Hello fellow importers of Ragnarok!!
This thread is to discuss(and possibly annouce) a creation of new importer LS devoted soley to HNM HUNTING~!.
Please read below for further information if you are interested in joining.
1. What is HNM?
- HNM means High-level Notorious Monster, or (High-level Named Monster) that requires (often) high-level alliance to fight, pops only very rarely (once every 3 days in real time, etc), and drops ultra rare, expensive items. I am sure everyone is familar with your basic NMs such as Leaping Lizzy or Valkurm Emperor that drops items that sell for 200-300K at AH. HNM is basically a SUPER version of such NM, that pops more rarely, is much stronger, and drops items that typically sells for 1-3million at AH or even more.
2. Wow!! Item that sells for 3 million?! Let me join now! When do we kill?!
- Before you even think about what to do with millions of gil you can earn, you should be aware of a few things - 1) there are other competing JP HNM LS that hunt these HNMs around the clock 2) because of the nature of these hunts, it requires an EXTRAODRINARY COMMITMENT from every player to even be able to fight one. Let me say that again; HNM Hunt requires EXTRAORDINARY COMMITMENT.
3. Hmm.. okay.. but it's still 3 million! I will do anything for a chance to become a millionaire in Ragnarok. What do I need to do?
- First, we need to have at least one person camp out at one of the HNM spots for up to 3 real days (rotating the duty of course) at such places as Rolanberry through Crawler's nest for Simurgh, Saurmongue through Garliage gates for Roc, Behemoth Dominion for Behemoth, etc to see when the monster pops. This is just to observe the initial POP time.
- Second, after our "scout" observes the monster, and notes down the pop time, the next pop, which will take place in 3 real days (for ultra HNMs such as Behemoth, Roc, etc), will be our LS's target. Then on the 3rd day, every LS member who wishes to participate in the battle MUST BE PREPARED AND BE AT THE SITE FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. This commitment must have priority over anything else in your real life, including work, school, wife, husband, your girlfriend, boyfriend, pet, etc. If you cannot or do not want to call-in sick for work, cut school, or miss other things for a chance to fight HNM, THEN DO NOT JOIN THIS LS. I AM VERY SERIOUS. Otherwise, we will never be able to fight a rare HNM that requires 12+ people.
- Once we determine the range of possible POP time from the initial record of the previous pop, (probably around 4-8 hour window), we gather at the pop spot, and chat, eat, and do whatever to wait until the pop (This waiting will last AT LEAST SEVERAL HOURS). (Please realize that there might be at least 1 or 2 competing PT for the same POP!)
- If we get lucky and get the monster, and the monster drops a rare, then EVERYONE WHO FOUGHT ROLLS FOR IT. NO EXCEPTION.
4. OMG! Wait for hours doing nothing?! Why even make such an LS?
- Because otherwise, HNM is simply impossible to hunt. Plus, as a fan of FFXI, wouldn't you love to fight a Behemoth? Or wouldn't you love to experience the thrill of fighting a rare HNM that could forever solve your financial woes?~ And perhaps most importantly, forming a very well-organized, committed group that can regulary do these will enable us to develop stronger friendship and form more lasting memories of our adventure in Vana Diel~!
OK. After reading the above, if you are still interested, please post in this thread by sharing your ideas~.
Few other ground rules:
1. I and/or Seishi will create this LS. Name/color is open to suggestion of course.
2. YOU MUST BE LV50 OR ABOVE TO RECEIVE PEARL. We simply cannot fight some of these HNMs with low level people. Furthermore, this LS will not allow any newbie/off-topic conversations. EVERYTHING IS FOR HNM HUNTING ONLY.
3. WE WILL, however, do other quests that require many people and offer great rewards (such as RAISE II PT, Weapon of 7 Sins, etc. possibly helping AF3s).
4. YOU MUST HAVE THE COMMITMENT. I cannot emphasize this enough. If you cannot spend hours waiting around for these monsters to pop, please do not bother joining the LS.
5. Once the LS is officially established, we will hold an organizational meeting in Ragnarok (I suggest a very romantic spot somewhere~ to make this more memorable) to decide on the HNM hunting schedule.
6. Because these hunts/quests truly require ORGANIZATION AND TEAMWORK, everyone must be willing to follow orders given by designated "leaders" at that time. No mindless chit-chats. Sorry, but this is only way this will work.

so when i get to lv50 i can get the green LS i always wanted :sweat:
