Charmed by Enkelados

I was farming for gil the other day on the 10th floor of Upper Delkfutt's Tower. I ran up on an NM named Enkelados. "Hmmmm..." I thought. "I know I could solo this guy." Sooo, about half way into the fight, something totally unexpected happened. He whipped out Charm. I was totally powerless. Here I am, a lvl 54 RDM, fully buffed, and I couldn't do anything but sit and watch as Enkelados and myself attacked some poor guy. (don't be too sad for him, I think he was a professional gil farmer) I eventually became uncharmed after he killed the NM. I have never seen anything like it though. There I was, being my merry RDM self, and WHAM!!! I had absolutely no control. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you know of a way to avoid being charmed when you are solo?

WOW, that is wierd!, so did you actually like follow him like a pet automatically, and w/e he engaged you did? like he made you fight PEOPLE? :confused:

Kind of a spoiler, but get used to this. There's NMs in Dynamis that charm anyone and everyone in a certain radius. Nothing like seeing 45 people following some damn Orc around until charm wears.

For the record, that gigas charmed me too. Then charm broke, I rested and went at him again. He didn't charm me that time, and died. =p (No drop)

Yes. I followed him around for about 2 minutes until someone came and claimed him. As soon as he started fighting, I pulled out my sword and started hacking at the player. I didn't cast or anything....I just stood there hacking away.....

If I heard it right isn't like 1 monster charming a whole mass? So it could end up with like 1/3 of the group charmed by this one monster?

Yeah, basically the best you can do is just buff your light defense and hope it's enough to resist it. The nice thing is it only does simple attacks as far as I've had happen to me, that would just suck if I ended up using my Barrage and Eagle Eye on some unlucky person to come by.

before you pull a BST NM in dynamis everyone unequips there weapons so after it uses charmga you just point and laugh and beat the shit out of the NM.

To avoid being charmed by Enkalados in Upper Delkfutt Tower you wait first for him to spawn his bats pet before fighting him. You take him down and ignore his bats until he's dead. Then he wont charm you.

Same goes for any BST NM (besides the Dynamis ones I believe that just AoE charm no matter what I think...could be wrong about that).

You have to be careful though. On my server, Asura....Ending, Faerieanna, and Qingzi will kill the NM's bats if they see you fighting the NM in hopes that it will charm you so they can try to team up on you and kill you.

They have attempted this on me many times, but I've never been charmed and after the 1st time they did this if they're in the area I go into the fight with him at 100%TP at least and dont use it unless they kill his bats. If they kill his bats I use Vorpal Blade to kill him quick before he gets to use charm.

They dont want any competition in their tower. They farm it 24/7 and admit to working for IGE in /tells. I pay them the same when I see them fighting Enkalados...I kill the bats and watch and pray they get charmed. Hasnt happened yet unfortunately.

A guy I know once killed Faerieanna while charmed though. Very funny!

Yes during a Dynamis trip once , My PT was the "puller" PT. but we all got to close to the BST NM and ended up killing two Pt's full of people. I fgot charmed again and killed myPT leader a ninja haha.

Presumably you accidentally went up to the 11F? He doesn't spawn on the 10F and if someone brought him down there, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't stay there for long.

But you didn't really answer the question, can you be killed by another PC while you're charmed?

I thought when you got hit it would uncharm you. So maybe if they could somehow one shot you...I might be wrong though.

Enkelado's (sp) 10th floor, the end of either hall. (can charm)

Pallas 11th floor, the middle of the floor. (can charm)

Alkyoneus 12th floor, the middle of the floor (no record of charming)

And yes, I've kill quite a few people (yes they lose xp) in my Dynamis LS when charmed, taking the knuckles away from a 75 MNK...reeeeeally doesn't mean much...I just attack faster, for less damage.

No, being hit doesn't "wake you up" either. If only...
