Rather than nerfing BLMs, when they are not so much unbalanced in normal fighting situations (experience points) this is the best the Development Team can come up with.

                                BTW, those of you who are crying foul about having to figure out alternative strats, it obviously sounds like FFXI is your first MMORPG experience. Many other MMORPGs have featured encounters that required strategy and thinking out of the box. Apparently, maybe the FFXI community is just too immature to understand this, or we're filled with unimaginitive players who are too used to using Game Shark codes, 3rd party hacks and RMT gold to get their way through their gaming careers.
