twilight is basically a way of saying end times or dark times.

The twilight of the Ziraat happened 10k years ago then they died off.

The apocalypse would bring about the twilight and fall of the 5 races.

    • to be honest, while I agree with the interpreation of "twilight"..
we honestly don't KNOW what exactly would happen if Promathia were unleashed..
maybe we're all in for a huge plot twist and he's actually a good god or something..
      who knows.

as for the kindred, the kindred were formed with the shadow lord (raogrimm in his rage) found the fragment of the black magicite which if you're in chapter 5 you know was taken to the northlands by the multi-national expedition. The black magicite is actually the emptiness stored in prishe, but formed into a crystal due to the accident at the baptismal cermony.
This emptiess has some call (promathia himself?) and this drew raogrimm which granted him the power of the shadow lord status and created demons to protect him.
The beastmen are under the assumption that the magicite was their god, and thus made their homes all near magicite similar to it.

heh, well I'd rather not horribly spoil, but imbedded in Prishe's chest is the black magicite which contained the emptiness of 10,000 years...

            • Just some interesting storyline notes...

I'm guessing that there is room for the appearance of the two strongest elemental avatars in the storyline of Chains of Promathia - the two who appear in the constellations, yet do not have Protocrystals that we know of to be intact. If the sky holds true, and Alexander and Odin make appearances in CoP, it could make the story very interesting indeed...

My speculation was always that Prishe and the Elder Zilart Prince Eald'narche came in contact with the same crystaline source at some point - they both carry the exact same affliction of agelessness, which isn't exactly 'common' in Vana'diel...

So if Prishe DOES have that magecite inside of her, as JadeNightshade says, is it possible that Eald'narche came into contact with that master crystal in the past? And the implicaitons of that are rather interesting.

But I have to wonder about Emptiness being related to the Mothercrystals being drained. Diabalos makes a pretty big deal about the Emptiness being related to Promathia's curse upon the races of Vana'diel, and how it won't affect them anymore once everyone forgets about Promathia. If Emptiness is something that is directly related to the draining of the crystals, then that seems to be a bit of a contradiction there.

An interesting note a friend of mine and I made a while back while discussing Diabalos' explanation about Promathia's curse and his chains.

Only the humans seems to recognize and worship Altana and Promathia directly as Gods - all of the other races upon Vana'diel seem to have different names for them. The Beastmen in perticular, although supposedly having been *created* by Promathia, know nothing about him - their religious culture is very diverse, and although they might worship a God of Twilight, its not Promathia they worship. Thus, wouldn't that make them immune to Promathia's curse? Even more strangely, the only race of Beastmen who apparently know anything about Promathia are the Moblins... who actually charge adventurers with going out and telling the other Beastmen about the existance of their Dark God. The Moblins are obviously strange, but are they working to bring even more creatures under the influnence of Promathia's curse?

On a similar note, Ugglepleth may well be the Tonberry aspect of Altana. Things have just gotten... wierd, given how warped the Tonberry are.

Personally, I think that the God that the Zilart worshiped was Promathia himself - and that he ultimately cursed them for trying to walk into HIS domain, and ultimately proclaim themselves as his equal. However... there exists the possiblity that Promathia restrained himself, attempting to wipe the knowledge of his existance from the minds of all on Vana'diel, because he realize that not only would his curse destroy the interlopers who wished to intrude upon his domain, but all life on the planet as well. However, because people are so good at keeping records / the moblins / some other factor, Promathia has not been forgotten, and thus his curse continues.

The irony of the fact that Nag'modala, who wishes to enter Paradise, is a Kuluu is also very amusing. As Bahamut proclaims, he has a pact with the Kuluu, that is somehow related to the Chamber of Eventide, and because of this pact he is bound to destroy all of the races of Vana'diel. If Bahamut exists to protect the gate, and keep mortals from entering paradise, and Nag'modala, the last of the race who gave up their 'humanity' so to speak in order to keep the Zilart from reaching Paradise, wishes to enter Paradise... well. The irony is rather amusing. Because Bahamut's pact with the Kuluu to destroy the five races is in force as long as Nag'molada lives, and Nag'molada wants to enter Paradise...

              • I just completed all there is to complete at the moment..
so allow me to explain best I can what I found out in regards to your post.

