Not to take sides or anything but the tigers aren't anyones mob. If you get it and kill it then you got it, if you pull 50 and say there all yours, then you should be slapped. Many times I have done sneak and engaged right then someone would provoke the monster I was about to attack...But shit happens, there are around 30 or alittle more in Batallia..pick one.

Sleep doesn't claim the monster (or at least, it won't reliably stay claimed when they are fighting the other monster). Steal it back.

Just make sure you get enough hate to get it off the blm/rdm/brd who put it to sleep - once you have claimed it they can't fight back or re-sleep it if it does go after them. And of course, if your party loses to it, zones, Chainspell/Escapes, etc., it will still go back to them. But as long as you fight and kill it, you should be OK.

Just cast blind on the sleeping target afterwards, yours until the other one is dead. If you didn't kill it, it isn't yours.

Ive often been in pt's that will pull 2 at a time during the end of a chain.. gotta try for that 6-

I can understand a PT pulling 2 to go for 6 chain. This PT that was in the same area was pulling 2 whenever they could. I told the PT that we should just take the other mob. Being Japanese, they were too polite to do so or say anything. Funny thing is that a different PT pulled one off and the angry PT started blaming us.

I don't see it very often, but it was a case of a very rude and offending Japanese player.

This is one of the things that I don't (and maybe don't even WANT to) understand, quite like the dislike of japanese players toward beeing checked.

If you walk through a city and meet a friend, you won't sneak up on him and whisper in his ear so you don't disturb anyone on a lively street, maybe even standing in front of him, writing shortmessages via the cell, just to avoid annoyance of some people around. You won't find that scene in ANY city, may it be japanese, french, polish, whatever. I wouldn't want to run through a city where nobody (except some ppl shouting to sell a teleport or AH items) is speaking at all. I enjoy walking through the local city, catching shatters of conversations in quite many different languages, thanks to the local university.
But in a game, I'm supposed to stay quiet on the streets, just because someone could loose his precious concentration on sorting out AH items?

It's the same with checking. When I see someone with an interesting looking armor, I will check him, no matter what. No, I won't log out and search the web databases for the vague optical description of that armor, and no, I won't bother my Linkshell asking what that piece of armor could have been, if I could wear it, and what its stats would be. That's what the check function is for. I don't run through the real-life streets with blinders either; when someone wears something cool, I WILL take a closer look for a logo or something like that. I won't physically come closer, and I definetly won't touch the person, but I'm not doing that ingame either.
At the moment, I can only laugh in front of my PC when people send me /slap emotes after I've been checking them. After all, there IS a chatfilter for checks. It is there to be used.

Both incidents are neither part of the japanese real-life culture, nor of any western culture. I have great respect for highlevel players and the time they have put into their char and bio, whatever nationality they may have. But I won't blindly obey any rule that was made up by them just because they've decided that it would be ok to do so or got used to it.

This is NOT meant to break off a flame war ^^

              Just my 2ct

Btw., I know that my English isn't perfect, so you don't really need to show me any grammatical errors ;-)

                My opinion:

                On /say conversation:

Personal conversations in crowded areas (especially in towns) should be kept in /tell if possible. I'm already bombarded by a /tell Channel, a /shout channel, a /party channel, and a /linkshell channel. I don't need to hear what you have to say to the person directly in front of you. Not such a necessity in the fields, since it isn't as populated, but when there are many people around, you simply add unwanted/unneeded text to an already inundated chat system.

                On /check-ing:

If you check me, I probably won't mind, but I may send you a (*?L„D`*)?@to let you know that I know you checked me. Multiple checks is simply rude, no matter how you slant it. I don't use the check filter because I keep mental tabs on chronic checkers. There's simply a point where it's not necessary.

Despite your sensical analogy to real life, this is NOT real life. The rules of etiquette are NOT similar. Making a spectacle of yourself won't garner anyone's favor, but if you feel it necessary to do so, no one can really stop you.

Would you like it if you were eating lunch in a cafe, and 15 people walked over and stood next to your table and all started talking to each other?

Your whole mindset is nothing different from "I DEW WHUT I WANT< I PAY 4 FFXI" that weiners yell in shouts. Just because you don't find anything wrong with it doesn't mean everyone else thinks its kewlzor to spam /say crap about what % their milk was for their lucky charms this morning.

Edit- HOLY HELL. This just reminded me of those stupid /say macros people have for like taunt, tameru, berserk, etc. If you're going to make some stupid "MY HART BERNZ!" macro for your stupid ability, at least have it in /p chat only, not in say.

Heh I remember Jiyoon when I was a lowbie and I needed to get my Exoray item. The guy went emo and threw insults at my PT for 30 minutes because we were in front of a his PT in the hidden room in Crawler Nest. In the end he made a train to get rid of my group and DeZoned to lose aggro, almost getting everyone killed. Players like Jiyoon deserve no respect and everyone should MPK and kill steal his monsters. Players like him can only do one thing, polute the game and grief others.

Its one of those cases where I aggree with the original poster. Sometime, /blacklist is not enough, because griefer like Jiyoon can still polute this game when they are on it and ruin the fun for everyone.

I get your point, and I usually hold it to a minimum as well. I rarely have the time to stand on a box in Jeuno to start a political discussion about the situation between Bastok and San'Doria, if you know what I mean I just want to get shouted at when I exchange 2-3 sentences with a friend outside of the /t or /l, and I doubt anyone else will have the time to do more than that as well.

                                On /check-ing:

I agree with you on that point. Multiple Checks ARE rude, and I consider them as some sort of abuse, but I don't want to be slapped all the time just because of ONE check. And that keeps happening in Jeuno quite often.

Despite your sensical analogy to real life, this is NOT real life. The rules of etiquette are NOT similar. Making a spectacle of yourself won't garner anyone's favor, but if you feel it necessary to do so, no one can really stop you.
Right, this is NOT real life. But a MMORPG's highest goal is to resemble a real world, isn't it? I just want to use the options I've been given in the best possible way. And I'm not really supposed to learn the game from database websites but from inside the game, or am I wrong with that?

Neither am I making a spectacle of myself, I'm just writing down the same opinion that I have discussed ingame with a LS member and some others. If you don't like that opinion, fine, but stay with the facts. This is not meant to upset or annoy anyone, but to have a nice and friendly discussion over a daily ingame topic.

First, when I'm eating in a cafe, there is usually always someone at the tables around me And they rarely drink their coffee quietly or alone, without talking to someone. If they talk to loud, sure, I'll get annoyed, but as long as a decent volume is maintained, I'm fine with it. Except when I'm out with my friends at the weekend, I won't talk with 15 people in a cafe at the same time at all

Even IF not everyone is ok with it, that's ok with me, and I respect it. I usually play with the people around me in mind, this still is a multiplayer / community game. But at some point, I have to draw a line between my gaming experience and the experience of others. I, personally, get VERY annoyed when this damn semi-1337 language is used. I accept it to some point, but when the only thing I read in a chat are "y0 fux0r, I'm th3 k3wlezt", I first tell him that I can't stand it, and if he won't listen, I'll kick him or set him on the LS, and in the worst case, I'll get him a nice, warm place on my blacklist.

Having respect for the community shouldn't end up in the community having no respect for a single player just because of something like this.
