What job is kirin osode best for

it benefits bard the least from all jobs who can wear it.

But, for tanking HNM nin will be using scorp, and war using ( adaman/af2 mix /koenig/scorp ).


I would wear it for any of the other jobs in regular exp party.

+10 str +10dex +10agi +10vit as nin is very very sooper :-]

I think that Kirin Osode is great for BRD. +30 MP and +10 CHR is nice. But +10 STR and +10 DEX is also great when we fight. +10 VIT and AGI when we're doing crowd control, only unused stats are +10 INT and MND.

I don't see why a Bard doesn't benefit from this item as much as a RNG.

I agree its a VERY NICE ITEM FOR BARDS TO HAVE.

But if you had to prioritise it, looking at importance to exp parties and HNM parties, bard gets it last every time.

I cannot see a single situation where bard gets any use out of it more than any of the other jobs that can use it.


chr ok its nice, mp, 30 mp, whilst nice is not going to make or break a party.

str/dex/ useless, agi, useless, vit, useful only when being hit, which will never be often enough to warrant it.

int useless, mnd useless.


compare that to a ranger.


Str very useful, will boost damage.
dex, will help 1h weapons hit, faster tp gain, more crits.
vit, nice for when you get hit ( not IF like a bard )
agi ( nice for /nin evasion and racc )
int ( useless )
mnd ( useful for pulling vs magic type monsters - magic def )
chr ( boosts dmg for some WS ).

mp ( useless )



Every single stat that is relevant to melee is useful for ranger, for bard? mp and chr, that is it.

anyway, silly bard, your meant to play music on your pipe not smoke crack.

I agree that pretty much all the jobs that can equip it would benefit from using this item. Bards should be last on the list to get the thing, though. BST would actually be a good job for this osode. BST if subbing WHM need the MP. BST will also be meleeing alongside their pet, so many of the stats benefit them. The extra CHR will also help their charms for when your group goes deep into those dungeons (like to get your MNK his dune boots). Do BSTs at 75 have much trouble charming anything? I'm sure SAM could make good use of the thing as well, especially if the various stats actually do affect damage on their respective elemental weaponskill as some people say.

PS: On the subject of elemental weaponskills and stats, could that be why there is so much CHR+ on koenig armor? Could it be for the light element sword weaponskills that PLDs can use? Some people say CHR affects hate (have we refuted this yet?), and others say it might be resistance to charm. What's the deal?

*Edit: No one job deserves this than any other. Maybe one person you know deserves it over another (for whatever reason). The only real solution is to get one for each person who wants one. :sweat: :dead:

I borrowed an Osode from my friend once just to try it on.

They all laughed at how rediculous it looked on a Bard.

I'm not denying that it's a good piece of armor. I'm sure that if I had Osode, the only other body piece I'd need is Dalmatica. But I'd rather have Dalmatica over Osode.

Osode is just a souped up version of Errant. You only wear Errant on HNM anyway, so the extra +STR/DEX/VIT/etc are never put to use. And I can't remember the last time I had to solo melee and tank stuff.

I mean, our Linkshell does Kirin almost every night now, and I'm sure somewhere down the road I'll be able to get one. But there's a LOT of other items for Bard that are more important than the Osode.

and I agree that Ranger gets the most use out of it.