"I'm guessing that there is room for the appearance of the two strongest elemental avatars in the storyline of Chains of Promathia - the two who appear in the constellations, yet do not have Protocrystals that we know of to be intact. If the sky holds true, and Alexander and Odin make appearances in CoP, it could make the story very interesting indeed..."

-At the moment there is no hope of Alexander or Odin making an appearance and probably won't show up at least in this expansion.

"My speculation was always that Prishe and the Elder Zilart Prince Eald'narche came in contact with the same crystaline source at some point - they both carry the exact same affliction of agelessness, which isn't exactly 'common' in Vana'diel..."

-This is very possibly indeed. But Prishe is not the only one with immortality and agelessness. A green midget once said.. there is another.
The Chamber of Eventide which is slowly becoming a main focus of the story, was created to "repair" the Zilart (I'll leave that wonderfully general as to force you to read my guide ) but it was too unstable and was only used on 1 person.
The Chamber has the exact same effect as what happened to Prishe and indeed Eald'narche. So confirmation remain to be seen, but it's a good idea.

"So if Prishe DOES have that magecite inside of her, as JadeNightshade says, is it possible that Eald'narche came into contact with that master crystal in the past? And the implicaitons of that are rather interesting."

                - Well, Prishe never came in contact with a master crystal. Prishe's immortality was (I believe) a side effect of the baptismal accident.
SPOILER: 10000 years ago the keeper of the apocalypse was prophecized to appear in Tavnazia. Holding the emptiness of 10,000 years within this child (the abhorent one), was Prishe.
But the baptismal accident crystalized the emptiness in the form of a dark crystal within her body.
So that's kinda like Eald'nrche is how he has a crystal embedded in his eye.
                but eh.. I don't know..

"But I have to wonder about Emptiness being related to the Mothercrystals being drained. Diabalos makes a pretty big deal about the Emptiness being related to Promathia's curse upon the races of Vana'diel, and how it won't affect them anymore once everyone forgets about Promathia. If Emptiness is something that is directly related to the draining of the crystals, then that seems to be a bit of a contradiction there."

-Well, it's best explained in that..
The crystals contain the light and power of the world. But, like with all light, there is always shadow - the emptiness. Historically, the Emptiness existed and the crystals came in to being and the light of it banished the darkness. But even defeated, the emptiness can never die. For within even the brightest light it will exist.
                Now, story wise, with Diabolos.
I think he was being rhetorical by saying that if you forget the curse it will leave you. Also later it is put another way..
it's only a cure becuase we call it that.
And finally, orignally there was 1 crystal which fought the emptiness..
but then it was broken into 5 crystals..
I believe I know the reason, but I'm not willing to speculate til
                it's revealed in the story.
But the reasoning for draining the crystal and the emptiness and all that will be explained in the plot.
so I'll try not to spoil that for ya when you get to the great cs ^^

"Only the humans seems to recognize and worship Altana and Promathia directly as Gods - all of the other races upon Vana'diel seem to have different names for them. -man alot here...
                ok
                1. not only humes, but the Elvaan are waaaay more into the religious aspects. But also the other 3 "good" races believe in Altana. However, the Mithra sinhunters make it clear their history mentions nothing of Promathia. So this is a plot point yet to be resolved.
                2. As for the beastment, they're god is the shadowlord..
who in a roundabout way is a product of the darkness of Promathia...
but to the beastment their god is something called the "dark divinity" which SPOILER: is actually just the a fragment of the crystal that was part of Prishe, which was taken by the expedition north. The voice of promathia within made them all crazy and caused the scenes we see in chapter 4 (of the original missions). They worship this as their god.
                3. The moblins love for promthia is explained in chapter 5 of CoP. Basically long ago the Goblin race has a prophecy in which they are told they will find a iron gollem beneath the earth will grant them infinate power. So a faction of the goblins (soon to be known as moblins) breaks off and focuses their entire existance on this task of finding the gollem. Well, they eventually come across a strange statue and begin to worship it. But no power is given to them and they freak out. They head back into the above ground world (about 100 years ago story time) and begin to ravage and kidnap people and steal ancient texts in search of anything to tell them how to activate the statue. Jabbos a Galka warrior of the day decides to head down into the city and meets with the Moblins. He discovers to his shock they are worshiping a statue of Promathia. He realizes they are mistaken and this isn't the iron gollem of legend. He tells them this, but instead of realizing their mistake the Moblins come to understand this as a sign that Promathia sent the prophecy and they were supposed to find this statue.
that's why they believe in Promathia.

"On a similar note, Ugglepleth may well be the Tonberry aspect of Altana. Things have just gotten... wierd, given how warped the Tonberry are."

                - the Tonberry is the Kuluu (after 10000 years of mutation after the accident with the opening of the gate)..
they worship the destruction of altana and are very veeeery hateful.

"Personally, I think that the God that the Zilart worshiped was Promathia himself - and that he ultimately cursed them for trying to walk into HIS domain, and ultimately proclaim themselves as his equal. However... there exists the possiblity that Promathia restrained himself, attempting to wipe the knowledge of his existance from the minds of all on Vana'diel, because he realize that not only would his curse destroy the interlopers who wished to intrude upon his domain, but all life on the planet as well. However, because people are so good at keeping records / the moblins / some other factor, Promathia has not been forgotten, and thus his curse continues."

-The Zilart make it clear they worship altana. The reason they seek to enter paradise is they believe they were forcefully pulled from that realm. Like I mentioned earlier, there was 1 giant crystal. At the time there was 1 race and they were all powerful and magical. But the crystal was split into 5, and they changed the world and those in it. The ancients were ripped from paradise and were determined to get back. They would gather the light from the 5 crystals and combine that power in Delk's tower and open a gate to that paradise. The problem is, there was a reason they were forced out..and when they tried to get back in they were punished. Why they were booted in the first place is a mystery, but we know why the ancients wanted back in.

"The irony of the fact that Nag'modala, who wishes to enter Paradise, is a Kuluu is also very amusing. As Bahamut proclaims, he has a pact with the Kuluu, that is somehow related to the Chamber of Eventide, and because of this pact he is bound to destroy all of the races of Vana'diel. -just some things on this
                1. Nag'molada isn't the last kuluu, as you will soon see.
                2. The pact really has nothing to do with Nag'molada. As for bahamut, his pact is with the mysterious boy. And destroying the world and such is all part of a deeper plan which will be revealed in time. But to bahamut, it is the only way.. TO HELP US.

Some of the reason that why zilart want to enter to Paradise is explained in ZM6-7.

In the chamber of Oracles dawnmaidens explain you that 10000 years ago, the zilart prince was in in Delfutt Tower for some reason and he watched the ligh in the central core of stellar fulcrum , then he saw a vision of the true paradise, and he hear a voice that explain to in order to open de gates of paradise they need to gather togueter the 5 lighs of the crystals, they explain that the zilart was a kind of "anthena" and all the zilart watched the same vision ("whisper of the souls" explain in Cop missions"and that is why the kuluu cant see the vision of paradise). its explain later that the main purpose of Tu´lia as gather all the lighs of crystals in order to open the gate.

i always was in the impression that is the reason for the japanese name fot ROZ : " The Vision of Zilart"

i read your guide and i cant find where is this.

                  • Are you playing the japanese version of the game?
I can't find that section in any cutscene from the NA version..
but I may be looking in the wrong place.

As for my guide, I'm intentionally leaving certain things out so when you find out at key points, the readers won't already have been spoiled and thus lose the "shock value" of events..
there are many times in CoP where I've done this..
I'm not trying to give the whole story, just a retelling of it the best way possible without boring people to death
As for the the whisper and the reasoning behind Delk's and Tu'lia I think I explained those well in the guide.
But no.. I can't recall this "vision" you speak of..
which of course is going to drive me nuts now.

Yeah the orignal japanese name preety much alludes to that when you meet with Yve'nolle and the dawnmaidens in the chamber.

The translation may have been lost when it came over to NA territory. But the reason teh kuluu and the dawnmaidens dont want the ziraat to enter the gate is because they believe the "vision" will destroy them all by releasing the "evil " on Vanadiel. But yes it is mentioned that the ziraat have the "vision" of paradise. And attempt to pass this vission onto others, Like after you kick Kams but and Eald speaks on it a little.
